Moving in Sector 57 in the monsoon means planning around the lane, the stilt and the ground floor: water got into ground-floor homes and basements here in July 2024, and during the heavy rain of 5 July 2026 GMDA had crews clearing the sector's road gullies and drain inlets. In summer the risk shifts to water and power, because most homes here are builder floors that need a working pump, and the blackout of 22 May 2026 covered Sectors 38 to 57.
This guide covers the whole sector and the summer side of the problem. The flood history of Sushant Lok 3's own lanes and the roads around the Artemis roundabout is already set out in our Sushant Lok 3 monsoon guide, so we link to it rather than repeat it.
Which dated reports name Sector 57 in rain or heat?
We searched for reports from 2024 to October 2026 that name Sector 57 itself rather than Gurugram as a whole. Seven carry a date:
| Date | Publisher | What it says about Sector 57 | What it means for a move |
|---|---|---|---|
| 23 May 2024 | The Tribune | A local tanker driver could not refill from borewells in time because of frequent power cuts | In a cut, even bought water arrives late |
| 31 May 2024 | The Tribune | Sector 57 on a long list of areas short of both power and water | The two shortages arrive together |
| 13 Jun 2024 | The Tribune (readers' letter) | A resident wrote of erratic power and water through the heatwave | A resident's account, not an official count |
| 29 Jun 2024 | The Tribune | Sector 57 among places with blocked drains after pre-monsoon rain | The season can start before July |
| 29 Jul 2024 | The Tribune | Water inside ground floors and basements in Sectors 55, 56 and 57 | The levels where packed cartons usually wait |
| 22 May 2026 | News24 | Blackout area ran from Sector 38 to Sector 57; repair put at 8 to 10 hours | Plan a hot-weather day as if the power will go |
| 5 Jul 2026 | The Tribune | GMDA crews cleaning gullies and drain inlets in Sector 57 during the rain | Drains here were being worked on mid-storm |
Two cautions. The June 2024 item is a letter from one reader, so read it as a sign rather than a measurement. And the July 2026 report says crews were sent to Sector 57; it does not say how deep the water was there or how long it stayed.
Why does summer start with the roof tank in a Sector 57 floor?
Because water and power fail together in this sector. Most homes here are builder floors where an electric pump lifts water to a tank on the roof, so a power cut soon becomes a dry tap. In the Tribune's report of 23 May 2024, a tanker driver working in Sector 57 said he was getting 20 to 30 calls from residents but could not fill his tanker from borewells in time because of the power cuts. He quoted Rs 1,500 for a tanker, including filling the roof tank; that is his 2024 figure, not a current rate.
Eight days later the same paper put Sector 57 on its list of areas short of both, and in June a resident's letter to The Tribune described erratic power and water through the heatwave, with garbage lying in the open.
For a May or June move that turns into three plain steps:
- Fill the roof tank the evening before, at both homes if you can, so the kitchen and bathrooms work while the crew packs.
- Keep drinking water in bottles, enough for your family and the crew, because a tanker ordered on the day may not come.
- Ask the owner about the pump. If the building has a borewell or a booster, find out who switches it on and whether it runs on backup.
How do Sector 57's different homes cope with rain and heat?
Sector 57 is several colonies sharing one number, so the same storm plays out differently from block to block. Our Sector 57 rules guide explains who runs each part; here is how weather changes each.
| Kind of home | The rain problem | The heat and power problem | How we plan it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Builder floor in the Sushant Lok 3 or Sushant Lok 2 blocks | A wet stilt and lane between the stair and the truck | Pump stops in a cut; hand-carrying on a hot stair | Covers over every load; early start; water brought in |
| Plot or floor in the old HUDA sector | Ground-floor rooms and stores, the level the 2024 water reached | A whole house of goods to clear in heat | Low-level rooms cleared on a dry day |
| Flat in BPTP Freedom Park Life | Cartons waiting in the open between the tower and the truck | The service lift needs power, or a generator that covers it | A covered loading spot and lift backup, both confirmed with the estate office |
| House in a Mayfield Garden block or the Ardee City side | Lanes that drain towards the dividing road and Sector 51 | The same pump and tank issue as other floors | Route checked that morning |
Square Yards lists Freedom Park Life as a ready-to-move tower complex on 13.88 acres, so it is the one address in the sector where a lift, not a staircase, sets the pace. For the Mayfield Garden and Ardee City sides, our Sector 51 monsoon guide and our Sector 52 monsoon guide cover the roads next door.
What did the July 2026 rain show about Sector 57's drains?
That they still need hands on them during a storm. On Sunday 5 July 2026 the rain began around 7 am and grew heavier by 10.30, The Tribune reported. Old Gurugram took the worst of it, but GMDA said it had sent manpower and machinery to Sectors 9/9A, 21, 22, 23, 43, 50, 51, 57 and 72/73, where teams cleared road gullies and pulled silt out of drain inlets. The same report said several neighbourhoods lost power for seven to eight hours, which cut water supply and stopped coolers and air conditioners.
