Vasant Kunj was farmland that the government acquired in the 1960s. Its housing is laid out in five sectors, A to E, and each sector is split into pockets, such as C1, which are split again into lettered blocks, according to its Wikipedia entry. The same article places the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University along its west and south, and the Sanjay Van forest of the Delhi Ridge close by, with Mahipalpur, Chhatarpur and Saket among its neighbours.

Much of the area is DDA housing, and the flats are not all alike. In its 2025 special housing scheme, the Delhi Development Authority offered HIG, MIG and LIG flats in Vasant Kunj, among them MIG flats in pocket D-6. So a move here starts with the flat category and the floor: they tell us how big a truck to send and how many packers, and whether the crew will be working a lift or a staircase.

The roads are the other half of the plan. Ambience Mall stands at 2 Nelson Mandela Marg, which its owners describe as a six-lane road, and DLF Promenade and DLF Emporio are close by. For Gurgaon, where our head office is, the usual run is the Delhi–Gurugram Expressway, NH-48, and the truck is on Delhi roads until it crosses the border. What We Plan For in Vasant Kunj

An exact address, the right gate and a clear run to the border make most Vasant Kunj moves straightforward.

On the ground in Vasant Kunj South West Delhi

  1. Sector, pocket and block

    An address such as D-6 gives the sector and pocket; the block letter and flat number complete it. Send the full address with the entry you use so the driver does not circle the pocket.

  2. Gated pockets

    Some pockets have a guard at the gate who logs trucks. Ask the guard or your RWA what they need, such as a vehicle number, crew names or a time slot, and we send it ahead.

  3. LIG, MIG or HIG

    A small LIG flat and a large HIG flat in the same sector are very different loads. The truck and team are sized from your flat, not the pin code.

  4. Lift or staircase

    Where the block has no lift, we pack in lighter cartons and add hands for the stairs. Where there is one, we line it and confirm the timing with the block first.

  5. NH-48 to Gurgaon

    Delhi Traffic Police requires No Entry Permission for goods vehicles in restricted hours, so loading is set to keep the run to the expressway outside them.

Finding your way

Which Vasant Kunj Roads and Junctions Decide the Route?

Inside Vasant Kunj, the road your pocket opens onto matters more than the sector letter.

  1. Master Plan Road and Bhagwan Mahavir Marg

    These serve the B-8, B-9 and B-10 pockets. When DDA rebuilt one carriageway of Master Plan Road in October 2025, traffic police advised residents to enter by Nelson Mandela Marg and leave by Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, a useful pattern if that road is narrowed again.

  2. Masoodpur red light

    This signal on Mehrauli–Mahipalpur Marg ran as a two-way junction only during the same works, so a truck heading for Gurgaon may need a different approach while restrictions last.

  3. Golden Line stations

    The Aerocity–Tughlakabad metro line lists Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh among its stations, and Wikipedia expects the main line to be finished by the end of 2026. Until then, building sites along its route can narrow the roads we use.

  4. Shiv Murti and the Dwarka Expressway

    The Week reported that the expressway's Delhi section, opened in August 2025, gives an alternative route between Delhi and Gurugram via the Shiv Murti interchange, and that a twin-tube tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg is proposed. For moves to the newer Gurgaon sectors, it is an alternative to NH-48.

  5. DPS Vasant Kunj and ILBS

    Delhi Public School in Sector C, Pocket 5, has about four thousand day students, and the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences at D-1 runs a round-the-clock emergency. We keep trucks clear of the school gates at bus time and of the hospital approach at all times.

Moving an HIG, MIG or LIG Flat in a Vasant Kunj Pocket

DDA flat sizes differ even within one sector. In its 2025 e-auction circular, DDA listed HIG flats at Vasant Kunj on Mahipalpur Road with plinth areas of about 129 to 141.5 square metres, MIG flats on the same road of about 89 to 90, and MIG flats in D-6 of 107 to 118. That spread is the difference between one truck and two, so we size the job from your plinth area or the room count.

The same circular offered these flats on an "as is where is" basis, which means a buyer takes the flat in its present state. If you are moving into a newly bought DDA flat, finish painting, plumbing and woodwork before the furniture arrives, because a crew cannot unpack into a flat under repair.

What to Sort Out Before a Vasant Kunj Moving Day

  • Road works and diversions

    DDA road rebuilding and metro work can close a carriageway for weeks, as the Master Plan Road works showed. Check the latest traffic police advisory for your pocket, or ask us to, two days before the move.

  • School-bus hours

    The October 2025 advisory asked school buses and parents to plan routes in advance. With several large schools in the sectors, we load outside the morning and afternoon school runs where the date allows.

  • A flat ready to receive

    For a DDA flat bought in an auction, inspect it and get the keys and any repairs done before booking the delivery date, so the truck is not waiting on a contractor.

When to move

When Is the Best Time to Move in Vasant Kunj?

Monsoon downpours can stop a move for a day. On 28 June 2024, the Safdarjung station recorded 228.1 mm of rain in 24 hours, the highest June day in 88 years, and part of the canopy at the airport's Terminal 1 collapsed that morning, Scroll reported. We watch the forecast closely for moves in late June and July.

Winter brings truck curbs. In January 2026, The Tribune reported that GRAP Stage IV stopped BS-IV trucks from entering Delhi unless they carried essential goods, and that diesel goods vehicles of BS-III and below from outside Delhi had been barred since 1 November 2025. For a move from Gurgaon into Vasant Kunj between November and January, the vehicle's emission class can decide the date.
