A Sector 70 move is hardest in July and August, when the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) outside the sector and the Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road routes into it have flooded in dated reports from 2024, 2025 and 2026. Summer is a smaller risk: the one dated reading we found puts Sohna Road at 43.8 °C on 19 May 2026, which calls for early starts rather than a new date.
We kept to reports that carry a date and name Sector 70 or one of those three roads. None named Sector 70 itself, so everything below is about the roads a truck must use to reach a tower gate in the sector, and what each report means on a moving day.
Which dated reports cover the roads around Sector 70?
Eight, from July 2024 to July 2026. The SPR matters most, because Sector 70 has frontage on it. In The Tribune's description, the corridor starts at the Faridabad road by Sector 58, meets Sohna Road at Badshahpur Chowk, and ends on NH-48 by Sector 74-A. A truck coming from central Gurgaon reaches Sector 70 along one of these roads.
| Date | Publisher | What was reported for Sector 70's roads |
|---|---|---|
| 25 July 2024 | The Tribune | SPR stretches under water after a morning downpour, with the jams reaching Sohna Road and both Golf Course roads |
| 26 July 2024 | The Tribune | The SPR, Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road among the stretches waterlogged after about two hours of heavy rain |
| 5 September 2024 | The Tribune | Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road inundated on a day the city logged 62 mm |
| 29 July 2025 | The Tribune | GMDA to lay about 17.63 km of box drains in Sectors 68 to 75A, Sector 70 included, by August 2026 |
| 27 August 2025 | The Tribune | SPR–Wazirabad, Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension on the list of about 100 spots that flood each year |
| 29 April 2026 | The Tribune | SPR run-off to be split: Ghata to Vatika Chowk into the Badshahpur (Kost) nallah, Vatika Chowk to NH-48 into the Leg 4 drain |
| 19 May 2026 | NewsX | Sohna Road at 43.8 °C under an IMD yellow alert for extreme heat |
| 7 July 2026 | The Tribune | Water or jams on SPR Road, Sohna Road, Vatika Chowk and Golf Course Extension Road in the season's first heavy rain |
One caution on the August 2025 list: the SPR entry there is "SPR–Wazirabad", and Wazirabad lies towards the Faridabad-road end of the corridor, not beside Sector 70. We include it because it shows the same road recurring on the city's flood list, not because it proves water at your gate.
What happened on the SPR in the July 2024 and July 2026 rains?
Both times, the road became slow at the hour a moving truck would normally be on it. On 25 July 2024, the Tribune report on the SPR said a morning downpour submerged stretches of the corridor during office hours. The next day's report on the "Jalgram" rain put the SPR, Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road on its waterlogging list, and quoted a traffic in-charge who blamed overflowing sewage and uncleaned drains.
The 7 July 2026 rain showed a second risk: other roads closing and pushing their traffic onto the SPR. That afternoon, The Tribune reported that part of NH-48 near Narsinghpur caved in and two lanes shut, and the police advice was to quit the highway and switch to SPR Road. Rain fell for about two hours from 2 pm. The heaviest reading in the district was 82 mm, while Badshahpur logged only 15 mm. So the SPR can clog on a day when it barely rains in the sector, simply because the highway traffic has nowhere else to go.
Are the new drains in Sectors 68 to 75 finished?
No report we have found says so. In July 2025, The Tribune wrote that GMDA would lay about 17.63 km of RCC box drains across Sectors 68, 69, 70, 70A and 71 to 75A, at a cost of Rs 51 crore, with water carried to a master drain and on to the Leg III Badshahpur drain. August 2026 was the target. In April 2026 the paper reported a plan for the SPR itself: water from Ghata to Vatika Chowk would go to the Badshahpur (Kost) nallah, and water from Vatika Chowk to NH-48, the stretch that passes Sector 70, would feed the Leg 4 drain.
Then came the July 2026 rain, with the SPR again on the list. Until a dated report confirms the sector drains are working, we treat July to September as flood months for any Sector 70 move. Drain work also leaves trenches and barricades on sector roads; tell us if your gate has one, so we know where the truck can stop.
