No dated report we could find names a road inside Sector 68 as flooded; the water on record is next door and on the roads a truck uses to get in, with Sector 69's roads under water on 16 June 2026 and Sohna Road waterlogged in July and again in September 2026. Summer is the other risk: the city touched 44.6 °C in May 2026, and the district's heat alert that month advised staying inside between 11 am and 4 pm.
So a Sector 68 move is easiest from October to March, needs an early start in May and June, and needs a spare day from mid-June to September. Below are the dated reports behind that advice, the drain and road works still open, and what each changes on the day. Our Sector 68 packers and movers page explains which roads we weigh up for the lorry.
Which dated reports touch Sector 68 and its roads?
We kept reports that carry a date and name Sector 68, a building in it, its drains, or a road or junction a truck must cross to reach it. Twelve qualified, from December 2023 to September 2026:
| Date | Publisher | What it reported | What it means for a move |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 Dec 2023 | The Tribune | GMDA invites bids for 17.63 km of drains in Sectors 68–75, 22 months' work | The fix for local run-off begins |
| 6 Apr 2024 | The Tribune | Sector 66/67 dividing road on a list of 30+ spots prone to waterlogging | One approach from the north can flood |
| 29 Jul 2024 | Indian Infrastructure | The Sectors 68–75 drain project approved by a state works committee | Water to go to the SPR drain, then Badshahpur drain |
| 29 Jul 2025 | The Tribune | Box drains "in full swing", due August 2026 | No completion report since |
| 19 May 2026 | Amar Ujala | City maximum of 44.6 °C, a season high | Carrying needs early hours |
| 22 May 2026 | Amar Ujala | Orange heat alert extended to 26 May; keep indoors between 11 am and 4 pm | The official no-go hours |
| 16 Jun 2026 | Amar Ujala | Three Sector 69 spots under water, including the Tulip Chowk signal and SPR Road | Water before July, one sector away |
| 7 Jul 2026 | The Tribune | Badshahpur had only 15 mm, yet Sohna Road and Vatika Chowk jammed | Dry sky, blocked road |
| 5 Aug 2026 | The Tribune | 48-hour outage hit AIRIA Mall and other Sohna Road buildings | Lifts can stop after a fault |
| 18 Aug 2026 | Construction World | Sector 68–69 link road and its drains approved, due within a year | Works likely during the 2027 monsoon |
| 5 Sep 2026 | NewKerala | Heavy waterlogging on Sohna Road after rain | Late-season flooding on the main road |
| 29 Sep 2026 | ThePrint (PTI) | Sector 72 boosting station to take over water supply to Sectors 58–80 | Summer water may improve; check |
None of these is a forecast. Together they show where and when trouble has come before.
Does Sector 68 itself flood?
Not on any dated record we found, and we looked in English and Hindi. What the record does show is a sector whose drains were still being built when the last report appeared. GMDA put the work out to tender in December 2023: The Tribune's report described drains of various sizes across Sectors 68 to 75, costed at Rs 62.78 crore and expected to take 22 months. The state's works committee approved the project the next July, Indian Infrastructure noted, at an estimated Rs 510 million, with the water to run into the master drain being built along the SPR and from there into the Leg III, or Badshahpur, drain.
A year later, on 29 July 2025, The Tribune said the RCC box drains were being laid in full swing, now at Rs 51 crore, to finish by August 2026, with a pumping station planned to stop the main drain overflowing in the rains. That deadline has passed. We found no report confirming the network is complete, so plan a monsoon move as if the old drainage is still what you have.
The roads around the sector are a different matter. Amar Ujala's 16 June 2026 video showed heavy water at three Sector 69 spots, the Tulip Chowk signal, SPR Road and Darbaripur Road, weeks before the city's first heavy monsoon rain. Our Sector 69 season guide covers that report in detail; for Sector 68 the lesson is that a flooded junction next door can still stop your truck.
Why can Sohna Road jam when Badshahpur stays dry?
Because the road carries the whole city's traffic, not just the local rain. On 7 July 2026, The Tribune's tehsil figures put Badshahpur at 15 mm, the lowest in the district, while Gurugram's highest reading was 82 mm. Sohna Road and Vatika Chowk were still on the paper's list of places with long jams from waterlogging. Two months later, on 5 September 2026, NewKerala reported heavy waterlogging on Sohna Road again, so the risk runs to the end of the season.
The northern approach has its own weak point. When civic agencies drew up their monsoon plan in April 2024, the Sector 66/67 dividing road was on their list of vulnerable spots, alongside places such as Sheetla Mata Road and Narsinghpur. If that road and Sohna Road are both slow, the SPR is the remaining way in, and it floods too; our Sector 70 season guide lists its dated reports.
