Moving in Sector 79 in the monsoon turns on two roads: the narrow Naurangpur link to NH-48, which has a record of waterlogging, and the Southern Peripheral Road, where police sent highway traffic when NH-48 caved in on 7 July 2026. This guide goes live on 31 October 2026, more than a month after IMD declared the monsoon over in Delhi, so the limits on a move this week are smog-season rules and power cuts; the rain and heat sections are for planning a move between next May and September.
All of it rests on dated reports and one building filing for the sector, each listed at the end. For booking and the service itself, go to packers and movers in Sector 79 Gurgaon; for approvals and gate passes, our Sector 79 rules guide.
What limits a Sector 79 move right now, at the end of October?
Air quality and electricity, more than weather. Three dated changes matter this week:
| Date | What happened | Source | What it means for moving day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 Oct 2026 | HERC granted Eleven Power a 25-year parallel licence to distribute electricity in Gurugram and Nuh | The Tribune | Nothing yet: existing consumers need not act, and supply on the new network is planned from 2027-28 |
| 21–24 Oct 2026 | Power staff struck against that licence from 10 pm on 21 October; about 3,000 complaints came in within 12 hours | Republic World | Long cuts are possible outside summer too; the state said it would challenge the licence, so the dispute may flare again |
| 21 Oct 2026 | GRAP Stage I invoked across the NCR; Gurugram's AQI was 216 that day | Business Today | No stop on household goods vehicles at this stage |
The detail to watch is the generator. Business Today noted that the GRAP schedule revised in September 2026 moved certain diesel generator-set measures from Stage II into Stage I, so they are now part of the stage already in force. In a tower where the service lift falls back on diesel during a cut, ask the facility office two things before you book: is our generator allowed to run under the current stage, and will it power the service lift? By 30 October we had found no order for a higher stage. If one is invoked before your date, the higher stages are where trucks face curbs, and our rules guide explains what that means for a move into Delhi.
What does Sector 79's own building filing say about rain and power?
Quite a lot, for one estate. The Godrej Aria page on Godrej Properties' website links to an environmental clearance issued by Haryana's environment impact authority on 1 May 2017 for the expansion of a group housing colony at Village Naurangpur, Sector 79. It covers a larger site than Aria alone, 17.43 acres in two parcels, so treat it as a guide to how a big tower estate here was designed, not as a description of your block:
| Item in the clearance | What it says | Why a mover cares |
|---|---|---|
| Blocks | 16, each basement + ground + 14 floors | Most homes are high enough to need the service lift |
| Height | 44.5 metres | Carrying a wardrobe down the stairs is not a fallback |
| Power | 8,956 kW from DHBVN | The lifts run on the state grid in normal times |
| Backup | Diesel generator sets for lifts, common-area lighting and domestic use | When the grid fails, the lift depends on the generator |
| Rain | 17 rainwater harvesting pits; roof and surface run-off to be recharged | Rain is meant to soak away on site, not stand in the driveway |
Two notes of caution. A clearance sets conditions; it does not prove how a building performs in a cloudburst. And it says nothing about how many hours the backup lasts, which is the question for a long moving day.
Which way does a truck come in when it rains?
Whichever entry is clear on the morning, and that can change. Sector 79 has two approaches. The first, the Naurangpur road to Rampura Chowk, was described by Business Today on 22 July 2026 as about 5.5 metres at its widest, with a long-standing waterlogging problem that the planned six-lane rebuild is meant to fix with surface drains. Work was expected to start in August 2026; we found no report of a start by 30 October, so next monsoon may arrive with the old road, or with a road half dug up.
The second approach is the Southern Peripheral Road. Its 2026 record is mixed:
- 7 July 2026. After the season's first heavy rain, part of the NH-48 carriageway near Narsinghpur gave way, closing two lanes. The Tribune quoted a traffic advisory telling Jaipur-bound drivers to leave the highway at Rajiv Chowk or Hero Honda Chowk for SPR. When the highway shuts, the sector's quieter entry fills with diverted traffic.
- 28 July 2026. About 35 mm fell in some 40 minutes. A PTI report carried by ThePrint said that on SPR, at AIT Chowk and at Narsinghpur, cleaned drains, added inlets and a green belt lowered to take run-off kept water from standing for long, and traffic recovered quickly.
- The master drain. In February 2026 officials targeted the storm-water drain along SPR, from Vatika Chowk to NH-48, for completion by 31 May 2026, according to a PTI report on Devdiscourse. We found no report confirming it was finished.
So on a wet morning, check both roads before the truck sets off. If water is standing across either one, the truck waits or the slot moves; nobody should drive a loaded vehicle or carry furniture through floodwater. The neighbouring Sector 80 season guide covers the highway side and its drain works in more detail.
