For a move in DLF Phase 2 (Sector 25), the riskiest stretches are late May, when Gurgaon has reached 44–47 °C and Phase 2 has been named among areas short of power and water, and July to early September, when the roads out of the phase have flooded. None of the dated reports we found puts water inside Phase 2's own lanes, so the season's real risks here are the exits a loaded truck needs and the electricity that runs a shared lift.
Each report used below carries a date and names Phase 2, the five DLF phases as a group, or a road a loaded truck would take: MG Road, Sikanderpur or NH-48. For rules and permissions in the phase, read our DLF Phase 2 rules guide; for job moves and small offices, see the DLF Phase 2 packers and movers page.
Which dated reports name Phase 2 or the roads around it?
The list runs oldest first. Rain and power sit in one table because in this phase both decide the same moving day.
| When | Where | Reported effect | Reported by |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 Jul 2023 | MG Road, Narsinghpur, Sohna Road | Waterlogged after 65 mm of rain | The Tribune |
| Mid-2023 | DLF 2, Sector 56, Ardee City | Unscheduled cuts of six to eight hours a day for two weeks, hitting water supply | PropNewsTime |
| 20–29 May 2024 | DLF Phases 1, 2 and 3, among others | Short of power and water in a heatwave; 47 °C on 29 May | The Tribune |
| 2 May 2025 | Sikandarpur | Among the flooded spots a state minister inspected after an early-morning downpour | The Tribune |
| 25 May 2025 | DLF Phase 2 | A fallen electricity pole posted by a resident after a storm; DLF Phase 1 had about eight hours without power | The Tribune |
| 1 Sep 2025 | Sikanderpur Rapid Metro station | Roads under water; the station packed by about 8 pm as commuters turned to the metro | Aaj Tak |
| 11 Jul 2026 | All five DLF phases | On the civic agencies' list of worst-hit areas | The Tribune |
| 4 Aug 2026 | Ambience Mall to Sohna Road | An 18 km drive took 2 hours 40 minutes after late-afternoon rain | ThePrint |
| 4 Sep 2026 | NH-48, MG Road, Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk | Traffic police posted at junctions and waterlogging-prone stretches during rain | UNI |
Three points stand out for planning:
- The exits flood, not (on record) the lanes. The Tribune's July 2023 report put MG Road among the waterlogged roads after 65 mm, and on 2 May 2025 a state minister went to Sikandarpur among other flooded points, the paper reported. Sikanderpur is one Rapid Metro stop from Phase 2's own station, according to Wikipedia, which makes it the nearest of these trouble spots.
- NH-48 has the longer record. The Tribune's 19 April 2026 review recalled 133 mm in 12 hours in July 2025, which submerged NH-48 and Golf Course Road. The expressway beside Cyber Hub flooded again in August 2026; our DLF Phase 3 season guide has that report.
- Phase 2 is named in the power reports. It appears in outage stories from 2023, 2024 and 2025, which matters more here than in a plotted colony of single houses, for the reason below.
Why does the power supply matter more than the rain inside Phase 2?
Because many Phase 2 homes are floors on rebuilt plots, where four households share one lift. Our area page explains how DLF's floor papers put the lift among the common areas. When the power goes and the backup cannot carry the lift, every carton, bed and fridge comes down the stairs by hand.
The dated record shows when that has happened:
- The 2023 run of cuts. PropNewsTime, in a report last updated on 8 July 2023, said residents of DLF 2 had faced unscheduled cuts of six to eight hours daily for two weeks, that cuts had run since April, and that water supply suffered with them. The power company disputed any shortage and blamed local faults.
- The May 2024 heatwave. The Tribune listed DLF Phases 1, 2 and 3 among areas short of both power and water on 30 May 2024. Electricity demand had climbed over 15 per cent within seven days, transformers were tripping under the load, and pumps stopped when the supply failed.
- The May 2025 storm. After rain and wind on 25 May 2025, The Tribune reported cuts in nearly 100 areas; a resident posted a photograph of an electricity pole down in DLF Phase 2.
None of these dates is recent, and supply may have improved since. Still, the pattern is consistent: the hottest weeks and the first storms are when a lift slot is least certain.
How hot does it get, and when does the heat start?
