Moving to South City 2 means settling into a Unitech plotted colony of lettered blocks off Sohna Road, where your block letter matters more than your sector number. In the first week most families need four places: Satya School in E Block or DPS International in W Block, Park Hospital in Q Block, the D-Block Shopping Plaza, and Subhash Chowk, the junction that links the colony to the rest of Gurgaon.
This guide covers what a new family or renter needs to find in those first days: the layout, the roads, the planned metro, schools, hospitals, shops and the paperwork. Each fact comes from a named source listed with this article.
Where is South City 2, and what are its edges?
It sits between Sohna Road and Nirvana Country. Unitech's township page puts the colony in Sectors 49 and 50, with Golf Course Extension Road and Vikas Marg on its two other sides and the Sohna-Gurgaon highway directly to the west. Sector 47 is added in a public notice of 1 January 2026 issued by the board the government appointed to run Unitech, which treats South City 2 Phase 1 and its neighbour Nirvana Country as a pair of plotted colonies spread over Sectors 47, 49 and 50.
In daily life the sector number shifts with the block. Park Hospital's address reads Q Block, Sector 47; E Block and the D-Block plaza are written as Sector 49; DPS International in W Block uses Sector 50. Postcodes vary too: CBSE lists E Block under 122018, while DPS International prints 122001 on its own contact page. Check the exact postcode on your rent agreement or sale deed before you change your address with a bank or school.
Nirvana Country next door is a separate colony with its own blocks and association, though the two were built together. If your new home is there, our Nirvana Country page covers it.
Which blocks will you hear about first?
Addresses run by block letter and plot number, and a few blocks double as landmarks. These are the ones a newcomer usually needs:
| Block | What is there | Sector on the address | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| D Block | D-Block Shopping Plaza; shops D-201, D-211 and D-303 were offered for e-auction | 49 | Unitech board notice, January 2026 |
| E Block | Satya School; independent floors, some sold floor by floor | 49 | CBSE; Unitech board notice |
| F Block | The RWA's community hall; our South City II branch, Shop No. 815 | 49 | The Tribune, February 2025; Maxx Relocation |
| Q Block | Park Hospital, on the Sohna Road side | 47 | District Gurugram website |
| W Block | DPS International, plot HS-01 | 50 | DPS International |
Most homes are floors and houses on plots, though Unitech's township page also lists apartments and villas. Floors in one building often have different owners, so as a renter you may share a staircase, a gate and a parking frontage with a family you have not met. On the Sohna Road side of Sector 49 there are tower societies too; Orchid Petals, for example, is listed by property portals such as NoBroker in Sector 49, reached from Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road.
Which roads will you drive every day?
Three roads frame most trips. Sohna Road runs along the west side and carries you north to Subhash Chowk and on to Rajiv Chowk and NH-48. Golf Course Extension Road is the other way out, and the one nearest the Sector 50 blocks such as W Block. Vikas Marg borders the colony on the other side, according to Unitech.
Subhash Chowk is the junction to learn early, especially if your children ride a school bus. On 13 September 2024, after 46 mm of afternoon rain, The Tribune reported people wading through knee-deep water there and on Sohna Road. On 25 August 2026 about 15 vehicles, nine of them school buses, were stuck in water at Subhash Chowk, and more than 300 children waited inside the buses for nearly two hours, PTI reported. On a heavy-rain day, ask the school whether the bus will run, or plan to collect the children yourself.
Is there a metro, or will you drive?
You will drive for now. The colony has no station today, and the nearest working stop is Millennium City Centre in Sector 29, at the end of the Yellow Line.
That is set to change. The new Gurugram Metro line, as listed on Wikipedia, starts at Millennium City Centre and, after Sector 45 and Cyber Park, has stops at Sector 47, Subhash Chowk and Sector 48, then turns towards Hero Honda Chowk and on to Cyber City. Civil work began in November 2025, the first phase is expected in 2028, and the line is being built by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, a joint company of the central and Haryana governments.
