Moving in Sector 47 during the monsoon means planning around Subhash Chowk and Sohna Road, the two approaches that turn up again and again in Gurgaon's flood reports, with Sector 47 itself named in lists from 2023 and 2025. In May and June the risk changes to heat, with district readings above 41 °C in 2026 and nights that stay warm, so the season decides the hour you start as much as the date.

This guide sets out the dated reports, what they show about where water collects and when, and how we turn them into a plan. The crew, packing and route checks we use on every job here are set out on the packers and movers in Sector 47 Gurgaon page.

Which dated reports name Sector 47 or its approach roads?

We found eight reports from 2023 to 2026 that name the sector or its approach roads, describing nine events. We left out older ones and those that only mention Gurgaon in general.

Date Source What was reported What it means for a move
19 August 2023 The Tribune Sector 47, Good Earth Mall, Mayfield Garden Chowk and Subhash Chowk among waterlogged points after a Saturday downpour The trouble spots sit on both sides of the sector
10 July 2025 PTI 133 mm overnight; Sohna Road, Subhash Chowk and Sectors 47 and 48 waterlogged; about 2.5 feet of water at the chowk A night of heavy rain can block the next morning's move
6 May 2026 Construction World (9 October 2026) Road near Subhash Chowk, opposite SD Adarsh Vidyalaya, caved in when the old sewer gave way; one lane barricaded Lanes can close without rain
22 May 2026 Amar Ujala Orange heat-wave alert to 26 May; 41.4 °C by day, 26.5 °C at night Carry in the early morning
16 June 2026 Amar Ujala Two days of rain ended the heat spell Mid-June brings humid, showery days
25 August 2026 PTI A burst of roughly 70 mm inside 35 minutes; some 15 vehicles stuck at Subhash Chowk for close to two hours A short burst can stop traffic
5 September 2026 NewKerala Heavy waterlogging on Sohna Road after morning rain The season runs into September
25 September 2026 Urban Acres The stretch from Subhash Chowk towards Malibu Towne flooded badly in August 2026 and in the monsoon before Malibu Towne's approach is on the list
9 October 2026 Construction World NHAI to reline the Sohna Road sewer from the end of October, for about three months Possible lane closures this winter

Two gaps in the record matter as much as the entries. No report we found names a street inside Sector 47 as flooded; the sector appears by number in a city-wide list. And we found no temperature reading or power-cut report for Sector 47 alone, so the heat figures here are for the Gurugram district. Treat our heat advice as general care, not a reaction to a local event.

Why do the same junctions flood year after year?

The reports point to drains and old pipes, not to unusual rain. On 10 July 2025 the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram posted that its drains were running at full capacity and that its machinery was working to clear storm water, while water stood about 2.5 feet deep at Subhash Chowk and traffic was stuck until 2 am. In other words, once the drains fill, the low points hold water until it is pumped out.

The ground under the highway is a second problem. According to Construction World, the master sewer below Sohna Road is about thirty years old and runs roughly 20 feet down, carrying sewage from Sectors 45 to 51. It has caused six cave-ins near Sheeshpal Vihar in three years, and on 6 May 2026 it gave way near Subhash Chowk, opposite SD Adarsh Vidyalaya, leaving one lane of the main road barricaded.

The metro will not fix this soon. In its September 2026 report, Urban Acres described the planned Subhash Chowk station opposite Tarun Society, with one entry just before ILD Mall, and noted that both gate sites lie in areas that flood. It added that the road from Subhash Chowk towards Malibu Towne was badly waterlogged in the previous monsoon too. For a family in Malibu Towne, Mayfield Garden or the tower societies off Sohna Road, the main approach is one of the stretches these reports keep naming.

Does rain fall evenly across Gurgaon on the same morning?

No, and that changes how to read a forecast. On 19 August 2023, The Tribune listed the district administration's readings up to 8 am: 76 mm at Harsaru and Kadipur, 62 mm in Gurgaon tehsil, but only 15 mm at Badshahpur and 2 mm at Sohna. The same report named Sector 47, Good Earth Mall and Mayfield Garden Chowk among the places with water on the road.

A city figure, then, tells you little about your own lane. On a wet morning we look at the approach itself rather than the total on the news. If you live here, a photo of the road outside your gate at 7 am is the most useful thing you can send us.

