How is a short move within Rohini priced?

Rohini was developed under a DDA sub-city project begun in the 1980s, and it is laid out in numbered sectors served by both the Red and Yellow metro lines, as its Wikipedia entry sets out. Families often move within it: from a DDA flat in one sector to a bigger group housing flat in another, or closer to a school, a metro station or their parents. The new home may be ten minutes away. The packing is still the whole house.

The stations are Rohini East, Rohini West and Rithala on the Red Line, and Rohini Sector 18, 19 on the Yellow Line. Adventure Island stands in Sector 10, near Rithala. Further out, the Red Line's Phase IV extension to Narela and Kundli, cleared by the Union Cabinet in December 2024, is planned with stations in Sectors 25, 26, 28, 29/30, 31, 34 and 35. Sectors 3, 7, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18 and 24 have pages of their own; this page is about Rohini as a whole and the moves between its sectors.

Short moves tempt people to cut corners: a hired tempo, a few friends and everything thrown in loose. The damage from that usually shows up in the fridge, the TV and the glass shelves. We pack a local move exactly as we would a long one, with cartons, padding and labels.

What changes is how it is priced. A local move is not charged by the kilometre. It is priced on the vehicle, the crew and the hours the job takes, and those hours depend on your floors, the lifts and how far the truck stands from the door. We walk you through that before you agree to anything.

Local know-how

How a Rohini Sector Move Works

Short distance, full service. These are the parts we plan with you.

On the ground in Rohini North Delhi

  1. Sector to sector

Rohini's sectors are split into pockets and blocks, and in a large society the walk from the gate to your tower can be long. We confirm the gate, tower and flat at both ends before the day.

  2. One-day moves

Most moves within Rohini, for flats up to 2BHK, are packed, moved and unloaded in a single day. Larger homes may need packing the day before.

  3. Kitchen first at the new flat

At the new home, we unpack the kitchen first: utensils, the stove area and the everyday groceries. You can cook dinner that night, even if other rooms are still in cartons.

  4. Society move-out rules

Many Rohini group housing societies ask for notice before a move, a gate pass for goods and a lift booking. Check with your society office; the new society may have its own set of rules.

  5. A clear local quote

The quote for our home shifting names the vehicle, the crew size, the packing material and what is included at the new home, such as unpacking and placing furniture.

  6. Monsoon moves

Ahead of the 2026 monsoon, the DDA desilted the 4.1 km underground trunk drain that carries storm water from Sectors 20, 21, 22 and 23, after silt had badly choked it. For a rainy-season move anywhere in Rohini, we keep sheets ready for the walk to the truck and load the cartons that must stay dry first.

Which Roads Out of Rohini Set the Timing?

Most loads leave Rohini by the Outer Ring Road or by UER-II, and each has its own published rules for goods vehicles.

  1. Outer Ring Road, Mukarba Chowk to Janakpuri

A Delhi Traffic Police notification of 16 July 2009 bars heavy, medium and light goods vehicles from plying or parking idle in peak hours on the Outer Ring Road from Chowk Mukarba to the Janakpuri District Centre at the Najafgarh Road crossing. Rohini lies along that stretch, so in those hours a truck can neither use it nor stand on it.

  2. UER-II main carriageway

NHAI's notification of 11 January 2024 describes UER-II, numbered NH-344M, as running from NH-44 near Bankoli village through Narela, Mundka, Najafgarh and Dwarka to the Dwarka Expressway near Bharthal Chowk. It bars three-wheelers including e-carts, motorcycles, tractors and non-motorised vehicles from the road, and a Delhi Traffic Police order directs officers to enforce that. A truck may use it; a three-wheeler tempo may not.

  3. The Sonipat and Bahadurgarh spurs

Besides the main road, UER-II has a 29.6 km four-lane spur from Bawana north to Barwasni on NH-352A in Sonipat, and a 7.3 km six-lane spur from north of Najafgarh to the Bahadurgarh south bypass on NH-9. The Press Information Bureau said these links, opened on 17 August 2025, give direct access to Sonipat and Bahadurgarh.

DDA Flats in Rohini Are Still Being Sold

DDA flats in Rohini are still coming onto the market. The authority's Premium Housing Scheme 2026, with registrations closing on 20 February 2026 and e-auction results expected in early March, offered LIG flats in Rohini alongside homes in Dwarka, Vasant Kunj and Paschim Vihar, according to Outlook Money. A buyer from that round can move only after the DDA hands over the flat, so the moving date follows the possession letter.

What to Sort Out Before a Rohini Move

  • Today's restricted hours

The Delhi Gazette notification of 21 June 2024, which the Delhi Traffic Police circulated on 1 July 2024, replaced the older mix of timings. The 2009 ring-road hours of 7.30 to 11 am and 5 to 9.30 pm became 7 to 11 am and 5 to 11 pm, the single peak-hour window for Delhi. These orders do change, so check the current timing when you book.

  • No waiting on the ring road

The 2009 order covers idle parking as well as driving, so in peak hours a truck cannot stand on the Outer Ring Road outside a society while it waits for a lift slot. Ask the society where a vehicle may wait, inside the gate or on the pocket road.

  • Permission for restricted hours

The Delhi Traffic Police FAQ explains that long-term entry permission for a commercial vehicle is applied for online, and short-term permission by written application to the DCP Traffic (HQ). If your move can only happen inside the restricted hours, ask whether the vehicle holds one.

When to move

When Is a Good Time to Move in Rohini?

Late May brings hot nights as well as hot days. On 22 May 2026 Delhi's maximum was 43.3 °C, about 3.1 degrees above normal, and the minimum 29.3 °C, about 2.6 degrees above normal, All India Radio reported, with IMD expecting similar weather for six more days. With nights that warm, an early start gives less relief than usual, so keep the loading short and the water close.

Monsoon days can bring heavy rain in a single burst: Safdarjung logged 72.6 mm in the day before 9 July 2026, when Delhi was on a red alert, The Free Press Journal reported. If the forecast shows heavy rain, hold a spare day in reserve.

Pricing guidance

What decides your moving cost in Rohini

A Rohini move is priced on time and effort, not distance. Here is what makes one local move cost more than another.

Hours on the job
Local moves are priced mostly on how long the crew and vehicle are needed, which depends on packing, floors and lifts.
Vehicle size
A 1BHK may fit a smaller vehicle; a 3BHK usually needs a full-size truck.
Unpacking at the new flat
Unpacking cartons and setting up the kitchen adds crew time at the other end.
Lift and stairs at both ends
A lift at both societies speeds things up; walk-up floors add carrying time.

FAQ

Moving in Rohini: Questions

Still have a question?

Call or WhatsApp us and talk it through with our team.

Yes. Instead of distance, a local Rohini move is priced on the vehicle, the crew and the time needed. A 1BHK on a ground floor costs less than a 3BHK on a top floor without a lift, even over the same distance.

For most flats up to 2BHK, yes: packing in the morning, loading by early afternoon and unloading before evening. Larger homes may need packing the day before. We confirm the timing when we quote.

Your choice. We can place labelled cartons in the right rooms, or unpack them fully and clear away the packing material. Tell us which rooms you want unpacked when you book.

Some do. Many Rohini group housing societies ask for a written move request or a no-dues slip before issuing a gate pass. Rules differ from society to society, so ask your office a few days before the move.

Yes. Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh are next door, and we plan those moves just like a sector move: one day for most flats. For moves further across the city, see our Delhi page.

Yes. We move homes in the older sectors near Rohini East and Rohini West as well as the sectors in the 20s and 30s, along the planned Red Line extension to Narela. The survey tells us how the lanes, gates and floors work at your address.