Earlier than most people plan for. Amar Ujala recorded 39 °C in Gurugram on 15 April 2026, with hot afternoon winds. By 20 May the city reached 44.5 °C, 3.7 °C above normal, the paper reported the next day; the weather office had an orange heat alert running to 24 May, and a local expert advised staying out of the sun from 11 am to 4 pm. In 2024 the peak came later and higher: 47 °C on 29 May, nine days after a 45.3 °C reading, according to The Tribune's heatwave report of that week. Our area page also cites a reading of just over 44 °C at Cyber City in May 2026.
Our area page sets the summer routine for this phase: loading starts early, to protect both the crew and anything electronic. On the day, that looks like this:
- Start near sunrise and have the heavy pieces out before late morning.
- Book a morning lift slot, in the cooler hours, and ask whether the backup can run it if the supply fails.
- Keep laptops, medicines and documents with you, not in the cargo box.
- Store water for the stairs in case the lift stops mid-job.
How does a rainy day change the move?
Mostly on the road. A truck leaves Phase 2 either by NH-48 or towards MG Road, and on a wet afternoon both can slow at once. On 4 August 2026, ThePrint reported that an 18 km drive from Ambience Mall to Sohna Road took 2 hours 40 minutes after late-afternoon rain. A month later, UNI reported traffic police posted during rain at NH-48, MG Road, Shankar Chowk and IFFCO Chowk, all on the roads around Phase 2.
Our area page sets out how we handle the wet months: between July and early September the MG Road route is held in reserve in case NH-48 is blocked, an afternoon is left free, and cartons get a plastic wrap in a rainy week. For your part:
- Leave the stilt free: cartons can stay indoors until the truck arrives.
- If the move is intercity, allow a spare day for the dispatch; our domestic relocation service handles the long leg.
- If you are in temporary housing while the dates move, part of the goods can wait in our warehouse.
The city did prepare for 2026: The Tribune's April review counted 159 hotspots, four of them rated extremely critical, and listed pumps and suction tankers being deployed. Its 11 July report still put all five DLF phases among the worst-hit areas, so a monsoon date still needs slack.
Which months are riskiest for a Phase 2 move?
Laid out month by month, the same reports give this picture:
| Time of year | Reported so far | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-April | 39 °C already (2026) | Morning loading begins to matter |
| Early May | Sikandarpur flooded in an early downpour (2025) | Check the forecast even before the monsoon |
| Late May | 44.5–47 °C (2024, 2026); Phase 2 short of power and water (2024); storm cuts (2025) | Sunrise start; ask about lift backup |
| July | MG Road waterlogged (2023); NH-48 submerged (2025); DLF phases among the worst hit (2026) | Avoid the day after heavy rain |
| August to early September | Long jams after afternoon rain (2026); roads under water and metro crowds (2025) | Load in the morning; keep a spare day |
| October to March | Nothing dated in what we found | The calmer window |
That is a reading of past reports, not a forecast. A dry October day is the easiest one we can point to.
What should you sort out before a rainy or hot moving day?
- To do: Ask your neighbours how long the lift ran on backup during the last cut
- To do: Agree the lift slot with the other floors, and make it a morning one
- To do: Check the weather warning and the traffic on NH-48 and MG Road the evening before
- To do: Keep a second date in hand for July, August or early September
- To do: For a joining-date move, tell your employer the spare day is for the weather
- To do: Carry papers, phone chargers and any medicines yourself, in a waterproof pouch
Key takeaway
In DLF Phase 2, the dated reports point to two risks: heat and power cuts from April to early June (Phase 2 named in 2023, 2024 and 2025), and flooded exits on MG Road and NH-48, mostly from July to early September, with Sikandarpur also hit in an early-May downpour in 2025. Load early, book the lift in the morning, keep a spare day in the monsoon, and choose October to March if your dates allow.
Will a rainy-season or summer date cost more?
No. The owner sets one set of indicative bands for the whole year (October 2026). Inside Gurgaon they read Rs 4,500–7,000 (1 BHK), Rs 8,000–12,500 (2 BHK) and Rs 12,000–15,000 (3 BHK). Moves to Delhi and the rest of the table are on our Gurgaon packers and movers page. The weather changes the hour and the date, not the band.
If you work in the towers next door, our Cyber City page covers office moves on the same roads. Our working hours are 8 am to 9 pm, Monday to Saturday; send us your plot, floor and dates and say whether the building shares a lift.
Treat this page as general information built from the reports listed above. Drain works, hotspot lists and the power network all shift between seasons, so look again at the forecast, the roads and your own building a few days before you move.
