Very few societies along Sohna Road publish their moving rules: as of October 2026, the Nirvana Country RWA was the only association on the corridor we found with written rules that touch on a move. Everywhere else, the rules are whatever your facility office says, so before you book a truck, ask it in writing about the move request, the lift slot, dues clearance and, if you rent, the owner's consent.

This post covers the rules, permissions and timings that apply to a Sohna Road move, and says plainly where nothing is published. For the townships along the road and their character, read our Sohna Road moving guide; for how we plan a move on the corridor, see our Sohna Road packers and movers page.

Who decides what you may do on moving day?

Three different bodies, each with its own part of the day.

  1. The society. In an established complex, that means the residents' welfare association or apartment owners' association and the facility team it employs. In a project still being handed over, it is usually the developer's maintenance team. Our Sector 68 rules post explains who runs a new tower before owners take over.
  2. The traffic police. They set the hours when commercial vehicles may use the city's roads, and they add extra restrictions around national events.
  3. The planning department. It decides what counts as a public road. On 12 September 2025, PropNewsTime reported that the DTCP had removed a fenced park a resident association had made out of part of an internal road at Uppal Southend in Sector 49, saying private parties cannot alter or restrict public spaces without official sanction. Inside a licensed colony, a lane that looks private may be a public road, and a gate across it may not be lawful.

For a move, the first layer matters most. The other two decide when the truck can drive and which way it can come in.

Which Sohna Road societies publish moving rules?

We searched for published moving rules from the societies below. This is what we found, as of October 2026:

Society or colony Sector Moving rules published online? What to do
Nirvana Country 50 Yes: the RWA's 2019 terms cover the move-out NOC and tenant registration Read our Sohna Road guide, which sets them out
South City II 49 None found See our Sector 49 rules post
Rosewood City 49 None found Ask the RWA office which gate a truck may use
Vipul Greens 48 None found Ask the facility office for its move hours and lift booking
Central Park, Sector 48 48 None found Ask the estate office for its move request form
Bestech Park View Spa 47 None found Ask the facility office for the slot and any deposit
Malibu Towne 47 No moving rules; several associations Our Malibu Towne guide shows which body covers which block

"None found" does not mean "no rules". Usually it means the rules live on notice boards, in residents' groups or with the facility manager. That is exactly why a written reply matters: when a guard and a resident disagree at the gate, the email settles it.

What do reported figures say about fees, deposits and slots?

Reported surveys and guides give a range, not a rule. Treat them as a way to judge what your own society asks.

  • Fees. NoBrokerHood's Gurgaon guide, published on 18 September 2026, puts a society shifting fee at about Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 or more, plus in some places a non-refundable admin charge of Rs 500 to Rs 2,000. It says there is no fixed Gurgaon-wide figure.
  • Deposits. The same guide reports refundable deposits of about Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 where a society charges one.
  • Slots. A MyGate survey of housing societies, published in July 2025 and covering cities across India rather than Gurgaon alone, found 36% of societies enforcing pre-approved time slots and 48% preferring flexible timing with prior notice.
  • What goes wrong. The same survey listed incomplete documentation (68%), unapproved moving times (64%) and unpaid dues (60%) as the commonest problems.

Those three problems are the ones to rule out first. Each is solved with paper before the day.

When can the truck run on Sohna Road?

There are three clocks to fit together: the city's, the calendar's and the society's.

The city's daily windows. On designated roads, commercial vehicles are barred for two hours from 8 am and for four hours from 5 pm, according to the traffic police's explainer for the Vehicle Movement Digi Pass, which GMDA hosts. The permits that document offers go to essential services, not household moves, so the practical answer is a truck that arrives after ten and is unloaded before five. Because the explainer is undated, ask the traffic police whether the windows still apply.

The calendar. National events bring longer bans. Before Republic Day 2026, according to Millennium Post, medium and heavy goods vehicles faced two bans that began on the evenings of 22 and 25 January at 5 pm and lifted at 1:30 pm the following afternoon, with local heavy traffic sent via Sohna, Hero Honda Chowk and other points. Expect a similar advisory each January, and check for one before any national-event date.

The society's hours. No Sohna Road society on our list publishes them. Ask for the permitted days and hours by email, Sundays and public holidays included.

Does a plotted colony on the road work differently?

Yes. Rosewood City, the plotted parts of South City II and the floors in Malibu Towne have no tower lift to book, so the permission you need is narrower and the people involved are closer to home. Expect three conversations rather than one form:

  • The colony's gate. Expect the guards to note the truck number and the house number, and perhaps to call you to confirm.
  • Your building's other floors. On a plot with several floors, the stair, any small lift and the stilt driveway are shared, so agree the hours with the other households directly.
  • The lane outside. Where a colony's internal roads are public, as the DTCP's action in Sector 49 shows they can be, the truck may stand on the lane like any other vehicle, but neighbours' parked cars still decide how close it gets. Ask them the evening before.

None of this is written down for the colonies on our list, which is one more reason to settle it in person a week ahead.

What papers should you have ready?

Paper Who may ask Moving out Moving in
Move request or gate pass Facility office at each end Yes Yes
Proof of cleared maintenance dues Old society Often Rarely
Owner's NOC or consent Old and new society, for tenants Often Often
Rent agreement or possession letter New society Rarely Often
Tenant police verification Landlord files it; some offices ask for a copy Rarely Often
Truck number and crew names Guards at both gates Yes Yes

Landlords can file tenant verification through the citizen services on the Gurugram Police website, so a renter should check with the owner that it is done before the new society asks for proof. For electricity and other closing accounts, our Sohna Road page covers the steps.

What should you ask your facility office before booking?

Send these questions by email to both buildings about ten days ahead, and keep the replies:

  • To do: Is a written move request needed, and how many days before?
  • To do: Do you need an owner's letter for a tenant, and in what form?
  • To do: Must dues be cleared first? Will you give a receipt the guard accepts?
  • To do: Which days and hours may goods move? Are Sundays allowed?
  • To do: Is there a fee or deposit, how much, and how is a deposit refunded?
  • To do: Which lift, which gate and which loading point should the truck use?
  • To do: Is there a limit on truck size at the gate or the basement ramp?
  • To do: Will the guards want vehicle and crew details, and by when?

If one office answers and the other does not, plan around the stricter answer. When the old and new homes give different windows, packing the day before and loading early usually lets unloading fit the later slot. Our household shifting service covers the whole day, and if possession of the new flat slips, the goods can wait in our storage.

When you have both buildings' answers, send us the addresses and dates and we will fit the crew and the start time to them.

This post is general information drawn from the published and reported sources named above, checked in October 2026. Society rules, fees and traffic restrictions change, so confirm the current position with your facility office and the traffic police before you act on them.
