No society or RWA in Sector 49 that we could find publishes its own rules for shifting house, so your permissions come from your building's office, the law that governs apartment societies, and the city's truck timings. The only published rules near the sector belong to the Nirvana Country RWA next door: a move-out NOC that is ready seven days after you apply, and a 9 am to 6 pm, no-10-tyre-truck limit that is written for construction vehicles, not for household moves.
This guide sets out what each source actually says, where nothing is published, and the questions to put to your society office before you book a truck.
Who sets the moving rules in Sector 49?
It depends on who looks after your building, and in Sector 49 that differs from one address to the next. The sector holds a plotted colony, older group-housing societies and towers still being finished:
- South City II. Unitech places this colony in Sectors 49 and 50. Unitech's board, in a public notice dated 1 January 2026, records that the colony passed to the city's municipal corporation in 2020, which has shared its upkeep with the colony's RWA since that September.
- Group-housing societies. Vatika Group gives Vatika City a Sector 49 address where Sohna Road meets Golf Course Extension Road. Uppal Southend lies here too: Omaxe lists its Gurgaon mall in Block S of Uppal Southend, Sector 49.
- New towers. Godrej Aristocrat and Elan The Statement are both Sector 49 projects marked as under construction in a Wikipedia table of the city's tall buildings.
| Where you live | Who you ask | Published moving rules found (Oct 2026) | What to get in writing |
|---|---|---|---|
| South City II floor or house | South City II RWA; block neighbours | None | Whether the RWA wants notice of the date and truck number |
| Society flat (e.g. Vatika City) | The society's maintenance or facility office | None | Lift slot, permitted hours, deposit, dues clearance |
| Newly completed tower | The developer's facility team | None | Which lift, whether the ramp is open, fit-out priority |
| Nirvana Country, next door | Nirvana Residents Welfare Association | Yes: NOC, tenant rules, gate SOP | NOC, landlord's NOC, gate entry |
"None" here means we found no rules online; your office may still have a circular on its notice board. Ask for it.
What does Haryana law say about society rules?
For flats in a society registered under the Haryana Apartment Ownership Act, 1983, the society's bye-laws carry real weight. Section 7 of the Act requires every apartment owner to comply strictly with the bye-laws and with the conditions in the declaration and the deed, and lets the board of managers sue for dues, damages or an injunction if they do not. Section 16 says each property is to be run under bye-laws filed with the competent authority, and that those bye-laws must cover how rules for using the common areas and facilities are made and changed.
Lifts, lobbies, driveways and gates are common areas. So when a society office tells you the service lift is booked by slot, or that goods may move only in daytime hours, it is usually drawing on that power. Two practical points follow:
- Ask for the rule in writing, ideally the circular or the bye-law clause, so the guard on duty and the office are working from the same text.
- If you rent, the owner signed the deed and is bound by it; get the owner to request the move slot, or at least to confirm your request.
The Act does not set any timings or charges for moves itself. Those come from each society.
Does South City II publish moving rules?
No set of shifting rules from the South City II RWA was available online when we checked. The colony is a plotted one, mostly floors and houses on lettered blocks, and since 2020 the municipal corporation and the RWA have shared its upkeep, per the Unitech notice above.
What is on record is how the RWA handles requests for its facilities. When candidates asked to campaign in the colony during the 2025 civic polls, the RWA said its hall in F Block was open to them once the association had approved a written request stating the date and time, The Tribune reported on 25 February 2025. That is not a moving rule, but it shows the association works on written requests with dates attached, so approach it the same way.
For a floor move in South City II, the practical questions are less about permits than about the lane: where the truck can stand, whether the family on the other floor knows, and whether the block guard expects a truck. Our own branch sits in Block F of the colony, at Shop No. 815, so the crew usually knows the blocks. More on floor moves here is on our South City 2 page.
What does the Nirvana Country RWA require next door?
Nirvana Country, which Unitech places in Sectors 50 and 51 and which was developed alongside South City II, is the one association close to Sector 49 that publishes its rules. Three of its documents matter for a move:
- Leaving needs an NOC. Its 2019 terms and conditions say an owner or tenant who sells, lets or moves out must take an NOC from the RWA office. Expect to wait a week for it, with every RWA bill cleared beforehand, and if you rent, bring a no-objection from your landlord as well.