The earlier record points the same way. The Tribune named Sector 57 among places with clogged drains on 29 June 2024, a month before heavy rain sent water into ground-floor rooms and basements in all three sectors from 55 to 57. Our Sector 56 monsoon guide lists the other 2024 dates for this pocket.
What we do on a wet morning in Sector 57:
- Look before loading. We check the lane, the stilt and the gate for standing water before anything leaves the house.
- Keep goods and people out of the water. The crew never carries goods through standing water, and the driver never takes the truck into it. We wait, or we move the slot.
- Load the ground floor first and fast, with cartons kept on furniture or pallets, never on a wet floor.
- Wrap every soft piece. Mattresses, sofas and fabric chairs go into plastic before they cross the stilt.
What does a blackout mean for a summer move here?
It means planning for the cut rather than hoping it misses you. Late on 22 May 2026 the Sector 72 power station lost its main transformer, and News24 reported that seven substations shut together as a result, Sector-56 among them, and that the affected area ran from Sector 38 to Sector 57. The power department expected the repair to take 8 to 10 hours, while days were reaching 42 to 44°C and nights stayed at 37 to 38°C.
Five days later Amar Ujala reported that the city's load had hit a season-high 2,516 MW on 25 May, and that the transmission company was linking the Sector-56 220 kV substation to the one in Sector 65, with work due by 15 June, after the Sector-56 substation had gone down along with Sector 72. We found no later report saying whether that link was finished, so do not count on it.
For a floor with no lift, a cut mostly costs water and comfort. For a Freedom Park Life flat, it can stop the service lift. Either way:
- Begin at first light so the heaviest carrying is over before midday.
- Ask the estate office how long the generator keeps the service lift running, if you live in a tower.
- Charge phones and a power bank, since a dead intercom slows the gate.
- Carry heat-sensitive things yourself: medicines, cosmetics, candles, vinyl, laptops and anything with a lithium battery.
Which months suit a Sector 57 move?
| Months | Dated evidence for Sector 57 | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| October to March | None in our list | The easiest window for a floor or a tower |
| April to mid-June | Tanker and power troubles in May 2024; blackout on 22 May 2026 | First-light start; tank filled; lift backup confirmed |
| Late June | Blocked drains on 29 June 2024 | Keep a spare day even for an early date |
| July to September | Water in ground floors in July 2024; GMDA crews in Sector 57 on 5 July 2026 | Spare day; lane and stilt checked that morning |
This reads backwards from old reports and cannot forecast next year. A second date agreed in advance protects you better than the month you pick.
What goes on your Sector 57 weather checklist?
- To do: Tell us your colony, block and house number, because the sector has several.
- To do: From late June to September, agree a fallback date with us and with the owner or estate office.
- To do: Clear any stilt store or ground-floor room on a dry day before packing day.
- To do: Fill the roof tank the night before, and keep bottled water at both homes.
- To do: Read the IMD district warning the evening before, and look at the lane that morning.
- To do: In a tower, confirm generator cover for the service lift in writing.
- To do: Pack papers, jewellery, medicines and phone chargers in one bag that travels with you.
- To do: If rain holds up delivery, ask us about storage before the day.
Basement clear-outs, and storing goods while a damaged floor is put right, are what our packers and movers in Sector 57 Gurgaon page is about. The day itself, from packing to refitting beds, is our household shifting service, and the costs of stairs, lanes and lifts are in our Sector 57 local shifting guide.
Is a wet-season or summer move dearer?
No. The owner fixed his indicative bands in October 2026, and the monsoon does not alter them. For a move that stays in Gurgaon, expect Rs 12,000–15,000 if you have three bedrooms, Rs 8,000–12,500 with two and Rs 4,500–7,000 with one. For a move into Delhi the matching figures are Rs 14,000–16,500, Rs 10,000–13,500 and Rs 7,000–8,000. Many Sushant Lok 3 floors have four bedrooms, and those are priced after a survey. What a wet day can add is waiting time or a few days' storage, both quoted on the day's facts. Why one home lands near the bottom of a band and another near the top is covered in our Gurgaon charges guide.
Key takeaway
In Sector 57, rain is a ground-floor and lane problem, and heat is a water and power problem, because most homes depend on a pump and a roof tank. Hold a reserve date for any move between late June and September; in May and June, fill the tank and load early; and never let goods cross standing water.
When your date is close to settled, send us both addresses with the colony, block and floor.
Everything above is general information drawn from reports we checked on 29 October 2026. Drains, power lines and water supply shift every year, so look up current IMD warnings and your owner's or estate office's notices before you fix the day.
