A move between Delhi and Gurgaon usually runs on one of three roads, NH-48, the Dwarka Expressway or the Mehrauli–Gurgaon (MG) Road, and the truck has to be timed around the restricted hours for goods vehicles in both cities. Maxx Relocation's indicative price from Gurgaon to Delhi is ₹7,000–8,000 for a 1 BHK, ₹10,000–13,500 for a 2 BHK and ₹14,000–16,500 for a 3 BHK (October 2026).
The distance is short, but the move crosses a state border, so it has more rules than a move within one city. Here is what decides the route, the hour and the paperwork.
Which road does the moving truck take between Delhi and Gurgaon?
The road follows the two addresses: pick the corridor that reaches both with the fewest city streets in between.
| Route | Delhi end | Gurgaon end | Often suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| NH-48 (Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway) | Dhaula Kuan | Through central Gurgaon to Kherki Daula | South and central Delhi to Cyber City, Udyog Vihar, Sohna Road, Golf Course Road |
| Dwarka Expressway (NH-248BB) | Shiv Murti, Mahipalpur, past Dwarka | Sectors 102–113, ending at Kherki Daula | Dwarka to the Dwarka Expressway sectors and New Gurgaon |
| UER-II, then the Dwarka Expressway | Alipur on NH-44, round west Delhi | Joins the Dwarka Expressway near the airport | Rohini and north-west Delhi to Gurgaon |
| Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road (MG Road) | Mehrauli, past Ghitorni | MG Road, DLF phases, Sushant Lok | Saket, Malviya Nagar, Vasant Kunj to central Gurgaon |
NH-48
NH-48 is the main link. Wikipedia describes the Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway as a 27.7 km, six-to-eight-lane road from Dhaula Kuan, fully open since 23 January 2008, and calls it the busiest inter-city route in India, with more than 180,000 passenger car units a day. That traffic is the reason a truck on NH-48 should travel well outside the rush hours.
Dwarka Expressway
The Dwarka Expressway, numbered NH-248BB, runs 27.6 km from Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur to the Kherki Daula toll plaza on NH-48, and has been operational along its whole length since June 2025. About 9.5 km is in Delhi, past Dwarka Sectors 21, 22, 25, 27 and 28, and about 18 km in Haryana, through Gurgaon Sectors 102 to 113. It is the natural road from Dwarka, for example from Dwarka Sector 10 or Sector 12, to the Dwarka Expressway sectors where our head office stands. Our post on Dwarka vs the Dwarka Expressway compares the two sides.
UER-II
From north and west Delhi, UER-II is the bypass. Wikipedia gives it as a 75.7 km, six-lane road from NH-44 at Alipur to NH-48 near Mahipalpur, fully operational since 17 August 2025, and it meets the Dwarka Expressway near the airport. For a move from Rohini, it keeps the truck off much of the inner city.
Mehrauli–Gurgaon Road
For South Delhi, the MG Road corridor is often shortest. It passes Ghitorni, a Delhi village near the Gurgaon border, alongside the Yellow Line metro, and carries on into Gurgaon's MG Road. It suits moves from Saket, Malviya Nagar and Vasant Kunj to the DLF phases and Sushant Lok.
Where are the border and toll points on the way?
On NH-48 the old toll barrier at the border is gone: Wikipedia records the 32-lane toll gate at the Delhi–Gurgaon border as removed. Further south, NH-48 has a toll plaza at Kherki Daula, where the Dwarka Expressway also ends; Wikipedia's page on the village places it in Sector 84, describes it as the second toll plaza from Delhi on the Jaipur highway, and notes heavy daily jams there.
What this means for a household move:
- A move from Delhi to central Gurgaon on NH-48 or MG Road need not pass Kherki Daula at all.
- A move to New Gurgaon, Manesar or the far end of the Dwarka Expressway usually does, so allow for the queue.
- Ask your mover whether every toll and route charge for the truck is already in the quote, so nothing is added later.
When can a moving truck run in Delhi and Gurgaon?
