Moving to Sector 51 usually means moving into a builder floor or a house in Mayfield Garden, a privately developed colony, or into one of a few low-rise societies such as Orchid Island. The sector has two hospitals of its own, Artemis and CK Birla, but no metro station, so most newcomers drive. In your first week, find out who maintains your street, register the tenant verification and save the hospital numbers.
This guide is for families and renters arriving for the first time. It covers the homes, the roads, schools, hospitals and shops, and the paperwork to settle early. For the rainy and hot months, see our separate Sector 51 monsoon and heat guide.
What sort of home will you rent or buy in Sector 51?
Mostly floors and houses, with a few societies. NoBroker's Sector 51 page lists builder floors, apartments and independent houses, and names SS Mayfield Garden, Orchid Island, Princeton Floors, Abhinandan Apartments and Landmark Towers among the projects in the sector. It gives the pin code as 122018, the same one CK Birla Hospital and the local CBSE school use.
| Where you might live | What it is | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Mayfield Garden | A builder colony with lettered blocks (C, J and K appear in school and hospital addresses) | A floor or house on a colony street; stairs are common, parking is on the road |
| Orchid Island | Square Yards lists it as low-rise homes, 2 to 4 BHK, about 1,200 units on 11 acres | A gated compound with its own guards and maintenance office |
| Nirvana Country (part) | Unitech's township, which the developer places in Sectors 50 and 51 | Gate rules and RWA paperwork set by the township's resident body |
| Smaller apartment blocks | Names such as Abhinandan Apartments and Landmark Towers on NoBroker's list | Ask whether there is a lift, and who books it |
Square Yards' Orchid Island listing gives unit sizes of 1,158 to 1,888 sq ft and shows the project as ready to move in. Listing portals are a starting point, not a survey; visit at the hour you would leave for work and walk the block before you sign.
Who looks after Mayfield Garden's roads, water and sewers?
Ask before you sign, because the answer was still changing in the latest report we found. According to The Tribune, in June 2024 the Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, directed that the colony's long-delayed handover to the municipal corporation be completed. A month later, on 22 July 2024, PropNewsTime reported that the handover had stalled: the corporation wanted all 327 acres, the developer offered 291, and the developer was still maintaining the colony. Residents quoted in that report complained about potholed roads.
We found no later report saying the transfer was complete. So ask your landlord or the RWA three plain questions:
- Who repairs the street and clears the drains outside this house?
- Who supplies and bills the water? GMDA's water connection page says it connects only areas under its own jurisdiction; elsewhere, the municipal body supplies.
- Is there a maintenance charge, and who collects it?
Which junctions and main roads matter for the daily drive?
Three, and two of them are being rebuilt. Ambedkar Chowk, the junction shared by Sectors 45, 46, 51 and 52, is to get a 900 m flyover; GMDA invited tenders in May 2026 and expects it to be finished two years after building starts. Golf Course Extension Road, toward the west, is being widened to eight lanes between Sohna Road and Golf Course Road, The Tribune reported on 3 May 2026. And the Sector 51–52 dividing road is due a rebuild with drains, covered in our monsoon guide.
Expect lanes to narrow or shift while the works go on. Before you settle school or office timings, drive the route once at the hour you will actually use it.
Is there a metro near Sector 51?
Not yet. Wikipedia's Gurugram Metro article lists the first-phase stops on the new line starting at Millennium City Centre, and Sector 51 is not among them; the nearest planned stops are Sector 45 and Sector 47. Civil work began in November 2025, and the target for opening is 2028, so treat that date as a plan, not a promise.
Until then, most homes here are nearest to the Yellow Line's Millennium City Centre station, about 4 km away by NoBroker's measure.
Which schools are in or next to Sector 51?
Two schools give Sector 51 or Mayfield Garden addresses, and two more are just across the line in Sector 50:
- Manav Rachna International School. CBSE's affiliation record gives Block C, Mayfield Gardens, Sector 50/51, and lists it as a secondary-level school founded in 2010.
- Euro International School. The school's own site gives K Block, Mayfield Garden, Sector 51, with wings from day care to senior classes.
- Lotus Valley International School. School directories give M Block, Nirvana Country, Sector 50.
- DPS International. It gives its address as W Block, South City II, Sector 50, beside Golf Course Extension Road.
Seats, bus routes and fees change every year, so ask each school directly, and ask whether its bus stops near your block. If you are moving mid-session, let the transfer certificate and the last report card travel with you rather than in a packed box.
Where are the nearest hospitals?
Inside the sector. Artemis Hospital gives its address as Sector 51; Wikipedia describes it as a 600-bed hospital opened in 2007, accredited by JCI in 2013 and NABH in 2017. CK Birla Hospital gives Block J, Mayfield Garden, Sector 51.
Save both numbers on day one, and note which gate of each is nearest your home. Living close to a hospital also means ambulances on your roads; keep your car out of the approach lanes when you park.
Where will you shop in the first week?
Mall 51 is the sector's own mall: Croma's store page puts it on the ground floor of Mall 51, Sector 51, near Artemis Hospital, opening at 11 am. That is useful for a replacement charger or a kettle on day two. NoBroker's page also lists Good Earth City Centre, Baani Square and Ardee Mall as shopping nearby. For daily groceries, ask neighbours which shop delivers to your block; shop rows change faster than portals do.
What should renters and families settle in the first week?
Paperwork first, then the house. Use this as a checklist:
- To do: Tenant verification. When we checked in October 2026, Haryana Police listed Tenant/PG verification among its online services for a fee of Rs 50; either the landlord or the tenant may file it. Check the current fee before applying, and keep a copy for the RWA.
- To do: Property ID and dues (owners). The ULB Haryana property portal lets you look up a property ID, pay dues and generate a no-dues certificate.
- To do: Water and power accounts. Read the meters on arrival and photograph them with the date.
- To do: RWA or estate office. Register your name, your car and your domestic help; ask about gate passes for deliveries.
- To do: Rent check. NoBroker's April 2026 ranges were about Rs 15,000 to 35,000 for a 1 BHK, Rs 35,000 to 55,000 for a 2 BHK and Rs 55,000 to 75,000 for a 3 BHK; compare against current listings before you agree a figure.
- To do: Emergency numbers. Both hospitals, the RWA office and the nearest police post.
How does moving day work in a Sector 51 floor?
The stairs and the street set the pace. Our Sector 51 page explains how we plan it: the stair width and turns are measured at the survey, the truck stands outside your gate on the colony street, and near Artemis Hospital we load from a side street where we can, so emergency vehicles are not slowed. Ask neighbours to keep the kerb free the night before.
An undated traffic police note linked from GMDA's Vehicle Movement Digi Pass page says commercial vehicles may not use designated roads during the morning peak (8–10 am) or the evening peak (5–9 pm). Because it carries no date, check the current hours before you fix a slot. For the full service, see household shifting and packing and moving services; for anywhere else in the city, see packers and movers in Gurgaon. If you are coming from the township next door, our Nirvana Country page covers its gate procedure.
To plan your move, send us both addresses and your floor numbers.
This guide is general information from the sources named above, checked in October 2026. Rents, fees, school details and road works change, so confirm them with the body concerned before you act.
