For a move in Dwarka Sector 10, the weather risk in 2026 came in short, dated bursts: heat-wave days in the second half of May and on 28 and 29 June, then two very wet days at Palam in early September. The sector adds its own pinch points, chiefly the court complex, which DDA counts among its waterlogging-prone sites, and the crowded station and market fronts, so plan around the daily forecast, the court calendar and, from 1 November, Delhi's truck rules.
How we pack and load a Sector 10 flat, from society plots to the DDA pocket, is explained where we describe our packers and movers in Dwarka Sector 10 service; the nearest of our offices, the Delhi branch in Sector 12, is two stops along the Blue Line. This post stays with the weather: what 2026 brought, where Sector 10 gets difficult in heat and rain, and what changes once the monsoon has gone.
What did 2026 bring at the weather station nearest Sector 10?
An uneven season. Of Delhi's manual observatories, the one nearest Dwarka is IMD's station at Palam airport, and its 2026 record swung from a dry first half to a very wet finish:
| Period | What IMD recorded | What it meant for a Sector 10 move |
|---|---|---|
| May | Heat-wave conditions over Delhi on six days between the 18th and the 27th; warm nights on the 21st and 25th; Palam rain 19% below normal | Hot loading days, with little relief overnight |
| June | Heat wave on the 28th and 29th; Palam rain 27% below normal | The hottest end of the month fell in the courts' vacation |
| July | Palam 182.1 mm, 11% below normal, while Safdarjung was 23% above | The citywide headline overstated Dwarka's rain |
| September | Palam 201.2 mm, 84% above normal; 64.2 mm on the 2nd and 84.0 mm on the 5th | Two very wet Palam days arrived late in the season |
| 23 September | Monsoon declared withdrawn from Delhi | Rain risk largely over |
Sources: IMD's monthly reports for May, June, July and September, and its withdrawal notice. We found no August report in IMD's online archive when we searched on 26 October 2026. The September contrast between Palam and the other observatories is laid out in our Sector 12 monsoon guide, and Palam's monthly normals in our Sector 13 guide.
The practical point is that a "dry" July or a quiet headline for Delhi says little about Dwarka. Check a forecast for south-west Delhi, or the Palam figure, for the day you have in mind.
Why watch the court complex road after rain?
Because officials already do. On 14 May 2026, The Tribune reported that the Lieutenant Governor had reviewed DDA's Desilting Action Plan-2026 and set 15 June as the deadline for drain cleaning and anti-waterlogging work. The same report listed 11 waterlogging-prone sites under DDA, and Dwarka Court was one of them, alongside Pathar Market in Sector 20 and parts of Sectors 22 and 23.
The report also gives a sense of scale. Of the 494.876 km of drains DDA maintains in its six zones, the Dwarka zone holds 192.33 km, more than any other. The list and the deadline show where officials expect trouble; neither promises a dry road on the morning after a downpour.
This matches older local reporting. In July 2025, Dwarka City named Sector 10 among the places where water collects again and again after rain. So after a heavy night, we check the approach past the courts before the truck leaves, and we pick a route to your gate that avoids standing water rather than the shortest one.
Do the court holidays make a summer move easier?
They thin the traffic, but they do not cool the day. The Delhi High Court's Notification No. 41, issued on 4 October 2025, fixed the 2026 breaks for Delhi's district courts, which include the complex in Sector 10:
| Courts | Summer vacation 2026 | Winter vacation 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| District courts, except Judicial Magistrates of First Class | 15 to 30 June | 26 to 31 December |
| Courts of Judicial Magistrates of First Class | 15 to 24 June | 26 to 31 December |
In 2026, the late-June heat wave on the 28th and 29th fell inside that break. A family that chose those days for the quieter roads near the complex would also have faced the hottest days of the month, so the trade-off is real: fewer litigants' cars, more heat. In a vacation week we still start loading early and plan shade breaks for the crew.
The winter break, 26 to 31 December, is the other quiet stretch near the courts. It falls inside Delhi's winter truck curb, covered below, so it suits a move only if the truck's papers are in order. On ordinary working days, and on the odd Saturday the courts sit, our Sector 10 rules guide explains how the calendar can change.
Where do people crowd when it rains in Sector 10?
At the station and the market, which is exactly where a truck should not stop.
The metro station. The Dwarka Sector 10 station, signed as PNB Dwarka Sector 10 for sponsorship, handled an average of 7,894 passengers a day in January 2015, according to Wikipedia. That was more than the 5,395 recorded at Sector 12, which Wikipedia calls Dwarka's busiest. The figures are old, but they show how much foot traffic gathers here. In a shower, commuters wait under any cover near the stairs, autos queue, and the court complex next door adds its own visitors. We keep loading stops well away from that stretch.