A moving truck should run outside each city's restricted hours for goods vehicles, and be planned round the national-holiday closures.
In Gurgaon. A Gurugram Traffic Police note hosted by GMDA gives the city's no-entry timings for commercial vehicles on designated areas as 8–10 am and 5–9 pm. It sets up free digital permits, the Vehicle Movement Digi Pass, for vendors and firms in essential services. The note is undated, and older posts with different evening timings still circulate online, so confirm the current hours before the day.
In Delhi. Goods vehicles need No Entry Permission from Delhi Traffic Police to run during restricted hours. Its FAQ says annual and one-to-three-month permissions are applied for online, and permission for up to seven days by writing to the DCP Traffic HQ office at Todapur. A circular dated 31 December 2025 extended 2025 permission stickers while the 2026 applications were being checked. Neither page lists the restricted hours, so ask your mover how the run out of Delhi is timed. The Delhi Traffic Police helpline is 011-25844444 or 1095.
Around 26 January and 15 August. Plan these weeks with care. In January 2025, ThePrint reported that heavy and medium goods vehicles were barred in Gurugram from 5 pm on 22 January to 1:30 pm on 23 January, and again from 5 pm on 25 January to 1:30 pm on 26 January. In August 2024, The Tribune reported that heavy vehicles were barred from entering Delhi from 5 pm on 12 August to noon on 13 August, and from 5 pm on 14 August to noon on 15 August, for the rehearsals and the day itself. The dates change each year, so check the orders for your year.
In the monsoon. Rain can shut a lane or a whole stretch. On the first heavy rain of 2026, The Tribune reported that NH-48 caved in near Narsinghpur, two lanes closed, traffic backed up from Hero Honda Chowk to Kherki Daula, and police diverted vehicles onto the Southern Peripheral Road and the Dwarka Expressway. Keep a spare day in July and August.
What documents do you need for a Delhi–Gurgaon move?
Your own used household goods need no e-way bill: the CGST Rules list used personal and household effects among the goods exempt from it. The papers that do matter are the ones that protect you and satisfy the two buildings.
- To do: The mover's written quote and a goods list, signed before loading
- To do: A receipt or lorry receipt that names the moving company
- To do: The move-out permission or gate pass from the Delhi society or RWA, if it issues one
- To do: The move-in terms from the Gurgaon society: approval, lift slot and allowed hours
- To do: If you are renting in Gurgaon: the rent agreement, and tenant verification, which Gurugram Police lists as a citizen service on its website
- To do: If a car travels with the goods: its registration certificate and insurance papers in the car
Our guide to moving to Gurugram lists the questions to put to a Gurgaon society before the date is fixed.
How much does a move from Gurgaon to Delhi cost?
A move from Gurgaon to Delhi costs ₹7,000 to ₹16,500 in our indicative ranges for October 2026, by size of home.
| Home size | Gurgaon to Delhi (indicative, October 2026) |
|---|---|
| 1 BHK | ₹7,000–8,000 |
| 2 BHK | ₹10,000–13,500 |
| 3 BHK | ₹14,000–16,500 |
These ranges are for moves that start in Gurgaon; a move from Delhi into Gurgaon is quoted on its own details. On this route, the things that push a quote up are mostly on the Delhi side: a walk-up builder floor, a block lane where the truck cannot reach the gate, or a timing that forces the truck to wait for a permitted hour. Our guide to packers and movers charges in Gurgaon explains each factor and lists all our route ranges.
Who handles both ends of the move?
We do. Our head office is at E-94, New Palam Vihar Phase 2, Sector 110, on the Gurgaon side of the Dwarka Expressway, and our crews move homes from Delhi colonies into Gurgaon and back. Our page on packers and movers in Delhi lists the Delhi areas we cover, and our car transport service can take a car on the same move. Ask for a written quote with both addresses, floors and your date.
This article is general information. Traffic orders, no-entry hours and road conditions change, so check the current rules with Delhi Traffic Police and Gurugram Traffic Police before you fix a moving date.
