Packers and movers · Hauz Khas, South Delhi
Maxx Relocation moves homes in Hauz Khas and the small businesses around them: studios, boutiques and cafés in the village. Fixtures, stock and furniture are packed and marked so you can open again quickly at the new address.
Area overview

Hauz Khas is really two places. The residential enclave was developed by DLF in the 1960s and is laid out in lettered blocks, with its main market in E Block. Hauz Khas Village is far older: it grew up beside the water tank first built by Alauddin Khalji, and, as its Wikipedia entry notes, it now holds designer boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and cafés. Its lanes are narrow and there is little room for a truck to stand close to the shops. Hauz Khas as a whole is bounded by Green Park to the west, Gulmohar Park to the north, Sarvapriya Vihar on the Outer Ring Road to the south, and Asiad Village and Siri Fort to the east, with Deer Park and the Rose Garden as its large green spaces.
A business is packed differently from a home. Stock is counted and boxed by type, display units are wrapped with their glass shelves taken out, and every carton is marked with the rack or shelf it came from. At the new premises, that marking lets you set up rack by rack instead of opening every box to find the right one.
Many owners here run a studio and live close by, so we often plan both as one job: the shop on one day and the flat on the next, under a single quote. For a bigger workplace, see our office relocation service; for the home, our household shifting page explains how we pack room by room. If the next address is elsewhere in the city, our packers and movers in Delhi page lists the areas we cover.
Local know-how
Shops, studios and homes each bring their own problems. These are the ones we sort out first.
On the ground in Hauz Khas South Delhi
Trucks cannot get deep into the village lanes. Goods go out by hand and on trolleys to wherever the vehicle can stand, so we bring extra people for the walk.
Tell us when you are open. We pack back-room stock first and leave the counter and front displays for last, so you lose as little selling time as we can manage.
Glass shelves come out and are wrapped one at a time. Mirrors and glass-fronted cabinets travel upright with their corners guarded and FRAGILE tape on every face.
Garments, ceramics, prints or books are boxed by type in numbered cartons, with a list you can tick off as they are unloaded at the new shop.
Chairs, tables, shelving, lights and small appliances are wrapped and loaded. Fixed kitchen equipment should be disconnected by your own technician before we arrive.
Shops in the enclave cluster in the E Block main market, which has a multilevel car park, plus G Block and Aurobindo Market. Hauz Khas metro station, where the Yellow and Magenta Lines meet, stands on Gamal Abdel Nasser Marg by F Block, towards the Outer Ring Road.
Finding your way
These are the places we check on the map, and in the news, before a truck heads for Hauz Khas.
The Rath Yatra starts from the Shri Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas Village and runs along Aurobindo Marg. On 16 July 2026 Delhi Traffic Police regulated both carriageways from the IIT flyover to the AIIMS flyover loop between 2 pm and 7 pm, India.com reported, so the temple is a marker we look at whenever a move falls in July.
Also known as the Aditya Nath Jha Deer Park, it is maintained by the Delhi Development Authority and can be entered from Safdarjung Enclave, Green Park and Hauz Khas Village, per Wikipedia. Its gates are a good meeting point for a crew lead who has to walk the last stretch to a village address.
At 29 metres below ground, this is the deepest station on the Delhi Metro, with 23 escalators and nine lifts, according to Wikipedia. Its entrance is on the Outer Ring Road between Aurobindo Marg and Khelgaon Marg, so allow a few extra minutes to reach the platforms if you are taking the metro to the new house.
Aurobindo Marg, once called Mehrauli Road, carries traffic from Connaught Place south towards Gurgaon. On 28 June 2024 Delhi Traffic Police reported both carriageways from INA towards AIIMS affected by water under the flyover (Oneindia), so after heavy rain we look at that stretch before sending a truck north.
Homes we move
Not all of Hauz Khas is the DLF enclave. DDA's own list of south-zone colonies with registered residents' welfare associations, dated 28 February 2019, includes Hauz Khas Apartments (SFS) at 138 Sri Aurobindo Marg, built under DDA's self-financing scheme. In a society like this, the RWA usually decides when a truck may enter and where it may stand, so ask them before you fix the date.
Mayfair Gardens is a small, independent private colony inside Hauz Khas next to Padmini Enclave, according to Wikipedia. Colonies like this can have their own gates and guards, separate from the enclave's, so give the guard the truck number in advance.
In the village, many buildings now combine homes with trade. As Wikipedia tells it, boutiques arrived in the mid-1980s and restaurants in the late 1990s, and the village now has around 50 restaurants, bars, pubs and cafés as well as hostels. If you live above one of them, we load before it opens, while the lane is still clear.
On the ground
When a load has to run during Delhi's no-entry hours, the operator applies for No Entry Permission on the Delhi Traffic Police portal, uploading the vehicle's registration certificate, pollution certificate, insurance and fitness certificate, as its published instructions set out. We tell you up front whether your slot needs a permitted vehicle.
According to Wikipedia, the name also serves as the reference for nearby areas such as Safdarjung Enclave, Kalu Sarai, Shahpur Jat, Katwaria Sarai and Asiad Village. Tell us the colony name printed on your bills, not just "Hauz Khas", so the truck goes to the right gate.
Wikipedia lists the enclave blocks from A to Z with several letters missing, so a letter alone can mislead a driver. Give us the letter and the nearest market (E Block, G Block or Aurobindo Market) and the driver will find the right lane.

When to move
Avoid the Rath Yatra afternoon. The procession date follows the Hindu calendar and moves from year to year; in 2026 it fell on 16 July, when the Aurobindo Marg diversions also covered Balbir Saxena Marg, Chaudhary Dilip Singh Marg, Chaudhary Hukum Chand Marg and Gautam Nagar Road. A morning move on that day, or a different date, avoids the closures.
Watch the middle of the day in the monsoon. On 28 July 2026 the heaviest rain fell between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, with Safdarjung recording 51 mm, and The Tribune listed Hauz Khas among the stretches where traffic stayed slow. If you are moving in July or August, start loading early so the truck is on the road before the afternoon.
The nights in May give little relief. The Pioneer reported on 25 May 2026 that the Ridge and Ayanagar stations had both reached 44.6°C, and that the morning minimum was 28.4°C. In that kind of week we schedule an early start, take breaks in the shade and use the coolest hours for the heavy carrying.

Pricing guidance
For a Hauz Khas move, the carry from the door to the truck and the amount of fragile display material matter most. A shop's stock is priced on volume, just like the furniture in a home.
| Move | 1 BHK | 2 BHK | 3 BHK |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gurgaon to Delhi | ₹7,000–8,000 | ₹10,000–13,500 | ₹14,000–16,500 |
