Moving out of Dwarka Sector 6: what to sort first

Count the plots in Sector 6 and you reach about forty, running from Vrindavan Apartment on Plot 1 to Hahnemann Enclave on Plot 40, according to the Dwarka Homes society list. Names residents will know include Katyayani on Plot 8, Aakash Ganga on Plot 17 and Princess Park on Plot 33. Alongside them sit two DDA pockets of Self Financing Scheme flats: Pocket 1 with categories II and III, and Pocket 2 with categories I and II.

That spread matters on moving day. A cooperative society has its own managing committee, gate staff and rules, and two plots facing each other across a road may follow different ones. A DDA pocket is run by its residents' association instead. Before we fix a date, we ask which of the two you live in, which gate the truck should use and whether a block lift is free to book.

Manipal Hospital sits on Palam Vihar Road in Sector 6, as listed by the South West district administration. We never park a loaded truck where it could slow traffic heading to the hospital, so we load inside the society or on an inner lane. There is no Blue Line station called Sector 6; the branch to Sector 21 stops in Sectors 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9 and 8. Sector 6 Details We Check Before Packing

We go through each of these with you on the first call, before anyone brings a carton.

On the ground in Dwarka Sector 6 South West Delhi

  1. CGHS or DDA pocket

    Cooperative plots and the two DDA SFS pockets are managed differently. We ask who signs off a move-out at your address, then work to that office's hours.

  2. Hospital road traffic

    Palam Vihar Road is the way in to Manipal Hospital. We keep our vehicle off that road while loading and pick an inner lane or society parking instead.

  3. Monsoon days

    A July 2025 report in Dwarka City names Sector 6 among areas with recurring water accumulation. In the rains we wrap mattresses and sofas in plastic and check the approach road before the truck arrives.

  4. Plot number on every carton

    With so many plots in one sector, we mark the destination plot, tower and flat on each carton, so nothing goes up the wrong staircase at the new home.

  5. Out to Gurgaon

    Heading south to Gurgaon, where our head office is? We time the truck's exit from Delhi around the hours when goods vehicles may run.

Finding your way

Sector 6 Landmarks That Decide Where the Truck Waits

With no metro stop inside the sector, our plan here starts from its hospital approach, its school gates and one damaged junction.

  1. Indo-American Hospital

    Manipal is not the only hospital on this side. The district administration also lists Indo-American Hospital at Palam Vihar, Sector 6, so that approach carries visitors for two hospitals. We add time for slow driving there when we give you an arrival window.

  2. The red light by Kaveri Apartment

    A former Delhi Police ACP told Dwarka City in July 2025 about a pothole almost in the middle of the main carriageway at the red light near Kaveri Apartments, which the society list puts on Plot 4. A loaded truck takes that stretch at walking pace, and the driver is warned about it before he leaves.

  3. School gates across the sector

    The district school directory lists J M International School, D.A.V. Public School and Vishwa Bharti Public School in Sector 6, plus government senior secondary schools at Site I and Site 2. On weekdays we keep loading clear of the opening and closing bell near any of them.

Homes we move

Society Flats and DDA SFS Homes in Sector 6

The cooperative plots are not one kind of building. Some were formed by colleagues, such as IIP Admin Apartment on Plot 18, IIPA (Prakriti) on Plot 26 and Shivalik, the Indian Bank staff society, on Plot 32. Others carry private names, like Skylark on Plot 35 and Daffodiles on Plot 36. Plots 13, 19 and 39 are split into lettered sub-plots, so 39A Adarsh Arya and 39C Karor are separate societies; please give us the letter with the plot number.

In a society tower with a lift, the limit is the lift car. A fridge travels upright inside it, but a three-seater sofa or a tall wardrobe may not fit, and then it goes down the stairs anyway. We measure those pieces on the survey so nobody finds out at the lift door.

The two DDA SFS pockets have no cooperative committee. Ask your neighbours to keep the landings free of cycles and shoe racks on the day, because on a walk-up block every carton is carried by hand and a clear landing is what lets two loaders turn a wardrobe.

What Sector 6 Societies and DDA Pockets Ask For Before a Move

  • Occupancy papers for the society record

    Rule 103 of the Delhi Co-operative Societies Rules, 2007 tells a housing society's committee to keep a record of owners and tenants and to take a copy of each occupant's occupancy document. Moving into a Sector 6 plot on rent? Expect the office to ask for your rent agreement before your goods come in.

  • The last maintenance bill

    Under Rule 102 of the same rules, a society bills maintenance monthly or quarterly and may put the names of defaulters on its notice board. Settle the final bill a few days before you leave and ask the office whether it wants anything signed at the gate.

  • Tenant police verification in the pockets

    An owner letting a flat in Pocket 1 or Pocket 2 has to get the tenant verified by the police. The Federal reported in November 2025 that Delhi Police had booked 250 people in North district for skipping it. If you are the incoming tenant, have your ID papers ready, as the owner may want them before handing over keys.

When to move

When Is the Best Time to Move in Dwarka Sector 6?

For the 2026 school year, Delhi's Directorate of Education fixed the summer break from 11 May to 30 June, Careers360 reported. A family with children at one of Sector 6's schools will want to move inside that gap, and so will many of their neighbours, so book a May or June date early.

Those are also the hottest weeks. Najafgarh, Narela and Mungeshpur all came close to 50 °C on 28 May 2024, according to Wikipedia's account of that heat wave. Water can run short too: a resident of the Sector 6 DDA flats told Dwarka City in July 2025 that supply arrived at 4 a.m. for barely 20 minutes. Keep a bucket stored for cleaning the empty flat, and we start loading at first light.

Once the monsoon ends in early October, there is no need for rain sheeting or a backup date, so autumn and winter are the simplest months for a Sector 6 move.
