Sector 45 is one of Gurgaon's HUDA urban estates in the middle of the city; Delhi Public School, for one, gives its address as Sector-45 Urban Estate (DPS Gurgaon). Beside the plotted streets are Greenwood City, a gated society whose blocks run into Sector 46, and Kanhai, an old village that Wikipedia describes as a residential hub for students and for people who work at nearby companies (Wikipedia).

Much of the sector is changing. Older family houses are being pulled down and rebuilt as stilt-plus-four buildings, with parking at ground level and several flats above, and residents' groups have protested that the extra homes strain parking and services in sectors including 45 (The Tribune). For a mover this means new neighbours on every floor, cars on the street and, sometimes, a building site next door.

The monsoon is the other thing to plan for. The Tribune reported school buses stuck at the Greenwood City gate for over two hours after heavy rain in July 2023, and listed Sector 45 among waterlogged sectors again in August 2024.   1. Leaving the family house before it is rebuilt

    If your old house is coming down for a stilt-plus-four rebuild, we pack everything, send some to your rented flat and put the rest in storage until the new floor is ready.

    New builds often have a compact lift, or only stairs, and a stilt car park the truck cannot enter. We measure the lift door and plan the carry from the street before the day.

  3. The Greenwood City gate

    A gated society wants notice of a move. Ask its office which gate trucks use, what hours are allowed and whether a lift slot is needed, then tell us what they say.

  4. Rooms in Kanhai

    Village lanes are tight for a full-size truck. A single room or a small flat moves in a light vehicle that can reach the door, with every carton marked in your name.

  5. Monsoon days

    Heavy rain has flooded roads here more than once. From July to September we keep an eye on the forecast, wrap furniture in plastic and have another route ready if a stretch goes under.

  6. Metro works ahead

    The new Gurugram Metro corridor from Millennium City Centre is planned with a Sector 45 station, with civil work under way since late 2025. Expect barricades and diversions on the route, and allow time for them.
