GK2 is one of the three parts of Greater Kailash along the Outer Ring Road, a colony of builder floors and independent houses around its busy M-Block market. Wikipedia notes that GK2 has easier access to the Outer Ring Road than GK1, which helps a loaded truck get onto a main road quickly, and that its M-Block market, besides restaurants and salons, is one of north India's largest hubs for sanitary ware. Many moves we handle out of GK2 are job moves: a new role in Bengaluru, a transfer to Mumbai, a company relocating to Pune. The home is usually a full floor with years of furniture in it, and the car is going too. Several days in a truck on the highway is far rougher on a sofa than a drive across South Delhi.

So the packing grade changes. Furniture gets more layers of wrap and boarded corners. Glass and screens go into special cartons or wooden crates. Cartons are filled to the top so they do not crush when stacked, and each is numbered and labelled with your name and the destination city, the way you see in our photos.

What We Plan For on a Move Out of GK2

Long-distance moves go wrong on small details. These are the ones we settle before the truck leaves Delhi.

On the ground in Greater Kailash 2 South Delhi

  1. Long-haul packing grade

    Extra wrap, boarded corners and full cartons, because goods on a long trip shift and settle far more than on a local move.

  2. Car on a covered carrier

    Cars are loaded with hydraulic elevators onto covered trailers. Take out valuables and loose items first, and keep copies of the RC and insurance ready for the booking.

  3. One list for both ends

    Every carton number goes on a written list. You tick them off as they come off the truck at the new home, so nothing is left in the vehicle.

  4. Rules at the new society

    Newer towers in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai usually want a move-in booking and a lift slot. Ask the society office early and pass the times on to us.

  5. Storage in Delhi

Which Landmarks Around GK2 Help a Driver Find Your Block?

Give one of these along with your block letter, and the truck finds the right gate in GK2 or on its Chittaranjan Park side.

  1. Savitri Cinema Complex and station Gate 3

    Greater Kailash station stands at Masjid Moth. Its Gate 2 leads to the Savitri Cinema Complex, and Gate 3 is listed for Pumposh Enclave, the BSES office, the TCIL building and CR Park, according to Wikipedia. A cinema sign stands out better than a gate number, so the complex makes a good first marker before you guide the driver into your lane.

  2. Chirag Delhi station, LBS Marg

    The next Magenta Line stop towards Panchsheel Park is Chirag Delhi, on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, which is planned to become an interchange with the Golden Line. If your route runs past it, ask about work zones on LBS Marg when you fix the date.

  3. Nehru Enclave station

    On the Kalkaji side, Nehru Enclave station opened on 29 May 2018 with five gates, and its bus link is the Nehru Place Terminal stop. Wikipedia puts it within a kilometre of CR Park's Pocket 40 and its A and B Blocks, so it suits anyone heading to a CR Park address on that side.

  4. Kali Mandir, Chittaranjan Park

    Chittaranjan Park, which borders GK2, has a Kali Mandir built in 1984 with shrines to Shiva, Kali and Radhakrishna. It is also one of the colony's main Durga Puja venues, with B-Block, the Co-operative Ground, the Mela Ground and Navapalli in Pocket 40, so the lanes around it are crowded in the puja week.

Private-Colony Plots on One Side, Lettered Blocks on Both

Greater Kailash was laid out by a private developer. Wikipedia's DLF entry lists it among the company's Delhi colonies, alongside South Extension and Kailash Colony, built before the Delhi Development Act of 1957 handed real estate development to the government and barred private developers from Delhi proper. The land went out as individual plots, so a GK2 builder floor answers to the owners in the building rather than to a society office. Settle with them when the stair is free and where the truck can stand.

Next door, Chittaranjan Park grew from an association of families from East Bengal formed in 1954, and its original layout had some two thousand plots in eleven blocks, A to K. GK2 also goes by block letters, as its M-Block market shows, so when you book, write the colony name next to the block and house number. A letter on its own can send the truck to the wrong side of the boundary.

What to Check Before a Truck Comes Into GK2

  • Road closures in the puja week

    On 30 September 2025 Delhi Traffic Police shut the internal roads of C.R. Park and Greater Kailash-II to all traffic from 3 pm to midnight, and said the diversions applied to light and heavy goods vehicles even if they held valid no-entry permission, The Week reported. That order was made for a prime ministerial visit to a pandal, so if your date falls in the puja week, check the current advisory and timing when you book.

  • Permission for a few days only

    A goods vehicle that has to run in restricted hours for a short job can be covered for up to seven days through a written request to the DCP Traffic (HQ) office on Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Todapur, the Delhi Traffic Police FAQ says; longer permission goes through its online portal. The restricted hours themselves are not listed there, so check the current timing when you book.

  • Closing the meter in your name

    The disconnection form posted on the BSES website asks for the consumer number, the date the supply should be cut, a copy of the latest paid bill and identity proof. If your floor's meter is with BSES, keep the last paid bill to hand so the application can go in before you leave.

When to move

When Is a Good Time to Move in GK2?

Keep clear of the Durga Puja week if you live near the Chittaranjan Park edge. The festival falls on different dates each year, and in 2025 the closures around the pandals ran until midnight. A date a week before or after the puja keeps the truck away from the crowds.

Hold a spare day in late July. On 28 July 2026 traffic stayed slow on the Greater Kailash-II to Chirag Dilli stretch, and the Lodhi Road station logged 68.8 mm of rain between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, The Tribune reported.

Mid-June nights can wear a crew out as much as the days. The Tribune reported that Delhi's minimum on 19 June 2024 settled at 35.2°C, above the 34°C of June 2012 that the weather office gave as the previous record. On a floor several flights up, an evening start brings little relief in a week like that, so plan an early-morning load.
