Moving in Dwarka, Delhi is decided less by distance than by the building. Wikipedia describes the sub-city, Sectors 1 to 29, as mainly cooperative group housing societies, and the DDA's own pockets of flats sit between them. So first find out who signs off your move, whether your block has a lift, and how close the truck can get to it.

Who runs your building: a society or a DDA pocket?

Most Dwarka homes fall into one of two kinds, and each answers to a different office.

  • Cooperative group housing society (CGHS). The society stands on a numbered plot, and its managing committee sets the rules: notice for a move, the gate register, lift booking and any dues check. Two plots across the road from each other can work quite differently.
  • DDA pocket. The flats were built and sold by the Delhi Development Authority under its schemes, so a local directory lists them by category, such as Self Financing Scheme (SFS), MIG, LIG or expandable flats. The residents run the pocket, and older blocks may be walk-ups.

Wikipedia adds that the DDA used a mixed land use plan in Dwarka, so most of its housing clusters have commercial buildings nearby. In practice the road by your pocket may also carry shop traffic, so ask where a truck can stand without blocking anyone.

Tip

Write your address as sector, plot or pocket, block or tower, then flat. "Sector 19" and "Sector 19B" are different places, and a driver who has only the PIN code may go to the wrong one.

What housing and metro station does each Dwarka sector have?

The table covers the sectors we have pages for, plus Sector 21 for its interchange. Housing comes from the Dwarka Homes society directory and other listings named under Sources; stations come from Wikipedia.

Sector Housing, as listed Blue Line station named for it Area page
6 About 40 society plots; two DDA SFS pockets None Sector 6
7 Society plots 1 to 23; two DDA pockets, one of them expandable flats None Sector 7
10 Society plots 1 to 42; one DDA SFS pocket Dwarka Sector 10 Sector 10
12 27 society plots; eight DDA pockets Dwarka Sector 12, the busiest in Dwarka Sector 12
13 About nine society plots; three DDA pockets Dwarka Sector 13 Sector 13

A sector without its own station isn't far from the metro, but the table shows where station crowds will and won't be part of your moving day. For the sub-city as a whole, see our page for packers and movers in Dwarka.

What changes if your block has no lift?

The pace changes. Every carton goes down by hand, so the stairs become the bottleneck and the crew is sized to keep them moving.

  1. Smaller cartons. Books and kitchen goods go in boxes one person can carry down a turning stair without resting them on the railing.
  2. Furniture apart first. Beds, wardrobes and dining tables are taken apart in the flat, because a stairwell landing is no place to do it.
  3. Heavy items last. The fridge and washing machine go down once the stair is clear, strapped and padded.
  4. One person at the door. Someone stays by the truck to check every piece in, so nothing is left on a landing.
  5. The same at the other end. If the new flat is also a walk-up, tell us the floor; it changes the crew as much as the old one does.

A society tower with a lift has the opposite problem: you need a slot. Ask the office for the booking rules and whether the lift car must be padded. How we pack each room is set out on our household shifting page.

Why do Dwarka's metro stations matter on moving day?

They mark where the crowds are, and they get your family across while the truck drives. According to Wikipedia's Blue Line article, the line reached Dwarka Sector 9 on 1 April 2006 and Dwarka Sector 21 on 30 October 2010, and Sector 21 is the end of its main line. Wikipedia calls the Dwarka Sector 12 station the busiest in Dwarka, with schools, banks and business centres around it. It also notes that Dwarka Mor is known as Dwarka Sector 15.

Two more stations serve the southern sectors. Dwarka Sector 21 is the interchange with the Airport Express, and Wikipedia's page on Yashobhoomi, the convention centre in Sector 25, names Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 as that line's western terminus.

On moving day, try not to park a loaded truck at a station gate at peak hours; the inner road of your society or pocket is usually better. And if you are flying out the same day, the Airport Express from Sector 21 is the one to plan around.

The Blue Line article also lists a proposed 11 km extension from Dwarka Sector 21 to Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon under Phase V. It is a proposal, not a timetable, so don't choose a flat around it yet.

How does Dwarka connect to Gurgaon by road?

By two newer roads that meet near Sector 21. The Press Information Bureau splits the expressway's Delhi section into two parts: 5.9 km from Shiv Murti to Sector 21, and 4.2 km on from Sector 21 to the state border, a stretch that PIB says gives direct connectivity to Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). PIB records that both were inaugurated on 17 August 2025, and that the 19 km Haryana section of the expressway had opened in March 2024.

Wikipedia's UER-II article describes a 75.7 km road from NH-44 at Alipur, past Rohini, Mundka and Najafgarh, that meets the Dwarka Expressway near the airport tunnel and ends on NH-48. It says Phase I, Alipur to IGI, became operational on 17 August 2025. For a move, that means the Dwarka sectors along the expressway now have a direct run south into Gurgaon's new sectors.

We run Gurgaon moves from our head office in Sector 110, one of the sectors Wikipedia lists along the expressway's elevated stretch. If your move crosses the border, read Dwarka vs Dwarka Expressway for the state-line paperwork, and our Sector 110 page for the Gurgaon end.

What does a move from Gurgaon to Dwarka cost?

The owner sets the price guide for Gurgaon-to-Delhi moves. Its October 2026 figures, also on our packers and movers in Delhi page, are:

Home Gurgaon to Delhi
1 BHK ₹7,000–8,000
2 BHK ₹10,000–13,500
3 BHK ₹14,000–16,500

These are ranges, not a quote; your written quote depends on your goods, floors, access and date. We publish no ranges for moves within Delhi, so a move from one Dwarka sector to another is quoted after we have seen what is going.

Where is our Delhi branch?

In Dwarka itself: Shop No. 204, Kartar Nagar, Sector 12 Dwarka, New Delhi 110078. A Dwarka move can be surveyed and planned from inside the sub-city, and the head office in Sector 110, Gurgaon, handles the far end of moves across the border. Our contact page lists both addresses.

What should you confirm before moving day in Dwarka?

  • To do: Full address at both ends: sector, plot or pocket, block or tower, flat and the gate the truck should use
  • To do: Who approves the move: the society's managing committee or the pocket's residents' body
  • To do: Notice period, gate pass and any no-dues requirement, in writing if the office gives one
  • To do: Lift booking and padding rules, or the floor number and stair width if there is no lift
  • To do: Where the truck will stand, away from station gates and the busiest market stretch
  • To do: If the move crosses into Gurgaon, the new tower's booking for unloading, and what our domestic relocation team needs from you for a longer run

Key takeaway

In Dwarka, the building sets the plan: a society plot answers to its committee, a DDA pocket to its residents, and a walk-up block needs a bigger crew on the stairs. Check the sector against the metro and the expressway before you choose the day.

This is general information to help you plan a Dwarka move, not official advice. Society rules, metro plans and road layouts change, so confirm the details with your society or pocket office and the authority concerned first.
