The months to avoid for a move in Sector 51 are July to September, when the sector, the Artemis roundabout and Sohna Road have turned up in waterlogging reports in every year from 2023 to 2026. Late May and June bring the other risk: in the 2024 heatwave, The Tribune listed Sector 51 among the parts of Gurugram short of both power and water. If your dates fall in either season, book a spare day, start early and pack for rain or heat.
This guide lists every dated report we found for Sector 51 and its approach roads, explains how each one affects a truck and a crew, and sets out how we plan a move here in each season.
Which reports name Sector 51 and its roads?
Seven reports since 2023 name Sector 51 or the roads a truck uses to reach it: Sohna Road, the Artemis roundabout, Ambedkar Chowk and the road that divides Sectors 51 and 52. Sector 51 takes in the Mayfield Garden builder colony, described in a June 2024 Tribune report, and Artemis Hospital gives its address as Sector 51.
| Date of report | Place named | What was reported |
|---|---|---|
| 10 July 2023 | Sector 51, Sohna Road | Still waterlogged after the rain had eased |
| 11 August 2024 | Sector 51, Sohna Road, Subhash Chowk | Waterlogged after 53 mm in the city and 64 mm at Wazirabad |
| 5 September 2024 | Sohna Road, Subhash Chowk | Under water or jammed after a two-hour downpour |
| 27 August 2025 | Sector 51, Artemis roundabout, Sohna Road | Named among repeat waterlogging spots |
| 4 May 2026 | Sectors 51–52 dividing road | Floods in the monsoon; rebuild approved |
| 7 July 2026 | Sohna Road, Vatika Chowk | Long jams from waterlogging in the first heavy rain |
| 31 May 2024 | Sector 51 | Short of power and water as the heat peaked |
These are the reports we could find with a date and a place; streets inside the sector that were not named may have flooded too.
How bad does the monsoon get in Sector 51?
Bad enough that the water can stay after the rain stops, and that residents worry about safety, not only traffic. In July 2023 The Tribune listed Sector 51 and Sohna Road among the parts of the city still under water once the rain had subsided. In August 2024, after 53 mm fell in the city by 8:30 am and 64 mm at Wazirabad, a Sector 51 RWA representative told the paper it was "scary to walk in waterlogged streets" because of the risk of electric shock, and said storm water drains were "either damaged or have not been cleaned".
A year later the problem was described as recurring. The Tribune's August 2025 count of the city's waterlogging hotspots, despite more than Rs 500 crore spent since 2016, listed Sector 51 among the affected sectors and the Artemis roundabout among the main choke points, with Sohna Road named as well. Wikipedia's Gurgaon article places the monsoon in July to September, which matches the dates in the table.
For a move, that means three separate risks:
- Your own lane floods. Cartons cannot be carried through standing water, and a truck should not stand where the kerb is hidden.
- The approach floods. Even if your street is dry, the truck has to come in by Sohna Road or the Artemis side, and both have flooded in recent years.
- The day slips. A load that cannot leave in the afternoon may have to wait until the next morning.
Which roads around Sector 51 flood or jam?
Four stretches matter most for a truck coming in or going out:
- Sohna Road. Named in the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 reports. On 7 July 2026, when the heaviest fall in the district was 82 mm at Kadipur and Harsaru and 49 mm was recorded at Wazirabad, The Tribune reported long jams from waterlogging on Sohna Road and at Vatika Chowk. The advice to drivers that day was to turn off at Rajiv Chowk or Hero Honda Chowk and use the SPR.
- The Artemis roundabout. Listed as a choke point in August 2025. It takes its name from the hospital beside it, so we never leave a loaded truck waiting near it.
- The Sectors 51–52 dividing road. In May 2026 The Tribune reported that it suffers waterlogging every monsoon, with potholes and peak-hour jams, and that GMDA had approved a rebuild costing about Rs 9 crore, with drains on both sides, due within six months of the work being awarded. The paper said the rebuilt road should help people in Wazirabad, Kanahi village and the tower societies on both sides.
- Ambedkar Chowk. The junction of Sectors 45, 46, 51 and 52 is due a 900 m flyover, for which GMDA floated a tender in May 2026, with completion two years after building starts. Construction and rain together can narrow the lanes.

What does summer heat mean for a Sector 51 move?
The main risk is the power and water supply, not the heat alone. On 31 May 2024 The Tribune reported that many areas, Sector 51 among them, were short of water and electricity as demand climbed. The city used 414.4 lakh units on 20 May, when the maximum was 45.3°C, and 480 lakh units on 29 May, when it reached 47°C. Demand had risen by more than 15% within a week, the report said, straining transformers and causing outages that left electric pumps unable to run, so water ran short as well.
Summer cuts are not new here. A May 2019 Tribune report on power problems listed Mayfield Garden among the developer colonies where repeated outages were being reported.
For moving day, a cut matters in four ways:
- Lifts stop. In a tower, a lift without backup turns a two-hour load into a stair carry.
- No water for the crew. Carry drinking water for everyone, not just the family.
- The fridge warms up early. Switch it off and empty it the night before, as usual, but know that a cut may have done it for you.
- Heat damages some goods. Candles, medicines, cosmetics, vinyl records and some electronics should travel with you, not in a closed truck parked in the sun.
How do we plan a monsoon move in Sector 51?
We plan for delay rather than hope for a dry day. In July, August and September:
- To do: Keep one spare day in the booking, at both ends.
- To do: Check the forecast two days ahead and again the evening before.
- To do: Ask whether your lane and the approach drained after the last heavy rain.
- To do: Start loading early, so a jam on the way out still leaves time to unload in daylight.
- To do: Wrap mattresses, sofas and electrical goods in plastic film, and line the truck floor.
- To do: Raise cartons off the ground while they wait at the gate.
- To do: Keep documents, laptops and chargers in a sealed bag that travels in your car.
- To do: Agree a route out that avoids the Artemis roundabout and the dividing road if they are flooded.
If the new home is not ready, or the weather closes in, the packed load can go into storage and come out on a dry day. Our packing and loading service includes the plastic wrap and padding a wet-season move needs.
How do we plan a summer move in Sector 51?
We move the work to the cool hours. In late May and June:
- To do: Start packing and loading at first light, and aim to be unloaded by early afternoon.
- To do: Ask the society office whether the service lift has power backup, and book it for the morning.
- To do: Keep a cool bag for medicines and anything that melts, and carry it in your car.
- To do: Have water for the crew at both homes.
- To do: Charge phones and keep a power bank, in case a cut takes out the intercom or the Wi-Fi.
- To do: Do not leave the loaded truck standing in the sun while paperwork is sorted out; finish it the day before.

Is there a better month to move in Sector 51?
On the evidence of these reports, October to April avoids both risks: none of the dated waterlogging or power-shortage reports we found for Sector 51 or its roads falls in those months. That does not promise an easy day, but it removes the two problems this article is about. If your dates are fixed in July or May, plan for the season rather than against it.
For a quote with the season taken into account, send us your dates and both addresses.
This article is general information based on the dated news reports named above, checked in October 2026. Weather, drainage and power supply change from year to year, so check the forecast and your society's arrangements before moving day.
