Indore is often called the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh, and most of it has grown as planned colonies. Numbered schemes such as Vijay Nagar spread out from AB Road, each with regular plots and wide inner roads. Near Rajwada the older city is different: wholesale markets, crowded lanes and family houses built above shops.

Finding your way

Indore Roads and Landmarks: AB Road, the Bypass and Rajwada

Most Indore addresses are given by the nearest square or main road. Share yours and we can plan the approach.

  1. Rajwada and the old markets

    The Holkars' old palace, seven storeys of stone and wood, stands at the heart of the old city, ringed by wholesale markets and Sarafa, known for its night food stalls. The lanes are busy from morning to late night, so a move here is planned for early hours with a small vehicle.

  2. AB Road

    The old Agra–Bombay road is the main spine of the city, running from the Vijay Nagar side through Palasia and Bhawarkuan towards Rau. Many colonies are described by how far they are from it.

  3. Indore Bypass

    It runs around the eastern edge of the city between the Dewas side and Rau. Trucks bound for Mumbai and Pune head south past Rau, while those going to Bhopal leave on the Dewas side.

  4. The Ring Road

    An inner loop through the eastern colonies. It keeps local shifts between east Indore colonies off the crowded central roads.

  5. Super Corridor

    The wide road on the north-west side of the city, with IT campuses and new housing along it. Moves here are mostly flats in new towers, planned around society rules.

  6. Pithampur industrial area

    South-west of the city in Dhar district, nicknamed the Detroit of India for its auto and engineering plants. Office and plant moves there usually need a gate pass arranged in advance.

Homes we move

Indore Homes: Scheme Colonies, Apartments and Student Rooms

Most of Indore lives in planned colonies. Independent houses and duplexes sit on regular plots with a gate on the road, so a truck can usually park close by. The work is in the packing: big wardrobes, crockery units, and often a puja room with brass and copper pieces that need careful wrapping.

Apartment towers have spread along the Super Corridor, in Nipania and near the Bypass. They come with society rules: a booked service lift, gate entry for the truck and sometimes fixed moving hours. Get these sorted with the office a few days before the date.

Students fill Bhawarkuan and the streets near the coaching institutes. A hostel or PG move is small, often a bed, a study table, a cooler and a stack of book cartons, so we send a smaller vehicle and keep it quick. When batches change, many of these moves fall in the same few weeks.

When to move

Best Season for Shifting House in Indore

October to February is the best time: dry roads, sunny days and cool nights. It is also wedding season, and a big wedding can close a colony road for an evening, so ask your neighbours if one is planned on your date.

Indore's summers, from April to early June, are hot by day, though Malwa nights stay relatively cool even in the hottest months. We still load early and keep heat-sensitive items out of the truck.

The monsoon, roughly late June to September, brings steady rain and can waterlog underpasses and low roads for a while after a heavy shower. Loads go under waterproof sheets, and on a wet day we wait for a break in the rain rather than load in a downpour.