Our area page sets out the practice: in the rains we judge the date by the state of these roads, not just by whether it is raining over Sector 68, and our supervisor looks over the route to your gate a short while before moving day.
What do the new road works mean for a move in the next year?
Expect digging on the Sector 68–69 boundary. On 18 August 2026 a state works committee chaired by the chief minister approved about Rs 26.83 crore to finish the road dividing the two sectors, Construction World reported. Work began in 2019 and stalled over land; a 1.1-km stretch built in 2022 left the link unfinished. The new work adds nearly 2 km of service roads, stormwater drains, footpaths and cycle tracks, and is due within a year.
A one-year job approved in August runs straight through the 2027 monsoon. For a move on that side of the sector:
- Ask which gate trucks use while the work goes on, and whether it changes from week to week.
- Ask about trenches and loose earth near the gate after rain; a half-built service lane can turn to mud.
- Allow for a smaller vehicle. If the last stretch is too tight or soft for a lorry, our area page explains that goods can be shuttled in a smaller vehicle from the main truck waiting on a wider road.
Once the road and its drains open, the picture should improve. Until a dated report says so, plan around the works.
Can the power, and the lifts, fail in the wet months?
It has happened on Sohna Road, in the middle of the monsoon. On 5 August 2026 The Tribune reported that more than eight establishments on the road, including AIRIA Mall, had been without mains power for over 48 hours, running on generators, with several residential societies also cut off. The supply came through an underground network fed from a power station opposite M3M Urbana in Sector 67, and a repair worker suspected the lines had been snapped during sewer cleaning. Reach Group's May 2026 announcement places AIRIA Mall in Sector 68, on NH-248A. Our Sector 67 rules guide covers what that outage meant for the societies there.
For your move, the question is simple: if the mains supply goes, which lifts keep running? Ask the estate office before you book:
- To do: Is the service lift on backup power, or only the passenger lifts?
- To do: For how many hours can the backup run a lift continuously?
- To do: If power fails mid-move, will the office extend or rebook the slot?
What does the summer heat change?
Hot enough to change the hours. On 19 May 2026 the city's maximum touched 44.6 °C, according to Amar Ujala, with the night falling only to 27 °C, the hottest day of the season to that point. On 22 May the paper said the weather office had extended an orange heat alert to 26 May, with that day at 41.4 °C, and advised people not to go out between 11 am and 4 pm. Both are city-wide figures; we found no reading for Sector 68 alone.
The area page describes what we do for May and June moves: start at dawn, rest the crew between lift runs, and load sensitive electronics last. On your side:
- To do: Book the earliest lift slot both societies allow.
- To do: Move medicines, cosmetics, candles and plants in your car, not the truck.
- To do: Switch off and defrost the fridge a night ahead, so no water leaks in the truck.
- To do: Keep drinking water for everyone out of the sealed cartons.
Water at the new flat is worth a question too. On 29 September 2026 PTI, via ThePrint, reported that a new boosting station in Sector 72 was due to start the following month and take over supply to Sectors 58 to 80, at 95 MLD. Check whether it is running, and ask your society whether it relied on tankers last summer, before you plan to clean the flat on moving day.
Which months suit a Sector 68 move?
October to March, going by the dated record:
| Period | Dated record | Planning |
|---|---|---|
| October to March | Nothing dated found for rain or heat | Usual planning; ask about the Sector 68–69 road works |
| April to early June | Season high of 44.6 °C (19 May 2026); orange alert until 26 May | Dawn start, heat-sensitive items in your car |
| Mid-June | Sector 69 roads under water, 16 June 2026 | Treat as monsoon: spare day, check the junctions |
| July to September | Sohna Road waterlogged 7 July and 5 September 2026; 48-hour outage on 5 August | Morning slot, lift backup confirmed, fallback date |
If the date slips and your new home is not ready, the goods can wait in our warehouse. For the papers and gate rules in the sector, read our Sector 68 rules guide, and for the October 2026 price ranges, our Gurgaon charges guide.
Key takeaway
Sector 68's own lanes have no dated flood report, but its drains were unfinished at the last check, the next sector and Sohna Road have flooded, and a road project will dig up the Sector 68–69 boundary for a year. Choose October to March if you can; otherwise start early, confirm the lift backup and keep a spare day.
This guide rests only on the dated reports listed as sources and is general information. Drains, roads and power lines change; in the week before the move, check the IMD forecast for Gurugram and any traffic police advisory.
