We could not find a single society, RWA or colony office in Sector 51 that puts its moving rules online, so the go-ahead for your move comes from whoever runs your block: an RWA office, a tower's estate office, or, on a Mayfield Garden street, simply your landlord and the neighbours who share your stair. What is written down belongs to the city: the traffic police's no-entry hours for trucks, a 2025 order on colony gates, and two dated road projects at the sector's edge.
Below, every rule we found in print or in the news carries its date and source, and we say plainly where we found nothing. Our crew's approach to stairs, street parking and hospital traffic is set out for packers and movers in Sector 51 Gurgaon. For price ranges and crew hours, read the Sector 51 costs guide.
Which kind of Sector 51 address are you moving from or to?
Start there, because it decides whom you ask. Square Yards' list of Sector 51 projects mixes plotted floors, villas, a Housing Board colony, gated low-rise compounds, co-operative group housing and a few towers. Grouped by who runs them:
| Type of address | Examples on the Square Yards list | Who runs it, and the record | Whom to ask about a move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Old HUDA and Housing Board blocks | Bainsla HUDA Floors, Housing Board Colony Sector 51 | MCG for the HUDA sector, after the 2017 transfer of Sectors 42, 51, 52 and 57 (Hindustan Times, 5 Dec 2017); check the Housing Board colony's status | Landlord, and the block RWA if it mans a barrier |
| Mayfield Garden plotted colony | Plots, builder floors, Omaxe Designer Villas | Developer-maintained; MCG transfer ordered June 2024, completion not confirmed | Landlord, neighbours, and the colony RWA |
| Gated low-rise compound | Orchid Island, Orchid Ivy Floors | Orchid Island's RWA since 1 April 2018 (Haryana RERA record) | The RWA office |
| Towers and co-operative societies | SS Mayfield Gardens, Landmark Towers, Abhinandan CGHS, Manmeet Housing Society, New Shivalik Society | Each complex's own association or managing committee | The estate or society office |
| Part of a larger township | Nirvana Country's Sector 51 blocks; Ardee City's slice | That township's RWA | See the Nirvana Country rules guide or the Sector 52 rules guide |
Listing portals are not land records, so if the agreement or sale deed names a different colony, go by the document.
Does anyone in Sector 51 publish moving rules?
Not online, as far as we could tell on 23 October 2026. We looked for a website, notice board or rule book from the Mayfield Garden residents, the Orchid Island RWA, SS Mayfield Gardens and the co-operative societies on the Square Yards list, and found no moving hours, no shifting fee, no deposit and no move-in form. The pages that rank for "society shifting rules" in Gurgaon are general blogs that describe fees and slots without naming a single Sector 51 complex.
Rules can still exist without a web page. They tend to sit in an office file, a WhatsApp group or a guard's register. Treat anything you are told by phone as provisional until you have it in writing with a date, because office-bearers change and so do their circulars.
Who signs off a move in Orchid Island?
The residents' association, according to the public record. At a Haryana RERA hearing on 26 March 2019, brought by the Orchid Island Resident Welfare Association against the developer, the Authority's note says the RWA came into being on 18 August 2015 and that the project's maintenance was handed to it on 1 April 2018. The dispute then was over roughly Rs 12 crore the developer had collected from residents as maintenance security and for facade repairs.
A later HARERA order pronounced on 18 April 2023, in a buyer's complaint about maintenance charges, records the developer's maintenance agency as running the complex from 2013 until that April 2018 handover.
Two practical points follow for a move:
- Ask the RWA, not the builder's old office. The record says the association has run maintenance since 2018, so it is the body that can tell the guards to let your truck in.
- Get every payment receipted. Money held for maintenance has been disputed here before. If the office asks for a shifting charge or a refundable deposit, ask which committee decision set it and take a receipt.
We found no Orchid Island move form or timetable, so the questions at the end of this guide apply in full.
What about the Mayfield Garden streets and the old HUDA blocks?
