For a move in Maruti Kunj, the monsoon problem is less likely to be deep water than mud: no news report we found names the colony as flooded, but residents say its lanes turn soft and slippery after even a short shower. The summer problem is a stair-and-terrace house move in heat like the city's 44.6 °C high of 19 May 2026, with afternoon power cuts that residents also report.
This guide covers only weather. Lane widths, truck size and costs are in our Maruti Kunj shifting guide, and colony rules are in the Maruti Kunj rules guide. For the long road north to the city, read our Sohna Road monsoon guide, which we do not repeat here.
Has any report named Maruti Kunj as waterlogged?
No. We searched English and Hindi news up to October 2026 for Maruti Kunj and Bhondsi, and found no rain report that names either. That is worth saying plainly, because it means everything below comes from residents, rain gauges on either side, and the colony's known drainage gap.
What residents say is consistent. On NoBroker's locality page, read in October 2026, "waterlogging in the monsoon" is listed among the drawbacks, and one resident writes that the lack of drainage is the biggest issue, with roads becoming muddy swamps after a small shower. Others describe approach roads that are still dirt tracks. These are personal accounts, not surveys, but they match what we would expect in a cluster of plotted colonies where many lanes are unpaved.
The drainage gap is on the record too. In February 2026, Prime TV India reported the foundation stone for a 6 MLD sewage plant in Bhondsi village, meant to end the wastewater problem of Maruti Kunj's 32 colonies. The report gave no completion date. Until it runs, we assume the 2027 monsoon will look like 2026.
Why read two rain gauges for one colony?
Because Maruti Kunj sits on Sohna Road between the Badshahpur and Sohna gauges, and in August 2026 those two gave opposite pictures three times in three weeks.
| Period | Sohna | Badshahpur | Reported by |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 am 3 Aug to 8 am 4 Aug 2026 | 23 mm, the district's highest | 2 mm, the lowest | The Public World |
| Day ending 8 am, 6 Aug 2026 | 110 mm, the highest | 13 mm | The Tribune |
| 8 am to 5 pm, 24 Aug 2026 | 16 mm | 65 mm | Outlook |
On the 6 August reading, The Tribune also reported vehicles stuck for nearly six hours the previous night and a police request that offices let staff work from home. On 24 August the heavy fall had moved north, and the district asked offices and schools to work from home the next day. That afternoon, DD India reported school buses and ambulances caught in standing water on Sohna Road.
For a mover, the lesson is simple. A dry morning in Bhondsi says little about the far end if you are heading to a society near Badshahpur or into the city, and a wet forecast for "Gurugram" may miss the colony entirely. We check the tehsil figures and live traffic for both ends before the truck leaves. We did not find which gauge the district counts Maruti Kunj under, so read both.
What does rain do to a plotted-house move here?
It slows the carry between door and truck. In a tower society the truck stands on a paved bay; in Maruti Kunj it stands in a lane, and the crew walks every load across whatever that lane has become. Sapient Realty's January 2026 guide says most homes are independent houses or builder floors, so most moves here meet this.
How we adjust on a wet day:
- Mud before water. A loaded trolley sinks in soft ground, so cartons go by hand and heavy pieces on shoulders. Boards across the worst patch near the gate help, if you have them.
- Weight on the truck. A full truck on an unpaved lane after rain can bog down. If the lane is soft, we load lighter and shuttle to firm road rather than risk getting stuck.
- Covers at the gate. Mattresses, sofas and fabric chairs are wrapped in plastic indoors, before they reach the lane, because mud splashes as much as rain soaks.
- Ground floor first. Store rooms and garages at lane level take water first in a house; pack those on a dry day ahead of the move.
- Daylight. Residents say inner-lane streetlights fail and it is dark after 7 pm. Wet, uneven ground in the dark is where things get dropped, so we finish loading well before dusk.
If the lane is under water on the morning, we do not drive a loaded truck through it. We wait for it to drain, or hold the goods in storage and deliver on the next clear slot.
Is the road north any safer in the rain?
Not always, and it is a long road. The Tribune counted six cave-ins on the Sohna highway between December 2023 and May 2026, blamed on a damaged master sewer underneath. A fix is planned: Construction World reported on 9 October 2026 that relining of the sewer from Rajiv Chowk to Sheeshpal Vihar was due to begin by the end of the month and take about three months. Whether it has started, and which lanes it closes, is something to check in the week of your move (October 2026).
