Office Shifting in Cyber City: Planning a Weekend Move

Yes, most Cyber City offices can move over one weekend, provided the packing is done on weekday evenings and Saturday is kept for loading inside the slot your building's facility desk gives you. The weekend is shorter than it looks, though: building hours, truck curbs and our Monday-to-Saturday crews leave a few usable hours, and in winter the new floor's fit-out and the data on your machines need sorting before the date.

Can a Cyber City office really move in one weekend?

Usually, and Cyber City suits it better than most of Gurugram, because the distance is so often short. A move to the next tower, or across NH-48 to Udyog Vihar, spends far more time in lifts, corridors and IT shutdown than on the road. The weekend works when the bulky, low-risk work is done before it:

• Weekday evenings: files, stationery, kitchen and spare stock go into numbered cartons, desk by desk, while staff still work in the day.
• Friday evening: your IT team checks the backups and shuts systems down; machines, screens and phones are wrapped and coded to their new desks.
• Saturday: loading at the old tower, the drive, unloading at the new one.
• Sunday: your IT team reconnects and tests, without movers on site.

A floor that will not fit inside one Saturday's slots is better moved in two halves, team by team, on two weekends, with the second team working from the old floor in between. That costs less stress than trying to squeeze a whole floor into one long night.

Which hours does a Cyber City Saturday actually give you?

Three clocks run at once, and the usable part of the day is where they overlap.

The building's. Normal building hours are set by your lease. Under the DLF leases explained in our rules post, they end at 2 pm on a Saturday, and lifts after that need written approval and an extra-hours charge. Check your own lease's business-hours clause before you plan an afternoon.

The road's. According to a traffic police note about Digi Pass permits, stored as a PDF on GMDA's server, commercial vehicles are barred from designated roads during a two-hour morning peak that ends at 10 am and a four-hour evening peak that starts at 5 pm. The note is undated and silent on weekends, so confirm it with the traffic police.

Ours. Our crews work Monday to Saturday until 9 pm, and we do not work on Sundays.

A move to another Cyber City tower needs a goods slot from both facility desks. Ask for them together, and put the same building number and floor on both requests, because the campus has separate buildings with near-identical numbers.

Is the new floor ready, and can winter air stop the fit-out?

Check this first if your move falls between November and January. The air-quality commission's Graded Response Action Plan, or GRAP, restricts dust-raising work across the NCR when its stricter stages are in force. When Stage III was invoked on 16 December 2024, TeamLease RegTech's summary of the order listed these among the restricted activities:

The plan has changed since. GKToday reported that a revised version of the plan won the commission's approval on 28 September 2026, now with ten actions in Stage III, so read the current order before relying on the table above.

The practical lesson holds either way. Paint, flooring and other wet trades on the new floor should be finished before the air turns, or the Saturday you booked may arrive with a floor that cannot take furniture. Ask your fit-out contractor for a finish date in writing, and book the move a week after it. If the old lease ends before the new floor is ready, the furniture and archive boxes can wait in our storage in between.

What about the data on the laptops and servers?

That stays your company's responsibility, and the law on it has tightened. The Press Information Bureau says the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 were notified on 14 November 2025 with an eighteen-month period for phased compliance. Under the Act, an organisation that decides how personal data is used, a data fiduciary, must keep reasonable security safeguards, and failing to do so can attract a penalty of up to Rs 250 crore, the highest in the Act. The rules also require affected people to be told without delay if a personal data breach occurs. Most of the new duties arrive as the phase-in ends, so ask your advisers which already bind you.

For a move, that turns a few IT habits into duties worth writing down:

• To do: List every laptop, desktop, drive and server by serial number before Friday evening
• To do: Decide which machines are encrypted, which are wiped, and which old drives are destroyed rather than moved
• To do: Back up first, and keep the backup at a different place from the machines on the day
• To do: Keep servers, switches and their cables together as one sealed lot, and record who opens it
• To do: Count machines out of the old floor and into the new one, against the list

Which weekends should a Cyber City office avoid?

One change is coming to the roads around the campus. Haryana has cleared a Rs 1,662-crore civil works tender for the second phase of the Gurugram Metro, a 15.3 km elevated line running from Sector 9 to a terminus at DLF Cyber City, Swarajya reported on 1 October 2026, citing the Hindustan Times. The tender had not yet been floated then. Once work starts near Cyber City, check the diversions in the week of the move.

How should the three weeks before the move be laid out?

What will a weekend office move in Cyber City cost?

You will not find office moves on our price list: equal floor areas often hide very unequal loads. The quote follows a look at both floors, and in Cyber City four things move it most: the number of seats, screens and servers; how long the buildings' slots are; how far the goods lift is from the truck at each end, including any low basement ramp; and, for an SEZ unit, how the customs clearance date fits the weekend. A plan that spreads the work over weekday evenings and a Saturday generally needs a smaller crew than one that tries to do it all at once.