When does the next monsoon usually arrive and leave?
Late June to late September, going by IMD's normals for Delhi, the nearest official station record. Its press release of 23 September 2026 gives both the normal dates and this year's:
| Onset over Delhi | Withdrawal from Delhi | Rain at Safdarjung from 1 June | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 27 June | 25 September | 629.7 mm to 23 September |
| 2026 | 2 July | 23 September | 728.6 mm, 16% above normal |
Safdarjung is in Delhi, not Gurugram, so treat the rainfall as a regional guide. For a Sector 79 move in 2027, that means:
- Before about 20 June: a heat problem, not a rain problem.
- Late June to late September: keep a second date in writing with both societies, as our area page says we do from July to September.
- From October: rain is unlikely, but watch the GRAP stage and the generator question above.
How hot will a summer moving day be?
Hot from March and severe by May. Amar Ujala recorded 32.5°C on 1 March 2026, saying heat had come ahead of schedule. On 20 May the same paper put the city at 44.5°C by day and 28°C at night, 3.7 degrees above normal, under an orange heat-wave alert running to 24 May; a local weather expert said that being outside from late morning until 4 pm put health at risk.
In a 14-floor block, that window decides the order of work:
- Heavy pieces down first, while it is cooler: fridge, washing machine, beds, wardrobes.
- Service lift booked for the earliest slot the society allows, since lift queues are slowest at midday.
- Screens, medicines, candles, cosmetics and plants in your own car, so they do not sit in a closed truck.
- Water and shade for everyone, including your own family, and a pause rather than a push if the job runs past late morning.
A summer power cut makes heat worse: the lift and the fans stop together. Ask the facility office in advance how long the generator can carry the lifts, and keep phones charged.
Which months suit a Sector 79 move?
| Months | What the dated record shows | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| November to February | GRAP stages can rise in smog season; Stage I in force from 21 Oct 2026 | Check the stage the week before; confirm the generator can run |
| March to April | 32.5°C already on 1 March 2026 | Morning loading; no special risk on record |
| May to mid-June | 44.5°C on 20 May 2026; heat alert to 24 May | Finish heavy work by late morning; generator check |
| Late June to September | NH-48 cave-in and SPR diversion, 7 July 2026; Naurangpur road waterlogging | Spare date, covered loading point, look at both roads that morning |
| October | Monsoon gone by 23 September 2026; power strike from 21 October | Usual planning; ask about backup power |
This is a record of what happened in 2026, not a forecast for 2027.
What goes on a Sector 79 weather checklist?
- To do: Tell us the society, block and floor, and which gate trucks use.
- To do: Ask the facility office whether the generator may run under the current GRAP stage, and whether it covers the service lift.
- To do: From late June to late September, agree a reserve date in writing.
- To do: On the morning, check the Naurangpur road and SPR for standing water and diversions.
- To do: For a May or June date, ask both buildings for their first lift slot of the day.
- To do: Carry papers, jewellery, medicines and chargers yourself.
- To do: Keep towels, plastic sheets and a mop for the lobby at both ends.
If the flat or the road is not ready on the day, the load can wait in our warehouse. Crew hours, lift waits and long carries across the courtyards are covered in our Sector 79 local shifting guide, and schools, hospitals and shops in our Sector 79 newcomer guide.
Does the season change what you pay?
No. The owner's indicative bands, dated October 2026, are the same in every month. Inside Gurgaon, the one-bedroom band starts from Rs 4,500, capped at Rs 7,000; the two-bedroom band spans Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,500; the three-bedroom band, Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000. From Sector 79 to Delhi, a one-bedroom load costs Rs 7,000–8,000; add a second bedroom and the band becomes Rs 10,000–13,500, add a third and it is Rs 14,000–16,500. Weather costs time rather than a surcharge: a wait for a road to clear, a midday pause, or storage, which is quoted separately. Why one quote sits higher in its band than another is the subject of our Gurgaon charges guide.
Key takeaway
In late 2026, a Sector 79 move is limited by smog-season rules that now reach diesel generators at Stage I, and by a power supply that failed in the October strike. For next year, plan around the narrow Naurangpur road and SPR diversions from late June to September, and 44°C days in May. Confirm the lift's backup, keep a reserve date in the wet months, and finish heavy carrying by late morning in summer.
When a date firms up, write to us with both addresses and the block and floor at each end.
Everything above is general information drawn from the filing and reports listed, read on 30 October 2026. GRAP stages, drains, road works and power supply change quickly, so check IMD warnings, CAQM orders and your facility office's notices before you settle on a date.