Which schools are in or near the colony?
Two schools carry a South City 2 address, and both are worth a call before admission season.
- Satya School, E Block. CBSE's affiliation record lists it as a senior secondary school, affiliation number 531508, with affiliation from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2029.
- DPS International, W Block. Its contact page gives HS-01, Block W, South City II, Sector 50, on Golf Course Extension Road, and describes the school as an IB World School offering the Middle Years, Diploma and Career-related programmes.
- Others named by Unitech. The township page also lists Lotus Valley School among the schools serving residents.
For the first week with a new school:
- To do: Carry the transfer certificate and the last report card, and ask whether a mid-year transfer needs a board-level step.
- To do: Ask which bus route covers your block letter, and where the stop is.
- To do: Find out the school's rule for rain days, given the Subhash Chowk record above.
- To do: Note the pick-up time, so a delivery truck at your gate does not block the bus.
Where are the nearest hospitals?
One is inside the colony. The Gurugram district website lists Park Hospital at Q Block, South City 2, on Sohna Road in Sector 47. For larger hospitals, Artemis gives its address as Sector 51, and Medanta The Medicity gives CH Baktawar Singh Road, Sector 38.
In the first week, save the emergency number of whichever hospital you would use, find the nearest chemist in your block market, and move any prescriptions to a doctor nearby before the old ones run out.
Where will you shop in the first week?
Close to home, at first. The D-Block Shopping Plaza on the Sector 49 side is the colony's own centre; the board's January 2026 notice offered three of its shops for e-auction. Unitech's township page adds Unitech Arcadia, with shops and offices, alongside the local shopping centre, and points to bigger shopping along Sohna Road and MG Road.
For the first night, pack one bag that travels in your car: bedding, a kettle, chargers, medicines, a torch and the children's school things. Most of the rest can wait in cartons for a day or two.
What paperwork should you finish in the first week?
A short list covers most families:
| Task | Who does it | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Tenant police verification | Landlord, with your ID | Haryana Police HarSamay portal |
| Tell the RWA you have moved in | You or the owner | Your block's RWA |
| Property ID and tax status (owners) | Owner | ULB Haryana property portal |
| New address with bank, school and employer | You | Each office, with the rent agreement or deed |
| Gas, internet and electricity in your name | You or the owner | Each provider |
On police verification, The Tribune reported in February 2020 that HarSamay had begun issuing digitally signed tenant verification certificates, so neither you nor the landlord needs to visit a police office to collect one. On the RWA, the association said in 2025 that it lends its F Block hall only after a written request is approved, according to The Tribune, so a short written note about your arrival suits the way it works. Our Sector 49 rules guide covers what the RWAs here do and do not publish.
How do we handle a move into a South City 2 floor?
We start with the block letter, the plot number and the floor, because the colony's name alone does not tell a driver which gate to use. Builder floors usually mean stairs, so we size the crew for the number of flights and take beds and wardrobes apart where the landing is tight. If the floor below belongs to another family, we keep the shared stairs clear and avoid parking across their gate.
We have a branch in the colony too: Shop No. 815, F Block. For a move inside Gurgaon, the owner's indicative bands (October 2026) put one-bedroom homes at Rs 4,500 to 7,000, two-bedroom homes at Rs 8,000 to 12,500 and three-bedroom homes at Rs 12,000 to 15,000. For a full-home plan, see household shifting.
Key takeaway
In South City 2, give everyone your block letter and plot number, not just the sector. Learn Subhash Chowk, Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road; know where Park Hospital (Q Block), Satya School (E Block) and DPS International (W Block) are; and finish police verification and an RWA note in the first week.
Our South City 2 packers and movers page explains how we work in the colony. If you are still choosing, compare it with its namesake in South City 1 vs South City 2, or read our Sohna Road guide for the societies along the corridor. Once your dates are fixed, get in touch for a quote.
Treat everything here as general information; it reflects the sources listed with this guide as of October 2026. School details, metro dates and civic rules change, so confirm with each office before you act.