- Tenants are registered with the police. The same terms make police registration of tenants, domestic staff, drivers and workers compulsory, applied for by the owner, with a copy given to the RWA.
- Visitors' vehicles are logged. The security procedure of March 2019 admits cars carrying the RWA sticker straight away; any other vehicle, a moving truck included, is logged at the gate, and security rings the household it is visiting, on the intercom or by phone, before letting it through.
If you are moving from Sector 49 into Nirvana Country, the NOC is the other household's concern, but the gate check is yours: give the guards your truck number and a phone number that will be answered.
Is the 9 am to 6 pm, no-10-tyre-truck rule a moving rule?
No. It is a construction rule. The Nirvana Country RWA's notice on construction and renovation, dated March 2015, lets trucks bringing building material enter between 9 am and 6 pm, and only from Monday to Saturday. It bars 10-tyre vehicles from Nirvana Country altogether. The notice is addressed to residents building or renovating, and says nothing about household moves.
It is still a useful guide, for two reasons. First, gate staff who enforce it daily may apply the same limits to any large goods vehicle, whatever it carries. Second, it tells you the size of truck the colony's roads and gates are set up for. That is why we plan Nirvana Country moves with a truck smaller than 10 tyres and a slot inside those hours, but it is our planning choice, not an RWA rule for movers. Ask the RWA office directly whether it applies the construction hours to a moving truck, and on which days.
Note
Nothing like this construction notice has been published for South City II or for any Sector 49 society we checked. Do not assume a 9-to-6 window applies to your building; ask.
What permission does a newly finished tower need?
Usually it comes from the developer's facility team rather than a residents' body, because owners take over the common areas some time after handover. No moving rules from Godrej Aristocrat or Elan The Statement were published when we checked, so the questions are practical:
- Which lift is assigned to moves, and is it shared with interior fit-out crews?
- Is the basement ramp open to a goods vehicle, and what is its height limit?
- Are there days, such as Sundays or the handover weeks, when moves are not allowed?
- Is there a refundable deposit for lift or lobby damage, and how is it returned?
Get the answers by email. In a building where staff are still changing, a written reply is what settles a dispute at the gate.
When can a moving truck use the roads?
The city's limits on trucks are separate from any society's rules. In a reply posted on X in January 2020, the Gurugram Traffic Police listed no-entry hours for heavy vehicles of 8:00–10:00 am and 5:00–9:00 pm, extended to 5:00–10:30 pm on Mondays and Fridays. That post is more than six years old, and it speaks of heavy vehicles; whether a particular moving truck counts depends on its size, so check with the traffic police before you fix a time.
National days bring short, stricter curbs. Before Republic Day 2025, for example, curbs on heavy and medium goods vehicles covered two spells, the evening of 22 January into the next afternoon and the evening of 25 January into the afternoon of the parade, according to ThePrint, with traffic diverted at Sohna, Hero Honda Chowk and other points. Keep a late-January move clear of those evenings.
The route out of Sector 49 is changing as well. In September 2026 Godrej Properties said it had built a 24-metre link between Sector 49 and the SPR, in a press release carried by The Tribune. For a load bound for NH-48 it may avoid the Sohna Road junctions; see our Sector 49 page for how we choose the approach.
What should you ask your society before booking?
Ask these questions a week before the move, at both the old and the new address, and keep the replies:
- To do: Is a move request, NOC or gate pass needed, and how many days does it take?
- To do: Must maintenance or RWA dues be cleared first? Is a receipt needed at the gate?
- To do: If you rent, does the owner have to sign or send the request?
- To do: Which hours and days are goods allowed to move, in writing?
- To do: Which lift, which gate and which loading point are you to use?
- To do: Is there a size limit for trucks at the gate or the basement ramp?
- To do: Is a refundable deposit charged, and what does it cover?
- To do: Will the guards need the truck number, driver's name or crew IDs, and by when?
When the two buildings give different hours, we pack the day before and load early, so unloading fits the later window. Our household shifting service covers the full day, and if the new flat is not ready, goods can wait in storage between the two dates. For a wider look at the colonies along this road, read our Sohna Road moving guide.
To plan a move with your society's rules in hand, send us both addresses and your dates.
This article is general information drawn from the published sources named above, checked in October 2026. Society, RWA and traffic rules can change without notice, so confirm the current rules with your society office and the traffic police before acting on them.
