Packers and movers · Patna, Bihar
Maxx Relocation plans long-distance moves from Patna, including Delhi NCR about 1,000 km away, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Lucknow, from its Gurgaon office. Old family houses in Patna City, flats off Boring Road and the Chhath and fog seasons all shape the plan, and the quote is in writing.
Moving in Patna

Patna stretches along the south bank of the Ganga for about 35 km, yet it is only 16 to 18 km wide. A move from Danapur in the west to Patna City in the east can take longer than the distance suggests, because most traffic funnels onto a few east–west roads such as Ashok Rajpath, Bailey Road and the riverside JP Ganga Path.
The moves we plan from Patna are long ones: a new job in Gurgaon or Bengaluru, a posting elsewhere, or parents joining children who work outside Bihar. Delhi NCR is about 1,000 km away by road, and that is the route we know best, because we are based in Gurgaon.
We have no office in Patna. Each move is planned from Gurgaon as a domestic relocation, with the inventory, the date and the delivery end fixed before the truck sets off. Our Delhi page covers the other end for moves into the capital.

Finding your way
Most Patna moves use at least one of these.
The old road that runs east along the river from Gandhi Maidan towards Patna City, lined with colleges, hospitals and shops. It is slow for most of the day, so moves along it start early.
The main road west from the centre towards Danapur. Moves between the centre and western Patna usually take it.
The riverside road along the Ganga, starting from Digha. Where it is open, it is a quicker way across the city than the old roads.
The 5,750 m bridge across the Ganga to Hajipur and north Bihar. Its superstructure was rebuilt in steel and the full bridge reopened in June 2022, and a new four-lane bridge has been under construction beside it.
The rail-cum-road bridge from Digha, on the western side of the city, across to Sonpur. It gives western Patna its own crossing to the north bank.
The main railway station, in the centre of the city. The roads around it are crowded through the day.
Homes we move
In Patna City and the older colonies such as Rajendra Nagar, many families live in houses they have owned for decades, often two or three storeys with a stair and no lift. Leaving one means sorting years of belongings and deciding what goes to the new city and what stays with relatives. We pack room by room and label every carton, so the choices are easy to follow at the other end.
Around Boring Road, Bailey Road and Pataliputra Colony, newer homes are apartment blocks with small lifts and a tight compound for parking. Wardrobes and beds often have to come apart, and the truck may have to stand on the road outside.
Government quarters in Patna are vacated on a set date after an inspection. Share the date and your department's process, so the packing is finished and the rooms are clear in time.
On the ground
Heavy rain can leave low colonies under water. In the 2019 floods, water stood six to seven feet deep on many Patna roads. If your street floods, tell us, and keep a spare date.
For the four days of Chhath, roads to the Ganga ghats close or fill up, and trains and highways are packed with people travelling home. Avoid that week.
Fog on the highways west towards Uttar Pradesh in winter can slow a truck by a day. We build that into the transit estimate.
Lanes in Patna City are too narrow for large trucks; a smaller vehicle shuttles goods to the main road.
When to move
February to mid-March is usually the smoothest window: the winter fog has lifted, the heat has not arrived and the roads are dry. Late November, after Chhath and before the thick fog, can also work.
Summers run from late March to June and are fierce, with hot winds towards the end. Load early, keep electronics out of the sun and carry medicines with you. The monsoon follows from late June to late September, and heavy spells can waterlog low neighbourhoods.
Winters bring cold nights and fog. Fog does not stop a move, but it can add a day on the highway, so we plan transit with some slack. Chhath, celebrated six days after Diwali in the month of Kartika, usually in October or November, is the week to avoid.
