Moving to Cyber City almost always means taking a job in DLF's office district and renting a home just outside it, because the campus itself has no flats or houses. The real choice is which pocket to live in and how you will get to your tower: on foot from Nathupur or Sikanderpur, by Rapid Metro from DLF Phases 2 and 3 or Golf Course Road, or from Delhi on the Yellow Line.

This guide is written for that newcomer, single or with a family, and it stays on the decision the other guides leave out: matching a home to the commute. If it is the office itself that is moving between towers, our packers and movers in Cyber City Gurgaon page deals with that. Schools, PIN codes and clinics for each pocket are in the separate newcomer guides linked below.

Can you live in Cyber City at all?

No. DLF's own page describes about 15 million sq ft of workspace on 125 acres: towers, Cyber Hub's restaurants, a medical centre and a fire station, but not a single residential building.

That changes how you should search. Instead of asking "how far is the house from Cyber City?", ask "which station is my tower nearest to, and which homes reach that station without a change?" A flat 3 km away beside a Rapid Metro stop can be an easier daily trip than a room 1 km away on the far side of NH-48.

Which homes are a walk or a short train ride away?

The Rapid Metro is the spine. Wikipedia describes 11 stations on 12.85 km. North of Sikanderpur, trains run a single-track loop through DLF Phase 2, Belvedere Towers, Cyber City, Moulsari Avenue and DLF Phase 3. A southern branch, opened in 2017, runs from Sikanderpur along Golf Course Road to Sector 55–56. Sikanderpur is also where you cross to the Delhi Metro's Yellow Line, by a 90-metre walkway.

For a family, the trade-off is usually space against minutes. The villages are the closest and cheapest, but their lanes are narrow and the buildings are mostly rooms. Floors in the DLF phases and towers on Golf Course Road give you a proper flat and nearby schools, with a train ride in between.

What do rooms and flats near Cyber City rent for?

Prices vary sharply by pocket, so treat any single figure with care. Two dated snapshots:

  • Nathupur. NoBroker's locality page gives average monthly rents, as of August 2026, of Rs 9,000 to 18,000 for a 1 BHK, Rs 18,000 to 25,000 for a 2 BHK and Rs 25,000 to 32,000 for a 3 BHK. It calls Nathupur one of the cheaper places near Cyber City, with a heavy supply of PGs and builder floors.
  • Sikanderpur. On 31 October 2026, the listings NoBroker grouped under Sikanderpur asked Rs 7,500 to 10,000 a month for an unfurnished 1 RK and Rs 13,000 to 16,000 for a furnished one. Two 1 BHK units were each listed at Rs 25,000. Deposits in those listings ran from one month's rent to two.

For floors in DLF Phase 2 or 3 and flats on Golf Course Road, the pocket guides in the table carry their own dated figures. Whatever you see, a furnished room close to the metro will cost more than an empty one a lane further in, and a listing's rent is an asking price, not a settled one.

What if your shift ends after the last train?

Plan for it before you choose a home. Wikipedia gives Rapid Metro hours of 06:05 to 22:00, with trains every four minutes, a figure it takes from the operator's older fact sheet. If your team works late, a home picked only for its station can leave you with a road trip home at midnight.

Haryana's rules matter here. A notification of 8 May 2025, summarised by the law firm DLA Piper in July 2025, lets shops and commercial establishments employ women between 8 pm and 6 am, subject to their written consent and to the employer arranging transport. In practice, if you will work nights, ask HR two questions before you sign a lease:

  1. Does the office cab cover your address, or only certain routes?
  2. Is there a pick-up point you must walk to, and how far is it at night?

A room in Nathupur that you can walk home from may suit a night worker better than a cheaper flat further away that the cab does not serve.

Should you rent near the new metro line to Cyber City?

Not yet. The Gurugram Metro line starting at Millennium City Centre will finish at Cyber City, running by way of Palam Vihar, Sector 22 and Udyog Vihar Phases IV and V. It is being built in two sections. The first, to Sector 9, has been under construction since 2025. For the second, from Sector 9 to Cyber City, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited issued the civil tender on 5 October 2026, and on 23 October the main contract had still not been awarded.

So a flat in Palam Vihar or Sector 22 that is advertised as "near the upcoming Cyber City metro" is a road commute today, and likely for some years. Rent it if it suits you as a road commute; do not pay a premium for the station.

What should you check before signing a lease near Cyber City?

Three checks save most of the trouble newcomers run into.

  • Is the building allowed to be let as rooms? When planning officials sealed unauthorised PGs in DLF Phase 3 in June 2026, residents complained to The Tribune that the sealing left them no chance to clear their rooms. Ask the owner whether the building has the approvals for its use; our Cyber City costs guide has a short list of steps for tenants of buildings at risk.
  • Has the owner had you verified? Gurugram Police runs a tenant verification service. Keep your ID and a photograph ready, and ask for a copy of the receipt.
  • How does the lane cope with rain? Look at the lane after a downpour if you can. Our Cyber City monsoon guide lists the dated reports for the roads beside the campus.

Also read the lease for its notice period and the deposit refund date, and photograph the meter readings on the day you take the keys.

How should you time the move around a joining date?

Work back from your first day, especially if you are arriving from another city with the joining date fixed and no flat yet. One workable sequence:

When What to do
Three to four weeks before joining Ask HR about the night cab and any relocation help; shortlist two pockets from the table above
Two weeks before Visit at the hour you will commute; check the lane, the stairs and the walk to the station
Once the lease is signed Book the move for a weekday or Saturday; give the floor, the lift and the lane width
If the flat is not ready Put the household in storage and stay somewhere short-term
Week one Police verification, meter photos, and the route to the cab pick-up point

If you are coming from another city, our domestic relocation service quotes the route after a survey of what you own. If you already live in Gurgaon and are moving closer to work, the owner's October 2026 guide prices for shifting across town put two-bedroom homes at Rs 8,000–12,500, with one-bedroom moves from Rs 4,500 and three-bedroom ones up to Rs 15,000; the full table is on our packers and movers in Gurgaon page. Our hours are 8 am to 9 pm from Monday through Saturday, and Sunday is closed, so a weekend move has to be a Saturday.

What goes on a Cyber City newcomer's checklist?

  • To do: Find which Rapid Metro station is nearest your tower.
  • To do: Shortlist homes that reach that station without a long walk or a road leg.
  • To do: Ask HR whether the night cab serves your address.
  • To do: Confirm the building's approved use before paying a deposit.
  • To do: Complete police verification and keep the receipt.
  • To do: Tell the movers the floor, the lift, the lane and the nearest point a vehicle can stop.
  • To do: Carry your documents, laptop and joining papers yourself, not in the truck.

Key takeaway

Nobody lives in Cyber City, so choose a home by commute: walk from Nathupur or Sikanderpur, take the Rapid Metro loop from DLF Phases 2 and 3, or use the southern branch from Golf Course Road. Check dated rents before you visit, plan for shifts that end after the 22:00 last train, and do not pay extra for the Sector 9–Cyber City metro, which was still being tendered in October 2026.

When you have a flat in view, send us the details: both addresses, floors and the lift at each end.

This guide is general information. Rents, metro hours and the metro tender status come from the sources listed and were checked on 31 October 2026; confirm them again before you sign or book.
