Moving to DLF Phase 1 usually means renting a DLF builder floor, part of an older family house or a single room in the plotted blocks between MG Road and Golf Course Road. Before the cartons arrive, settle four things: an address written the way couriers and offices recognise it, a school inside the phase, the clinic for daytime care and the hospital for nights, and a short list of checks on the floor you are renting.

What homes will you find, and what do they rent for?
Mostly builder floors. Square Yards' rental page for the phase, marked as updated on 31 October 2026, showed 503 listings. Of those, 283-plus were builder floors, 106-plus apartments, 31-plus independent houses and 27-plus villas. Its average for apartments was Rs 40 per sq ft a month. Sample asking rents on the page that day:

These are asks on individual listings, not averages, so treat them as a range to bargain within. NoBroker's rental page gives a second view: of 107 listings on 31 October, one-room units were the largest group, at 37-plus, ahead of 25-plus one-bedroom flats. Some of NoBroker's "Phase 1" results are really in Chakkarpur or Sector 28, so check the block letter on each listing.
Two kinds of floor sit side by side here. One is the older house that a family has filled over decades; the other is the rebuilt DLF floor with a lift and a numbered basement store, which our area page describes from DLF's allotment papers. Ask which you are viewing, because the second usually comes with rooms on paper that the first does not.
Which sector and PIN should go on your address?
Write the block letter and house number first, because the sector alone will not find a house here. Going by DLF's sale papers, Phase 1 occupies Sectors 26 and 27, yet addresses in daily use stray outside those two numbers. A listing near Shiv Nadar School is written as "E Block, DLF Phase 1, Sector 26A", and Apollo Clinic gives "A Block, DLF Phase 1, Sector 28". None of this is wrong in practice; it is simply how the colony has been addressed for years.
For the PIN, start with 122002. When we checked India Post's directory on 31 October 2026, that code carried the DLF QE sub post office, with branch offices at Chakkarpur and Nathupur. "QE" stands for Qutab Enclave, the colony's older name, which still appears on official papers: CBSE's record for Summer Fields School reads "DLF Qutab Enclave Phase-I", PIN 122002.
Watch for one stray code. A few listings near Golf Course Road use 122009, which the same directory ties to the Galleria DLF-IV office in the next phase. If your lease shows it, ask the owner which code their own electricity bill carries, then use one fixed line everywhere:
- To do: House number, floor, block letter
- To do: "DLF Phase 1, Sector 26" (or the sector on the owner's papers)
- To do: Gurugram, Haryana, and the PIN from the lease
- To do: That exact line for the bank, Aadhaar, the gas agency and every delivery app
Which metro and roads serve Phase 1?
By Rapid Metro, the Yellow Line or the two big roads. The phase has its own Rapid Metro stop: according to Wikipedia, the DLF Phase 1 station has been open since 31 March 2017. One platform takes you down Golf Course Road to Sector 55–56; the other sends trains back through Sikanderpur and Moulsari Avenue towards Phase 3.
For Delhi, change to the Yellow Line at Sikanderpur, or board it at Guru Dronacharya station on MG Road. Square Yards' locality notes name both Yellow Line stations alongside the Rapid Metro, and describe MG Road and Golf Course Road as the phase's two main roads. The same notes list constant traffic jams as the main concern, so test your office commute at rush hour before you sign a long lease.

Which schools are inside the phase?
Two schools with addresses inside DLF Phase 1 appear on CBSE's affiliation register, which we read on 31 October 2026:

Fees, seats and admission dates are not in these records. Portal lists of "schools near DLF Phase 1" often add schools several sectors away, so confirm the distance on a map before you rely on one. If a child joins mid-year:
- To do: Ask for the admission offer in writing, with the class and start date
- To do: Keep the transfer certificate and latest report card in your own bag on moving day
- To do: Ask whether the school bus stops in your block
- To do: Keep the truck's arrival clear of the school's opening and closing times
Where do you go for a doctor, and where at night?
Separate the two before you need either. For a daytime consultation, Apollo Clinic lists a multi-specialty clinic at A-26/1, next to DT Mega Mall in A Block. A clinic is not an emergency department, though.
The nearest hospital page we could confirm is next door in Phase 3: Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, at Plot 3201, Block V, DLF Phase III, Sector 24, whose website advertises 24/7 emergency care. Drive the route once in daylight during your first week. In an emergency, call 112.
Tip
Many Phase 1 houses look alike from the lane. Put your house number and block letter on a card by the door, and on the first evening send the full address with a map pin to anyone who may need to find you at night.
Where do you shop in the first week?
Within the phase, mostly. Qutab Plaza is the market complex most locals will point you to: Square Yards places it in Sector 26, between Golf Course Road and the Gurgaon–Faridabad road, with shop units from 150 sq ft, and puts DLF Mega Mall about a kilometre away. DT Mega Mall stands in A Block, next to the Apollo clinic.
Keep an overnight bag with you rather than on the truck: bed sheets, towels, chargers, daily medicines, a kettle, the school bags and, for a single room, a padlock.
What should a family or renter settle in week one?
Five points, and the first two matter most in this phase:
- The building's status. In 2026, town planners scrutinised many DLF-phase houses for extra floors and stilts turned into rooms. Get the owner's written word that the house faces no pending notice, and get it before any deposit changes hands. Our DLF Phase 1 rules guide explains the enforcement drive and how to check.
- What comes with the floor. On a DLF-built floor, ask whether the basement store, the staff room and a parking bay under the stilt are part of your rent, and get the answer into the agreement.
- Police verification. Gurugram Police asks for tenants, and household staff, to be verified at the area's police station. Settle with the owner which of you applies, and file away the receipt.
- Water and backup. Ask how many hours the backup covers and whether there is an overhead tank for your floor. The rules guide also covers the 2026 supply problems in Phases 1 and 2.
- Meter readings. Note the electricity and backup meter readings in the agreement, with a dated photo, so the first bill is not argued over.
What should you tell the movers?
Which floor you leave and which you reach, the size of any lift, how tight the stair turns are, and where a truck can stand on your lane. Those decide the crew and the vehicle far more than distance. Our DLF Phase 1 costs guide explains how each of them moves a quote.
