Area overview

How do you move a Punjabi Bagh kothi and the family cars?

The Ring Road splits Punjabi Bagh into East and West. First called Refugees Colony and renamed in 1960, it is made up of bungalow-pattern houses and kothis on large plots, as its Wikipedia entry records. Green Line stations at Madipur, Shivaji Park and Punjabi Bagh East serve the area, and Punjabi Bagh West links that line with the Pink Line by a 212-metre foot overbridge. Many of the homes we move here house joint families, and a move out of one is a big job. There may be five or six bedrooms, a formal drawing room, a basement full of stored things, a terrace with planters and two or three cars in the porch.

A house this size cannot be packed in an afternoon. We usually spend more than one day packing, working room by room and floor by floor, so the family can go on living in the parts we have not reached yet. Each carton is numbered and marked with its room, and the list grows as we go.

The cars are planned alongside the household, not as an afterthought. They travel on covered car carriers, loaded with hydraulic elevators, and you can follow them on our online vehicle tracing system while the household truck makes its own way. Everything else follows our usual household shifting process, the same one our packers and movers across Delhi use.

Local know-how

What a Punjabi Bagh Bungalow Move Needs

Large homes need a plan before the first carton is folded.

On the ground in Punjabi Bagh West Delhi

  1. A survey before the quote

We walk through every floor, the basement and the terrace before quoting. For a house this big, it is the only way to size the trucks, the crew and the number of packing days.

  2. More than one car

Each car needs its own place on a covered carrier. Tell us how many are going and when you need each one, and we plan the carrier space around that.

  3. Marble and glass tabletops

Heavy marble and glass tops are lifted off their bases where possible, padded on both faces and every edge, and carried standing on their side, never flat.

  4. Basements and terraces

Things stored in basements and on terraces are often forgotten until moving day. We list them during the survey, so they get cartons, crew time and truck space like everything else.

  5. Two trucks, two addresses

Big households may need a second truck. When a joint family splits into two homes, say one here and one in a new floor in Rajouri Garden, each truck is loaded for its own address.

  6. Gym equipment and big planters

Treadmills, weight benches and large terrace planters are heavy and awkward. Tell us about them early so we bring the right tools and enough people.

Finding your way

Which Flyovers, Stations and Roads Frame Punjabi Bagh?

East or West, these are the points a driver can find before he needs a road number.

  1. Punjabi Bagh flyover on the Ring Road

Through West Delhi, the Ring Road runs over flyovers at Britannia Chowk, Punjabi Bagh, Moti Nagar and Raja Garden. Moving between the East and West halves means crossing at one of these junctions, so we tell the driver which side your house is on before he reaches them.

  2. Punjabi Bagh Club, Ring Road

The club gives its address as Ring Road, Punjabi Bagh West, which places it on the western side of the divide. For a house in the West half, it is the simplest landmark to name on the phone.

  3. Punjabi Bagh metro station, Rohtak Road

This Green Line station opened on 2 April 2010 and is listed at Rohtak Road, Railway Colony, East Punjabi Bagh. For homes on the eastern side near Rohtak Road, it is the obvious place for anyone joining the crew by metro.

Bungalow Plots, Rebuilt Floors and Basements

Where an old bungalow has been rebuilt as floors, Delhi's rules set the shape of the new building. The DDA handbook on development controls for residential plots caps such a building at 15 m, or 17.5 m where the ground level is a parking stilt, and says it is not counted as high-rise. That usually means stilt parking with the homes stacked above, so we ask early whether the building has a lift and how big its car is.

The same handbook keeps a basement out of the floor-area count when it is used for household storage or parking. A storage basement usually has only an inside stair, so heavy trunks and old furniture come up by hand, and we size the crew for that climb.

What to Settle Before the Trucks Reach Punjabi Bagh

  • Which trucks may enter Delhi

A rule approved by the Commission for Air Quality Management, in force from 1 November 2025, keeps out commercial goods vehicles registered outside Delhi unless they are BS-VI or run on CNG, LNG or electricity, The Tribune reported. Vehicles registered in Delhi are not covered, and BS-IV diesel trucks from outside may still enter until 31 October 2026. A car carrier from another state falls under the same rule.

  • Roads closed to goods vehicles

Some Delhi roads are closed to goods vehicles at fixed hours. If the only sensible route to your house crosses one of them during those hours, the truck needs a No Entry Permission from the Delhi Traffic Police, so we settle the route before the date is confirmed.

  • Kerb space for two vehicles

A household truck and a car carrier need room to stand at the same time. Ask neighbours the evening before to leave the kerb outside your gate free during the loading hours, and tell us if the road is too narrow for both.

When to move

When Is a Good Time to Move in Punjabi Bagh?

Late May is the hardest time for a long packing job. On 28 May 2024 the weather stations at Pusa and Pitampura both read 48.5 °C, The National reported, and Wikipedia lists Pitam Pura among Punjabi Bagh's neighbours. For a big house in that season, we pack over the days before and load at first light.

Rain can stop the main roads here for hours. On 8 July 2026, traffic on Rohtak Road was almost at a standstill between Punjabi Bagh and Shadipur for several hours, and Zakhira flyover and Moti Nagar were also slow, according to a PTI report. For a July or August move, we keep a later start in reserve in case the morning brings heavy rain.

Packing over two or three days, so the family can stay in the house, adds crew days.

Moving in Punjabi Bagh: Questions

Still have a question?

Call or WhatsApp us and talk it through with our team.

Yes. The household goes in our trucks and the cars go on a covered carrier. We plan both as one move and tell you in advance which is expected to arrive first.

Yes, and for a large bungalow we recommend it. We start with rooms you use least, such as guest rooms, the basement and showcases, and leave the kitchen and bedrooms for the last day.

Yes. Tops come off their bases where they can, get padding on both faces and all edges, and are marked FRAGILE. In the truck they travel standing, braced against something solid.

Yes, we move most home gym pieces such as treadmills, exercise cycles and benches. Some machines need the maker's technician to take them apart; we tell you after seeing them.

Yes. Our car carriers work with an online vehicle tracing system, so you can check where your car is during the journey. We share the details once the car is loaded.

Your house number, the road number and whether it is East or West Punjabi Bagh, since the Ring Road runs between the two halves. A known landmark nearby also helps, such as Punjabi Bagh Club, the ISKCON temple on Road No. 77 or Maharaja Agrasen Hospital.