Timing also varies. The July 2025 flooding followed rain that began the evening before, so the morning of the move was the worst time. The downpour of 25 August 2026, by contrast, was a 35-minute burst of about 70 mm, according to PTI's report on ThePrint, which left vehicles stuck at Subhash Chowk for close to two hours. A plan that works for one kind of rain fails for the other, which is why we hold a reserve day rather than relying on a single forecast.

What does the Sohna Road sewer work mean for a winter move?

Possibly a narrowed highway between October 2026 and early 2027. Construction World reported on 9 October 2026 that NHAI had given the contract to reline the sewer between Rajiv Chowk and Sheeshpal Vihar, using a liner pushed inside the old pipe, at an estimated cost of Rs 580 million. Officials expected work to begin by the end of October and finish within three months, once GMDA approved the design.

Those dates are a plan, not a schedule we can confirm, so treat them as "check before you book". If the work starts on time, a move in November, December or January may meet barricades on the stretch your truck uses to reach Subhash Chowk. The checks are simple:

  • Look at the route the evening before. A lane closed for relining can appear overnight.
  • Agree an alternative turn-off with the driver, so a closed lane does not mean a U-turn with a full truck.
  • Allow for a slower drive. If the second address is also off Sohna Road, give that society a later arrival time. Our Sector 47 costs post explains how lost hours on the road show up in the price.

How hot does it get around Sector 47 in May and June?

Hot enough for work to stop by midday. On 22 May 2026, Amar Ujala reported a district maximum of 41.4 °C and a night-time low of 26.5 °C, which was 1.2 degrees above normal, with an orange alert for heat-wave conditions until 26 May. The weather office warned of humid heat and warm nights as well as hot days.

The warm nights matter. Packing late in the evening is not much cooler than packing at noon if the overnight low stays above 26 °C, and a sealed flat with the air conditioner already removed heats up fast. In practice, we:

  • Begin carrying at first light and aim to finish loading before late morning.
  • Take the AC down last. Leave at least one room cool while the crew works through the rest of the home.
  • Keep heat-sensitive items in your car. Medicines, laptops, phones, candles, cosmetics, wine and documents should ride in your car rather than the truck.
  • Stage cartons in the shade. A stilt parking or a covered porch is better than the open driveway in front of a Malibu Towne floor.
  • Keep drinking water on hand for the household and the crew, in the old home and the new one.

Relief can come suddenly. Amar Ujala reported on 16 June 2026 that two days of rain, with a heavy spell from about 8 am, had broken the heat, though only 4 mm was recorded. So by mid-June 2026 the weather had turned humid and showery rather than dry, and a June move should be packed for both.

Which months carry the most risk for a Sector 47 move?

Months On record Planning note
October Sohna Road sewer work due to begin by month-end Check the highway the evening before
November to January Sewer relining planned for about three months Expect possible lane closures; allow a slower drive
February to April No dated rain, heat or road report for the area in these months Normally the calmest stretch; look at the forecast anyway
May Orange heat alert, 41.4 °C by day and 26.5 °C at night (2026); sewer cave-in near Subhash Chowk on 6 May 2026 Dawn start; heat-sensitive goods in your car
June Heat broken by rain in mid-June 2026 Pack for both heat and showers
July to early September Flooding reports in 2023, 2025 and 2026, including a September 2026 Sohna Road report Reserve day; no truck through standing water

For August in particular, our Sector 47 area page adds the August 2024 and August 2026 events, which we do not repeat here.

What goes on a wet-day and hot-day checklist?

Wet day:

  • To do: A photo of the road outside your gate early on the morning of the move
  • To do: The state of Subhash Chowk and the Sohna Road approach, from a neighbour or a traffic update
  • To do: A covered loading point agreed with the society or, for a plotted home, a porch the crew can use
  • To do: Plastic sheeting for mattresses, sofas and cartons on the walk to the truck
  • To do: A reserve day agreed with the new building as well as the old one
  • To do: Storage booked as a fallback if the new home cannot take delivery

Hot day:

  • To do: A start time soon after sunrise, and the earliest lift slot your tower allows
  • To do: One room kept cool until the end
  • To do: A bag of medicines, electronics and papers that goes in your car
  • To do: Water and a shaded place to rest for everyone carrying

For the gate papers and society approvals, read our Sector 47 rules guide, and if you are new to the area, our Sector 47 newcomer's guide. A move further down the corridor is covered in the Sohna Road moving guide, and our household shifting page describes the packing. When your dates are settled, send us both addresses.

We read every source listed below on 20 October 2026. This is general information: drains, road works and forecasts change quickly, so confirm the latest with your society, the city's traffic updates and the weather office before moving day.