How hot does Sohna Road get in summer?
Warm enough that we move the working hours. NewsX reported 43.8 °C on Sohna Road on 19 May 2026, under an IMD yellow alert, and passed on the advice to avoid going out between noon and 4 pm. We found no dated heat report naming Sector 70 or the SPR, so that reading is the closest local figure.
Heat affects a move in three ways. Crews tire faster on long carries from a tower's service lift to the truck. A parked cargo box gets far hotter than the air outside it, which is hard on candles, medicines, cosmetics, vinyl records and some electronics. And a power cut in a tall tower can stop the lift with a sofa halfway up. In May and June we plan for all three:
- Start loading at first light. Aim to have the heavy pieces on the truck before late morning.
- Pause in the noon-to-4 pm window. If the job cannot finish by noon, we break and resume later rather than carry through the worst hours.
- Keep the heat-sensitive box with you. Medicines, wax items, plants and pets travel in your car.
- Load screens last. Televisions and computers spend the least time in the cargo box and come off first.
- Ask about lift backup. A power cut can halt a service lift mid-trip, so confirm with the estate team that it is on generator supply.
What changes in our plan for a rainy-season move?
Around the road, more than the sector. The reports above point to slow traffic, standing water and diverted highway traffic, so the plan covers each:
- A morning slot. The July 2026 rain began around 2 pm. A truck that loads early is usually out of the sector before afternoon storms build.
- A free day after the move. If the SPR or Sohna Road is blocked, unloading moves to the next morning instead of finishing in the dark.
- The approach chosen on the day. A truck can reach Sector 70 from the Vatika Chowk side or from the NH-48 end. We check which is moving before the truck leaves, and recheck if NH-48 has trouble.
- Plastic before the doorway. Mattresses, sofas and cartons are wrapped inside the flat, and the truck's load is covered.
- No driving into unknown water. If the approach to your gate is flooded, the truck waits for the level to fall.
- A storage fall-back. If the day collapses, the packed load can go to our warehouse and come to Sector 70 once the roads clear.
Which months are safest for a Sector 70 move?
October to March. None of the dated flood reports we found falls in those months, and the one heat reading is from May. Here is how the year looks from the reports:
| Period | Dated reports for Sector 70's roads | Our planning |
|---|---|---|
| October to March | No dated flood or heat report for the SPR, Sohna Road or Golf Course Extension Road | Normal planning; check for drain-work barricades near the gate |
| April to June | Sohna Road at 43.8 °C on 19 May 2026 | Load at first light, break between noon and 4 pm, keep medicines and wax items with you |
| July to early September | Flooding reported in July and September 2024, a repeat-spot listing in August 2025, and the 7 July 2026 rain | Morning slot, a free day after, wrapped furniture, warehouse if needed |
What should you check before a rainy-season or summer move?
- To do: Ask the facility office where the truck can stand if the usual loading point floods.
- To do: Confirm the service-lift booking and whether the lift has power backup.
- To do: Look at the IMD district forecast two days out and again on the morning.
- To do: Keep the day after the move free between July and September.
- To do: Pack a bag of documents, medicines, chargers and water that stays with you.
- To do: In May and June, agree a start time early enough to load before noon.
- To do: Decide with us before the day whether a rained-off move gets a new date or goes into storage.
Key takeaway
Sector 70's moving risk sits on the roads outside it. The SPR, Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road all appear in dated flood reports, and the promised sector drains have no confirmed finish date. Move between October and March if you can; otherwise start early and keep a spare day.
For the service itself, including first move-ins to newly handed-over towers, see our Sector 70 packers and movers page. If you are coming from the other side of Badshahpur Chowk, our Sohna Road moving guide covers the societies along that road, and the Sector 61 season guide looks at Golf Course Extension Road in more detail. Price ranges for local and intercity moves are in our Gurgaon packers and movers charges guide; for what the crew does on the day, see household shifting.
This is general information drawn from the dated reports listed in the sources. Weather, drains and traffic plans change each year; look at the IMD district forecast and any Gurugram traffic police notice in the days before you move.
