Golf Course Road is the older, finished half of the corridor, with DLF-built condominiums, low-rise floors and the Rapid Metro along it; Golf Course Extension Road is the newer half, where many towers are recent or still rising and the road itself is being widened. Which suits your move depends on the home you have chosen, not on the road, so this guide sets the published facts side by side and leaves the ranking out.
Every fact below has a named, dated source listed at the end. Where something may have changed since the source was written, the text says so.
Where does each road run, and which sectors does it serve?
The two roads are one corridor with a hand-over point. DLF's project brief for the signal-free road it built with HUDA measures 8.3 km from DLF Gateway Tower on NH-48 to the rotary at Sectors 55 and 56. On the way, the road passes the four sectors of DLF City Phase V, which DLF's compliance report numbers 42, 43, 53 and 54.
From the rotary, the Extension Road carries on south-east. In May 2026 The Tribune called it the road that joins Golf Course Road to Sohna Road, and said it serves Sectors 58 to 67.
So the first question is simply which sector your new address is in. Our pages for Golf Course Road, DLF Phase 5, Sector 58, Sector 60 and Sector 65 cover the moving detail sector by sector.
How do the two roads compare side by side?
| Golf Course Road | Golf Course Extension Road | |

What kind of home is on each road?
On Golf Course Road, much of the housing is DLF's own. Its compliance filing names Magnolias, Belaire, Park Place and The Aralias among the group housing of Phase V. The height runs both ways: Wikipedia's Delhi-NCR list gives DLF Camellias on Camellias Road, Sector 42, as 39 floors and 156 metres, finished in 2017, while The Grove in Sector 54 appears on DLF's luxury homes page as low-rise 4 and 5 BHK floors. A Camellias move is a lift job from top to bottom; a Grove move depends more on the staircase and the lane.
On Golf Course Extension Road, the towers are mostly newer. In Wikipedia's tallest-buildings list for Gurgaon, Ireo Grand Arch appears in Sector 58 (four towers of 30 floors, 2014), Ireo Skyon in Sector 60 (39 floors, 2018), Pioneer Park in Sector 61 (33 floors, 2020) and Ireo Victory Valley in Sector 67. The same list shows Conscient Elevate (33 floors) and Mahindra Luminare (36 floors) in Sector 59 as under construction. M3M places its Golf Estate in Sector 65 on the Extension Road.
Not everything there is a tower. Adani Realty lists Samsara in Sector 60 as independent floors, and its Samsara Arya project, also in Sector 60, as a stilt-plus-four building with a single home on each floor, under construction with possession given as December 2026. Oberoi Realty launched Three Sixty North, spread over 14.8 acres in Sector 58, in June 2026, Business Standard reported.
For a mover, the practical split is age. An established Golf Course Road condominium usually has a working facility desk, a known service lift and settled rules. A tower handed over recently on the Extension Road may still be finishing its approach road, lift arrangements and gate system.
How does a truck reach each road?
Golf Course Road has no traffic signals to turn across. DLF's brief shows six underpasses, two of them for U-turns, on a carriageway 78 metres wide with a limit of 80 km/h, and says about 5,000 trees, footpaths and cycle tracks were planted along it. A driver who misses a gate goes on to the next U-turn underpass, so send the exact gate position and the side of the road beforehand. In office towers, parking may be controlled: DLF says its Horizon Center uses RFID-enabled car parking, so ask the facility team how a visiting truck is let in.
Golf Course Extension Road is a work in progress. The Tribune's May 2026 report said the tender for the eight-lane upgrade was complete and the agency had mobilised, with drains on both sides, footpaths, LED lighting and a traffic plan for the construction period. At its south-eastern end, the Vatika Chowk underpass, opened in November 2023, links it with the SPR. In October 2025 The Daily Jagran reported two GMDA options for five junctions along the 6 km Ghata–Vatika Chowk stretch: a flyover costing Rs 578 crore or an underpass costing Rs 658 crore, with the Chief Minister to decide. Check what has been decided, and where the diversions are, in the week of your move.
On both roads, the no-entry hours for goods vehicles, as set out in an undated traffic police note hosted by GMDA, run from 8 until 10 in the morning and from 5 until 9 in the evening on designated areas. Confirm the current hours before fixing the truck's slot.
What about the metro?
Only Golf Course Road has one. Wikipedia's Rapid Metro article puts four stations on it: Sector 55–56 at the southern end, then Sector 54 Chowk, Sector 53–54 and, furthest north, Sector 42–43. Most of that southern extension opened on 31 March 2017, with the Sector 42–43 and Sector 53–54 stops following on 25 April 2017.
The Extension Road has no line. According to the Gurugram Metro article, a project report for an extension from Sector 55–56 towards Pachgaon was ready in September 2025, with stations including Sectors 61, 62 and 66, and construction planned to begin in 2029. Treat that as a plan, not a date to move around.
Which rules differ when you move in?
Most of the rules are the same on both roads: the society or tower management sets lift bookings, move hours, gate passes and any deposit. Those are covered in detail in our high-rise guide for Golf Course Road.
The one that differs in practice is the occupancy certificate, because more homes on the Extension Road are newly finished. The RERA Act, 2016 makes the promoter responsible, under section 11(4)(b), for obtaining the completion or occupancy certificate from the competent authority and making it available to buyers. Section 19(10) then gives every buyer two months from the issue of that certificate to take physical possession. Before fixing the day you move into a new tower, request a copy of the certificate from the developer, and ask the facility team from when the service lift can be used.
If you are renting rather than buying, the same certificate is still worth asking about: it tells you the building has been cleared for people to live in.
Does the road change what the move costs?
No. Our indicative bands for a move within the city do not distinguish between the two roads (October 2026): Rs 4,500–7,000 covers a one-bedroom home; for two bedrooms the band is Rs 8,000–12,500, and for three it is Rs 12,000–15,000. Within those ranges, the price is moved by the floor you live on, how long the crew waits for the lift, and how much furniture has to come apart. See our Gurgaon page for the full table and household shifting for what is included.
Monsoon risk is also shared. In August 2025 The Tribune put both Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension on its list of about 100 spots that waterlog again and again. A July to September move on either road needs a spare date.
Which questions should settle it for you?
- Is the home ready? On the Extension Road, ask for the occupancy certificate and the lift hand-over date.
- How high is it? A 39-floor or 51-floor tower means a long lift slot; a low-rise floor means stairs and a lane.
- Will you use the metro? If yes, Golf Course Road has stations today; the Extension Road does not.
- Which way will the truck come? Signal-free with U-turn underpasses on one road, roadworks and junction projects on the other.
- Are you moving an office too? Many Golf Course Road towers are offices, and we can plan a home and an office move together; see office relocation.
Key takeaway
Golf Course Road offers settled DLF-built housing and a working metro; Golf Course Extension Road offers newer and still-rising towers on a road that is being rebuilt. Choose the home first, then check its sector, its lift and, for a new tower, its occupancy certificate.
