Moving in Sushant Lok, South City 1 or Sectors 31–32 usually means stairs in a builder floor, a block lane shared with parked cars, and a real risk of rain: The Tribune named Sushant Lok among the worst-hit places after 115 mm of rain in 33 hours in July 2026. Plan the floor, the lane and the date before you book, and budget from Maxx Relocation's indicative ₹4,500–7,000 for a 1 BHK to ₹12,000–15,000 for a 3 BHK moved within Gurgaon (October 2026).

These colonies sit in the middle of the city, around the Millennium City Centre metro station, and they are older and denser than the tower belts further out. That changes how a moving day is planned.

How are Sushant Lok, South City 1 and Sectors 31–32 different to move in?

They are plotted colonies and older sectors, not gated tower societies, so most homes are houses or builder floors on block lanes rather than flats with a service lift and a loading bay.

Area Layout Typical homes Plan around
Sushant Lok 1 Private plotted colony in lettered blocks, spread over more than one sector Rebuilt stilt-plus-four buildings, rooms and builder floors Stairs, lane parking, monsoon
Sushant Lok 2 and Sushant Lok 3 Plotted phases of the same colony name Stilt-plus-four buildings among older houses Stairs, lift size, lane width
South City 1 Unitech plotted colony in Sectors 30, 40 and 41 Large floors and independent houses 9 m and 12 m internal roads, road works, rain
Sector 31 and Sector 32 Sectors planned earlier than most of their neighbours Plotted houses, many rebuilt Bylanes lined with cars, rain

A few details help you give the mover the right address. Sushant Lok 1's blocks do not share one sector number: Paras Health, for example, gives its address as C-1, Sushant Lok-1, Sector 43. South City 1 covers three sectors, according to a January 2026 public notice from Unitech's government-appointed board, which puts the colony on about 301 acres and says it was handed over to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram in 2020. And Sectors 31 and 32 are among the city's earlier sectors: in a 2019 piece on how Gurgaon grew, The Tribune set Sectors 31 to 38 apart from the band of Sectors 24 to 57 that came up after the 1990s.

How do you move out of a builder floor with no lift?

You plan the carry before the day: count the floors, measure the stairwell and decide what has to be taken apart.

Builder floors here are often tall walk-ups. In August 2023, The Tribune reported that the town planning department's enforcement wing had sealed 40 stilt-plus-four units run as guest houses and spas, in colonies that included Sushant Lok I, II and III and South City I and II. A stilt-plus-four building has parking at ground level and four floors above it, so a top-floor home is four floors above the parking level. Some have lifts; many lifts are too small for a sofa or a wardrobe.

Before the day

  1. Tell the mover your floor, and whether the lift takes furniture. Send a photo of the stairwell and its tightest turn.
  2. Measure the largest pieces: sofa, wardrobe, bed headboard, fridge. If they came up in parts, they go down in parts.
  3. Pack books and heavy items in small cartons. A light carton is safer on narrow stairs than a big, heavy one.

On the day

  1. Clear the landing and stairs of shoes, plants and drying racks.
  2. Keep the stilt clear for neighbours' cars; the truck waits in the lane.
  3. Carry fragile cartons last on the way down and first on the way up, so they spend less time in the stairwell.

More floors mean more crew hours, which is the main reason a walk-up move sits higher in our price range than a ground-floor one.

Where does the truck stand in a block lane?

As close to your gate as the lane allows, at an hour when the lane is still clear, with neighbours told the evening before.

The lanes are the hard part of moving here. In Sector 31, The Tribune found in January 2023 that stilt parking at new houses had been turned into office cabins, pushing residents' cars onto the street. In South City 1, internal roads are 9 or 12 metres wide; in June 2025 the town planning department removed 51 unauthorised gates from them across blocks C to M, PropNewsTime reported. In July 2026 the MCG approved road, water, sewerage and drainage works for the colony, so a street may be dug up for a time.

What works in these lanes:

  • Check the street in the week before. Road works, a parked car that never moves or a low cable can change the plan.
  • Size the truck to the lane. If a large truck cannot reach the gate, it waits on a wider road and a smaller vehicle shuttles goods to it.
  • Start before the lane fills. A lane that is open early in the morning may be lined with cars by mid-morning, and a lane past a row of shops gets busy once they open.
  • Tell the neighbours. A truck blocks a narrow lane for an hour or two; a word the evening before saves an argument at the gate.

When should the truck load around no-entry hours?

Outside them. A Gurugram Traffic Police note hosted by GMDA gives the city's no-entry timings for commercial vehicles on designated areas as 8–10 am and 5–9 pm. The usual plan is to load early and drive after the morning window, or load through the day and arrive before 5 pm. Confirm the current timings before the day, as orders change.

How does monsoon waterlogging affect a move here?

It can delay the truck, soak cartons on the way to it and close the road you planned to use, so avoid July and August if you can.

The reports are specific. After 115 mm of rain in 33 hours, The Tribune listed Sushant Lok and DLF Phases 1 to 5 among the worst-affected locations on 11 July 2026; officials quoted in the piece said some properties meant for four families were housing 20 to 25, overloading local drains and services. A year earlier, The Tribune named Sectors 30, 31 and 40, which include parts of South City 1, among the sectors that waterlog year after year, despite Rs 500 crore spent on the problem since 2016.

If the date has to fall in the monsoon:

  • To do: Keep a spare day between leaving one home and the deadline at the other
  • To do: Ask for mattresses, sofas and wooden furniture to be wrapped in plastic
  • To do: Keep cartons off the floor of the stilt while the truck is loaded
  • To do: Check the forecast the evening before, and start early
  • To do: If the new home is not ready, keep the packed goods in storage for a few days

What does a move in Central Gurgaon cost?

A move within Gurgaon costs ₹4,500 to ₹15,000 in our indicative ranges for October 2026, by size of home.

Home size Within Gurgaon (indicative, October 2026)
1 BHK ₹4,500–7,000
2 BHK ₹8,000–12,500
3 BHK ₹12,000–15,000

In these colonies, the floor, the stairs and the distance from door to truck usually decide where your quote falls, more than the kilometres. A large South City 1 floor with decades of furniture can go beyond a 3 BHK range, and a single room in Sushant Lok 1 can come in below a 1 BHK. Our guide to packers and movers charges in Gurgaon explains what a written quote should list and the hidden charges to watch for.

Who can help with a move in Sushant Lok or South City?

We can. Maxx Relocation's head office is in Sector 110, and our crews move homes across Gurgaon, including these central colonies. See household shifting for how a home move runs, or ask for a written quote with your block, floor and date.

This article is general information. Traffic timings, road works and drainage change, so check current conditions with the authorities and your RWA before fixing a moving date.
