Sector 47 is one of the older sectors near the top of Sohna Road, close to Subhash Chowk. It is an HSVP sector, and the authority lists a Sector 47 layout plan among its Gurugram plans. Part of Unitech's South City 2 also reaches into it: Park Hospital gives its address as Q Block, South City 2, Sohna Road, Sector 47. Homes run from plotted houses and floors to flats in societies.

The roads around it are the thing to plan for. On 11 August 2024 The Tribune reported waterlogging in Sectors 47 and 48, on Sohna Road and at Subhash Chowk after heavy rain. In January 2025 the same paper reported that a main road at a busy diversion point in Sector 47 caved in after a water pipeline leaked. Either can shut a stretch for hours or days.

So a move here starts with a look at the road. A day before, we check the way in and out and keep a second route ready.
