The riskiest weeks for a move in Sector 50 run from late May to early September. Sector 50 itself turns up in two dated reports we found, a May 2022 downpour and a September 2025 drain inspection, while Golf Course Extension Road on its edge was flooded or jammed in reports from every year between 2022 and 2026. For heat, no report we found names Sector 50, but the city-wide figures (48.1°C in May 2022, a heatwave school closure in 2026) apply here as much as anywhere.

Below is each dated report for the sector and its roads, what it means for a truck and a crew, and how to plan the day in each season. Where a report does not name Sector 50, we say so.

Which dated reports name Sector 50 or its roads?

Seven rain reports and two road-works reports name Sector 50, Nirvana Country or the two roads a truck uses to reach them: Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road. Unitech says its Nirvana Country township spans Sectors 50 and 51, and most of it lies in Sector 50. The sector also takes in South City II's W Block, where DPS International gives its address on Golf Course Extension Road.

Date Place named What the report said
24 May 2022 Sector 50, Golf Course Extension Road Among the worst-affected areas for waterlogging and jams after torrential morning rain
21 June 2023 Sector 50, Golf Course Extension Road Traffic police teams posted at both, among five points, during a downpour
25 July 2024 Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road Heavy congestion as areas around the Southern Peripheral Road went under water
10 July 2025 Near Golf Course Extension Road; Sohna Road Waterlogged after the city logged 133 mm by 8:30 that morning
31 July 2025 Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road "Almost submerged", with 66 mm in the city that day
2 September 2025 Sector 50, Mayfield Garden The municipal commissioner inspected drains and cleanliness after overnight rain
26 March 2026 Nirvana Country (Sector 50) Roads listed among 35 municipal projects to beat waterlogging
3 May 2026 Golf Course Extension Road Eight-lane rebuild with drains on both sides, ground work about to start
6 September 2026 Golf Course Extension Road, Sohna Road Among the worst-hit routes after 36 mm fell in one hour

These are the reports we could find with both a date and a named place. Blocks and lanes inside the sector that no reporter named may have flooded as well, so treat the table as a floor, not a full record.

How often has Sector 50 itself been reported under water?

Twice by name, and once more through a police deployment. On 24 May 2022, a pre-monsoon downpour caused what The Tribune called massive waterlogging and a power failure, and it put Sector 50 on its list of worst-affected areas along with Golf Course Extension Road, Vatika Chowk and Sector 52. The deputy commissioner told offices to let staff work from home to take load off the roads. That date matters: it shows a bad day can come in May, before the monsoon proper.

In June 2023 Business Today reported, from a traffic police statement, that teams had been sent to Sector 50 and Golf Course Extension Road, among other points, to manage traffic in the rain. And on 2 September 2025, after rain through the night and morning, Dynamite News reported that the municipal commissioner had toured Sector 50 and Mayfield Garden to check drainage and cleanliness, and had told officials to improve the roads.

No report we found gives a depth of water or a street name inside Nirvana Country. For a planner, the lesson is simpler: on a heavy-rain day, the sector and its main approach are on the city's watch list.

Why does Golf Course Extension Road matter for a Sector 50 move?

Because most trucks reach Sector 50 along it or along Sohna Road, and both have jammed in the rain year after year. The worst account in the table is from 25 July 2024, when, according to The Tribune, a stretch that usually takes 20 minutes could not be crossed in an hour, and some commuters from Faridabad said the trip took about three hours. A traffic inspector quoted in the report blamed a lack of proper drainage.

The road is now being rebuilt. According to a Tribune report of 3 May 2026, the road between Sohna Road and Golf Course Road is to become eight lanes wide, with a drain along each side, and the contractor was ready to begin ground work the next week. Until it is finished, expect narrowed lanes and diversions on top of any rain. If you are still choosing between the two corridors, our Golf Course Road vs Golf Course Extension Road comparison sets out the differences.

Is the Nirvana Country road and drain work finished?

We could not confirm that it is, so check before you book. Swarajya reported on 26 March 2026 that the municipal corporation had lined up 35 road projects worth about Rs 145 crore, that roads in Nirvana Country (Sector 50) and South City 2 were among the stretches given priority, and that stormwater drains were in many cases being laid at the same time as the road. The deadline for several of the projects was 31 December. We found no later report on the Nirvana Country part.