From Maruti Kunj, that means a winter move north may meet barricades, and a monsoon move may meet both water and repairs. Our Sohna Road guide covers the junctions in detail.
How hot does it get, and what does heat change in a house move?
Every 2026 temperature we found is a city-wide figure; no reading names Bhondsi. Amar Ujala recorded 44.6 °C on 19 May 2026, with a low of 27 °C, the season's hottest day to that point. Three days later the paper reported that the orange heat alert had been extended to 26 May, and advised people not to step outdoors from 11 am until about 4 pm.
A Maruti Kunj house adds three things a tower flat does not:
- The terrace. A rooftop store gathers heat all day. Clear it first, at first light, and keep candles, plastics, medicines and anything with a battery out of it once packed.
- The stairs. On a builder floor there is no lift, so every piece goes down by hand. The Haryana Labour Department's May 2026 advice, summarised by SCC Online, asks employers to put the hardest work in the coolest hours and provide water and rest areas. On moving day that means the almirahs and beds come down first.
- Power. A NoBroker resident names frequent afternoon power cuts as the one real drawback. When the fan stops, packing slows; so we pack the house the day before where possible, and load the next morning.
Dust is the dry-season cousin of mud. Residents describe the main stretch as heavily dusty from dumpers, so we stretch-wrap upholstery and electronics before they leave the room, not at the truck.
Which months carry the least risk?
| Months | What we found | How to plan |
|---|---|---|
| October to March | No dated weather trouble; sewer relining on Sohna Road due from late October 2026 | Check lane closures on the drive north |
| April to mid-June | City high of 44.6 °C, 19 May 2026; heat alert to 26 May; residents report afternoon power cuts | Sunrise start; terrace and upper floor first; pack the day before |
| Late June to September | Heavy, uneven falls at Sohna and Badshahpur in August 2026; residents report muddy lanes; no sewage plant yet | Spare day; lighter loads on soft lanes; plastic on fabric; finish before dusk |
What goes on a Maruti Kunj weather checklist?
- To do: Give us the colony name, plot number and a landmark, plus a photo of your lane taken after rain if you have one.
- To do: From July to September, keep a reserve date and tell the landlord it may be used.
- To do: On the evening before, look at the Sohna and Badshahpur rainfall figures, not just the city forecast.
- To do: Empty the ground-floor store and garage on a dry day before packing starts.
- To do: In May and June, agree a start near sunrise and clear the terrace first.
- To do: Charge the inverter and phones the night before, in case of an afternoon cut.
- To do: Keep documents, medicines and laptops with you in sealed bags.
- To do: If rain or a late handover holds up delivery, ask about storage before the day.
When comparing quotes, ask any firm how it would handle a soft lane or a rained-off afternoon; our page on packers and movers in Maruti Kunj explains how we plan the vehicle for each lane.
Does the season change what a Maruti Kunj move costs?
It does not. The owner's indicative bands carry an October 2026 date and no seasonal surcharge.
| Home | What pushes a Maruti Kunj quote up the band | Within Gurgaon (Rs) | To Delhi (Rs) |
|---|---|---|---|
| One bedroom | A walk-up floor and a long carry from a soft lane | 4,500–7,000 | 7,000–8,000 |
| Two bedrooms | A terrace store or garage to clear | 8,000–12,500 | 10,000–13,500 |
| Three bedrooms | Heavy almirahs on narrow stairs; a shuttle vehicle | 12,000–15,000 | 14,000–16,500 |
A whole house with a terrace and garage is priced once we have seen it. What a wet day can add is a wait for the lane to drain or a few days of storage, and those are billed separately. The full list is on our Gurgaon packers and movers page.
Key takeaway
No report names Maruti Kunj as flooded, but residents describe muddy lanes after light rain and the colony's sewage plant has no finish date. Read both the Sohna and Badshahpur gauges, keep a spare day from July to September, and in May and June start at sunrise with the terrace and stairs.
For what our crew does on the day, see household shifting. Once a date is pencilled in, tell us the colony, the plot and the floors.
This guide is general information, not a forecast. It rests on news reports and resident accounts read in October 2026. The sewage plant, the Sohna Road repairs and the rains themselves may all look different next year, so look at the IMD district warning, any traffic advisory and take a look at your lane yourself shortly before moving day.