Different bodies, same practical answer: there is no estate office to book. The Hindustan Times reported in December 2017 that the state had handed Sector 51, along with three neighbouring sectors, from HUDA to the municipal corporation. Mayfield Garden, the developer colony that takes up much of the sector, has a separate history. The Tribune reported on 28 June 2024 that the Chief Minister had ordered its long-pending transfer to the corporation within a week. Our Sector 51 newcomer's guide follows what happened after that; we found no report confirming the transfer was finished.
Either way, the road outside your gate is a public street, not society land. Nobody we found issues a permit to stand a moving truck on it, and nobody can reserve the kerb for you. On a floor, the staircase belongs to every household in the building, so agree the time with the families above and below, keep the landings clear of cartons, and tell the house next door when the truck is coming.
Can a colony gate stop the truck in the daytime?
It should not. When the planning department pulled down unapproved gates in two other colonies, PropNewsTime reported on 14 February 2025 that the Deputy Commissioner had ordered internal-road gates in HSVP sectors and licensed colonies to be kept open during daylight hours. Only boom barriers watched by security staff were to be allowed. Sector 51 contains both kinds of land.
A manned barrier still means a short stop. Send the truck's number and the crew leader's name to whoever runs it, if they ask. The report deals with colony and sector roads; it does not say it covers the entrance of a gated group-housing complex. Inside a compound such as Orchid Island or a tower, the society's own gate rules still apply, so ask that office separately.
What hours and road works limit the truck?
We found no traffic order that names Sector 51 alone. These citywide rules and dated plans do apply:
| Rule or plan | Detail | Reported by, and when | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Truck no-entry windows | Designated roads closed to goods vehicles from 8 until 10 am, then from 5 until 9 pm | Traffic police Digi Pass note, undated, read on GMDA's server 23 Oct 2026 | Ring the traffic helpline, 1095 |
| Ambedkar Chowk flyover | A 900-metre, four-lane flyover with four-lane service roads, two years to build | The Tribune, 8 May 2026 (tender stage) | Whether work and diversions have begun; we found no advisory by 23 Oct 2026 |
| Sector 51/52 dividing road | Special repairs on a 2.1 km stretch, drainage first, six-month target | The Indian Express, 16 Jun 2026 | If your gate opens onto it, look at the service lane two days ahead |
| Delhi entry | Outside-registered BS-IV goods vehicles may enter only up to 31 Oct 2026 | The Tribune, reported 27 Oct 2025 | Moving into Delhi? Confirm the truck's emission class |
Put the city hours together with your block's slot and the usable stretch is usually from about 10 am to 5 pm. The costs guide explains how that window shapes the crew's day. For a move that ends in Delhi, our Delhi house-shifting guide covers that city's own entry rules.
Which papers should owners and tenants have ready?
- Police verification for a tenant. The landlord files it; Gurugram Police take tenant and domestic-help details through their online service. Hand over your ID early, because a society office may ask to see the acknowledgement before it lets you in.
- The rent agreement or owner's letter, if the RWA or estate office wants proof that the owner consents.
- A no-dues receipt where a body collects maintenance, since some offices hold back a gate pass until the account is clear.
- The truck number and crew names, for any barrier or gate register.
- Written slot confirmation from the other end, so the truck is not turned away at the second gate.
What should you ask, and whom?
Raise these with your block's RWA or estate office and with your landlord, and save each answer:
- To do: Is there a written rule book or move form? Could I have a dated copy?
- To do: Who signs a gate pass, and on which days is the office open?
- To do: Is there a shifting charge or refundable deposit, which decision set it, and how is it refunded?
- To do: Must my maintenance dues be cleared before goods leave?
- To do: Between which hours may the truck load, and where may it stand?
- To do: Should I send the truck's registration and the crew list beforehand? How many days ahead?
- To do: Is any road or building work planned near my gate that week?
Key takeaway
Sector 51 has no published moving rules, so first work out which kind of address you live in, then get that body's rules on dated paper. Recheck the truck hours, the Ambedkar Chowk works and the 51/52 road in the week you move.
Once the slots are fixed at both ends, send us both addresses and we will plan the household shift around them. Should the next home not be ready, storage can hold everything for a few days.
This is general information for planning, read against the sources above in October 2026. Nothing here is legal advice, and none of it states what any Sector 51 association requires today. Society decisions, traffic orders and road works change, so confirm each one before your move.