A street that is dug up for drains is harder to cross in the rain than one that is merely old. Ask the RWA office which blocks have open trenches in your moving week, and whether a truck can reach your gate.

What do summer heat reports say for Sector 50?

None that we found names Sector 50, so these are city-wide figures. Gurugram's thermometer hit 48.1°C on 15 May 2022, The Tribune reported, the highest reading across Haryana and Punjab that day. In the hot spell of May 2024 the same paper reported 47°C on 29 May and a jump in power use to 480 lakh units; its list of areas short of power and water included neighbouring Sectors 46, 48, 51 and 52, but not 50. In 2026 the state sent Haryana's government schools on summer break from 25 May to 30 June, citing an orange alert for a severe heatwave, The Tribune reported on 21 May.

One older report touches the sector indirectly. In May 2019, The Tribune listed South City 2, part of which lies in Sector 50, among developer colonies with repeated summer power problems, and residents described cuts of six to eight hours a day. That is seven years old; supply may have changed since, so ask your RWA or society office how long the backup lasts today.

How does the weather change the job in each kind of Sector 50 home?

Sector 50 mixes gated villas, independent floors and tower flats, and rain or heat hits each one differently. Our Sector 50 page explains why we ask which kind of home you are in before planning.

Home type In heavy rain In peak heat
Villa in a gated block Every carton crosses open ground from the door to the truck; the truck may also wait at the gate for a guard's check Long outdoor carries, often over two storeys and a garden path
Independent floor Wet stair landings and a truck parked in an open lane A stair carry with no lift and little shade
Tower flat The carry is mostly under cover, but the truck still uses the flooded approach roads A power cut can stop the service lift; ask about backup

For villas, the Nirvana Country RWA's security procedure logs visiting vehicles and confirms them with the resident by intercom or phone. In the rain, send the truck's number to the gate the day before, so it is not left standing outside while calls are made.

What should a monsoon move in Sector 50 include?

Plan for a late start or a slipped day rather than hoping for dry weather. Through July and August we hold the date loosely and keep an eye on the forecast, and before a loaded truck goes in after a wet spell we drive the township's main road first. Your own list:

  • To do: Leave one spare day free at each end of the move.
  • To do: Look at the forecast 48 hours out, then once more the night before.
  • To do: Ask the RWA which streets are dug up and whether your gate is reachable.
  • To do: Send the truck number to the guard post a day ahead.
  • To do: Ask for mattresses, sofas and electronics to be wrapped in plastic film.
  • To do: Keep papers, laptops and chargers in a sealed bag that rides with you.
  • To do: Agree a fallback route in case Golf Course Extension Road or Sohna Road is under water.

Should the weather turn or the new home not be ready, packed goods can wait in storage until a dry day.

What changes for a summer move in Sector 50?

Do the heavy work early and keep heat-sensitive things out of the truck. From late May through June:

  • To do: Begin loading at dawn, aiming to be unloaded before the afternoon peak.
  • To do: Ask your society or RWA whether the lift and pumps have power backup, and for how long.
  • To do: Carry medicines, candles, cosmetics and anything that melts in your own car.
  • To do: Keep drinking water at both homes for your family and the crew.
  • To do: Charge phones and a power bank the night before, in case a cut takes the intercom down.

For a full-home move with packing and setting up, see household shifting. If you are moving inside the township, our Nirvana Country page covers its blocks, and for the W Block side, see South City 2. Across the boundary, the Sector 51 monsoon guide lists the reports for that sector.

When is the safer window for a Sector 50 move?

October to April, on this evidence. Every dated rain report in the table falls between late May and early September, and the heat figures fall in May and June. That does not make an October date trouble-free, but it removes the two risks this guide is about. If the wet or hot months are your only option, build the season into the plan.

For a quote that allows for the season, tell us your moving date and both addresses.

Everything here is general information taken from the dated reports above, checked in October 2026. Drains, road works and the power supply can change from one year to the next, so check the forecast and ask your RWA or society office for the latest before moving day.