The market. OpenStreetMap, with data of 25 October 2026, places the Sector 10 market about 0.6 km north of the sector's centre, while the station and the court complex both sit about 0.4 km to the south. DDA's own land list for the Dwarka zone, generated on 15 June 2026, shows Sector 10 commercial plots that include two local shopping centres and a commercial community centre. The district centre often linked with this part of Dwarka appears in that list as District Centre-5, Sector 11, and OpenStreetMap still labels a site at the Sector 10 and 11 edge a "proposed district centre". We read that as a site not yet built (check on your survey visit). Either way, the market roads fill with parked cars and shoppers when it rains, and a truck there blocks everyone.
How does the heat change a Sector 10 moving day?
It changes the pace more than the plan. IMD's May report records warm nights on 21 and 25 May 2026, when the temperature at Safdarjung did not drop below 32.4 °C on the 25th. On a run of days like that, a 6 am start helps with traffic and the courts, not with the heat.
Sector 10 is mostly group housing on numbered plots, plus one DDA pocket of SFS flats. Where a block has a lift, the lift is the bottleneck: if power fails in a heat-wave week, every carton goes down the stairs. Ask the society office whether its backup supply runs the lift or only the common lights. In a walk-up block, we bring extra hands, pack lighter cartons and rotate the crew so no one carries for long without a break.
Water deserves the same planning. Dwarka City reported on 1 July 2025 that Sector 10 was among the sectors with weak pressure and irregular supply that summer. Fill containers the evening before, for cleaning the empty flat and for drinking.
Use this list the evening before a summer or monsoon move:
- To do: Read IMD's Delhi forecast for heat-wave, thunderstorm or heavy-rain warnings
- To do: Ask the society whether the lift runs on backup power
- To do: Check whether the courts are sitting or on vacation that day
- To do: Store water for cleaning and for the crew
- To do: Keep documents, medicines and laptops in your own car
- To do: Agree a reserve date with us if any warning is orange or red
If your new home is not ready because of a leak or late repairs, our storage service can hold your goods for a short while.
What changes for a Sector 10 move after October?
The air and the truck rules take over from the weather. CAQM put Stage I of GRAP into force across the NCR on 21 October 2026, with Delhi's AQI at 244, according to Akashvani. A search on 26 October turned up no move to a stricter stage, though a stage can change within days (check for your date).
| Rule | What it means for the truck | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| BS-IV allowance ends | No entry to Delhi from 1 November for commercial goods vehicles at BS-IV or below; BS-VI, CNG and electric trucks still allowed | An advisory from Gurugram traffic police, as reported by Construction World, 23 October 2026 |
| Winter entry curb | For the winter months, 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, a commercial vehicle from another state gets in only if it is BS-VI, CNG-powered or electric | Report in The Hindu, 28 September 2026 |
| No Entry Permission | Any truck moving through Delhi in the no-entry hours must carry one | Delhi Traffic Police FAQ, checked on 26 October 2026 |
| GRAP | Stage I has applied NCR-wide since 21 October 2026; a stricter stage brings more curbs, so look up the stage for your date | Akashvani report, 21 October 2026 |

Does the season change the price?
No. We add no monsoon or summer charge. The owner's indicative October 2026 bands for a Gurgaon-to-Delhi move depend on home size alone. A one-bedroom home costs from Rs 7,000 up to Rs 8,000; two bedrooms, from Rs 10,000 up to Rs 13,500; three, from Rs 14,000 up to Rs 16,500. Our Delhi packers and movers page lists them beside the other destinations. For a shift that stays inside Delhi, from Sector 10 to Uttam Nagar for example, we quote after a survey.
Weather can still stretch the day: a storm halts loading, a lift loses power, or a flooded road forces a detour. Ask that the quote explain how it treats delays of that kind.
Key takeaway
In Dwarka Sector 10, plan by the day, not the month: 2026's heat came in short runs in May and late June, and Palam's wettest reported days came in early September. Check the court complex road after heavy rain, keep the truck away from the station and market fronts, use the June and December court breaks with care, and from 1 November confirm the truck is BS-VI, CNG or electric.
Once a date looks likely, write to us with the pickup and delivery addresses, the floors, the lift situation in each building, and whether a reserve date should go into the quote.
This is general information drawn from the IMD reports, court notices, news reports and maps listed under Sources. Weather, court calendars and traffic rules change, so confirm the position for your own date.
